Man, my brothers are so freaking lame.

What was the point of them coming here at all if they were all just gonna up and ditch me as soon as they got the chance, huh?!

Bah, who needs 'em.

Let's see...says here,

"Chess is a game played between two opponents on opposite sides of a board containing 64 squares of alternating colors.  Each player has 16 pieces: 1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 8 pawns. The goal of the game is to checkmate the other king. Checkmate happens when the king is in a position to be captured (in check) and cannot escape from capture."

Huh.  Well does anyone know how to play this game already?  I found it at the Port Chance festival and thought I'd give it a shot.  It sounds nothing like pai sho to me, but still I don't think I should have too much trouble learning.

[Besides being on the deck like she usually is, this time Asami is sitting on a chair in the dinning area of The Moon. A chess board box is opened and the parts are scattered on the table. She'll be looking over the rule book should anyone come across her]

[Ace, lying on the deck of the Sun, looked at the sky with a fixed feeling of irritation in his eyes. He opened his journal and glared into it.]

So, I'm not gonna destroy that island anymore, but I still don't feel like following this crappy map anymore.

Anyone hear of any interesting islands, lately?

[ For the second time, Kosuiryo writes to the world. Her calligraphy is relaxed and her ink strokes are sophisticated. She's found peace in the shade of a sunny island's tree (laying out three of her kimono's layers and lying upon them lazily. ]

To those like myself on the Surface,

If I may ask, could I hear your heroic tales. I have met heroes among you and would like to know your stories. Ones that I may write down and keep with me when I must return home someday.

This is Kuzan. Better known as Aokiji to pirates in our world, because like most logia users, he has a signature fighting style that is based on his attacks.

Don't let the almost awesome afro hair fool you, however, he's as torpid as they come.

You see this fearsome would-be marine has a ten-speed bike he rides around over the ocean like the worst kind of MC loser there ever was. That's right. A ten speed bike. What the hell does it use ten speeds for? The only one he ever uses is a slow cruise that is like watching ice cubes thaw! It's not even a motorcycle! That's how useless it is.

He's got the gloves and boots like a real rider, but on a bicycle, he might as well just have the gear to deal with the cold.

So uncool.

He does make a mean ice cream though. So you know, if you're anywhere near the Friend Ship or Justice Penguin, get some. Unless you're a pirate. Then you're even more of a loser than him.

[Yup. That's it. This is a public service message brought to you by: Smoker, the worst friend ever. Carry on.]

Alright, lords, ladies, pirates and none of the above. I am going to take our supreme commander the almighty cold footed cockrel out for a stroll for a week or two. You know the drill. Namur, you have the Moon. Haruta, the Sun, make sure Ace doesn't destroy the world. Acelet, give Haruta hell. The rest of you who don't sail with us, if you'd like a visit, give us a yelp.

[he blows a kiss]

See you later, babies.

[as for Marco, he's already stuffed him in a bag and under Thatch's arm as he uses the typhoon grip to get the Little Dipper back down to the blue sea]

[ooc: expect replies from either Thatch or Marco]

[ Sup pirates. Bolin's coming in with a purpose and some genuine enthusiasm for you. ]

Soooo, hey everyone! There are a lot of people with these journals, so I'm guessing... probably a great chance that you have no idea who I am. That's cool. Yeah, no, hey. Again. I'm Bolin.

Just got a couple of things I've been meaning to ask about, since, you know, before whenever it was that things... started getting crazy. Still, uh. Still not exactly sure when that started, but it's been surprisingly easy to forget about stuff since then. Anyway, this is all pretty sports-related? I mean, if you wanna talk about the weather or something, I'm up for it! Kind of not what's on my mind today is all.

Alright, first things first, who here can tell me more about boxing, and is anyone up for showing a guy the ropes sometime? The guy is me, for the record. Don't worry about messing up my good looks, either. They'll be fine.

And way more importantly [ !!! ], do we have like a headcount on people who can manipulate water, earth, or fire? Oh, or airbenders! I mean, there aren't exactly rules standing for air yet, but we could figure that out, I guess. The idea is to get together a few folks to train for a little sport called pro-bending. No big deal, no big deal, just a super-great, fast-paced, really amazing sport from home that would be a lot of fun, is all. Think about it! Let me know.

[ Have a four-second pause while he thinks and makes absolutely sure he didn't forget anything.

Yeah looks like he's good. ]

Great, thanks!

[Ikki won't be touching the island today, instead he will be on the Moon's deck, setting what could be considered nothing else but an altar. It's pretty simple and the major decoration are the numerous bottles of booze he sets on it together with a pole (he almost made it a cross but decided against it) where he hands a piece of paper with the tattoo that Ace wears on his back. He sets it right besides the Nav so when two certain crew members return the next day, they will see it first thing as they arrive.

After he's done he just sits in front of it, staring at the altar and drinking a bottle of sake himself. It's not until later, when he's slightly tipsy, that he bothers to use the journal.]

For anyone who gives a shit, today's "Father's Day". Supposedly a day to honour and thank all of our fathers for all they do for us, never really cared about it, still don't care much but since I arrived here I end checking the calendar more and more often. I guess I don't want to miss any more "parties" I'm supposed to celebrate even if I'm not told it.

[He takes another long sip from his bottle.]

It's just another stupid day to celebrate something pointless. A father should be a father every day of the year and a son should be grateful and love him for it every day, and show it properly. Besides, what is someone without a father supposed to celebrate? I've never met anyone worth of the title of "father" or any piece of respect for trying to be one. Probably will never meet such a man.

But I know of a man like that.

[A pause as he takes a deep breath.]

Believe it or not, there is a man more worth of the title than many others. He has thousands of sons and if the ones we have here are any clue of it, they are all awesome and he is an even more awesome man. It's kind of funny, he is a pirate and one would expect pirates to value treasure more than people, but I guess that for him that family he built is his treasure.

Does treasure take other forms besides money?

[No, wait, he's going to digress. He shakes his head to himself before he continues speaking.]

Anyway, it's not much and it's probably not my place to do anything, but I made a thing on the Moon's deck. Since I'm aware of his existence and the date, I just gotta pay my respects, okay? He's my captain's father after all so I owe him a lot too. If anyone wants to come join there's enough booze, or if you want to kick me, there's enough of me for that too.

Either way... Happy Father's Day, Whitebeard, wherever you are, your sons here are still all right.

[A very irritated yet defeated Ranma makes it a point to come on the journal this morning to gripe.]

Oi, I have a word of advice for all'a you bachelors an' all around good guys out there.

Next time y'decide to do somethin' out of the kindness of yer heart? Just do it an' keep on goin' with yer life. Don't stop an' let somethin' grow outta it. While I'm at it, never get married, don't agree t'get married, an' if you absolutely, positively hafta, then get it done right away.

Trust me. It'll save you a lot of headaches later.

[Boy, he doesn't sound apologetic about recent going ons at all.]

Who the fucking hell comes up with the amounts for bounties around here anyway? Because they're total bullshit.

[Huff huff.

Then mutters:]

Guess at least I don't have a shitty messed up poster.

[SO MUCH GRUMBLING, THOUGH.]

Anyone know how to make gasoline or where I can get some? Aside from the Backwater Brig.

[Stuff's expensive there.]

I know it's unlikely, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway.

23 May 2014 @ 10:50 am
What do you guys do when you start to miss home? Or... worry about the people and the responsibilities you left behind, even though everything is supposed to be all right?

[Everyone's in the same situation, so Korra doesn't feel so weird admitting that she's missing home. She's lucky, she realizes, that she has friends that she made both at home and here to keep her company. But still...

It's not home.]

'Kay, seriously. WHY THE HELL'RE WE GOIN' 'ROUND THIS DAMN REEF 'GAIN? Been circlin' this shitty thing for like a MONTH or some shit. Honestly!

[OKAY so it's only been a couple of weeks. But still.]

Runnin' outta damn fish 'round here cuz the schools is all swimmin' off. Not that anyone other'n maybe Nami gives a shit, but if we don't head off for an island soon Y'ALL'RE GONNA BE BITCHIN' 'BOUT STORES AN' SHIT. Did someone let Marco drive or somethin'?

Really though there's somethin' important I wanted t' say. 'Bout swimmin'. This's mostly for the Spades cuz I ain't 'round no one else t' fish y' outta the deep but it's a good thing for y' t' talk 'bout in yer crews. Who the hell knows how t' swim? Who don't know how t' swim but could learn? How many a y' out there's a bunch a shitty hammers an' all y' can do is sink? If yer a Spade, sound off here before I find y'. Else we'll find out the fun way which ones a y' float, sheheheheheh!!!

[True to his word, Namur will be stalking about both the Sun and the Moon. If he catches someone that hasn't already talked to him about their ability to swim (or lack thereof) he'll promptly throw them overboard. For science, or some shit.]

Pirates of the world, RISE UP I say!

This world claims we do not belong here! The people of this world say we have no home, no place on these seas, in this world! I disagree! [Oh lord, Marco's going full steam here.] My world had no use for monsters like us either! My world made it a sin and a crime for some of us to even be born. Well, to hell with that, say I! ARE WE PIRATES OR ARE WE COWARDS?!

I FOR ONE, BEAR THE FLAG OF MY FATHER AND BROTHERS! LET US TAKE OVER THESE SEAS, AND CLAIM OUR PLACE IN A WORLD ONCE AND FOR ALL! LET US SHOW THE WORLD THAT WE WILL NOT BE DENIED OR IGNORED!

Let us show the world that this era is OURS!

[AND WITH THAT: he lets out a huge phoenix cry of victory.] SCRAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

[We now return you to your daily journal entries of everything else completely different.]

Since yesterday was Mother's Day, I've been wondering how many of you are mothers? All family is important. At least, I think so. But mothers...

[Considering she has lost her mother, Haruhi feels a lot of things about the day.]

It's special, isn't it? Not that being a father is easy. [She knows that from watching her Dad struggle all of these years.] But it's not Father's Day.

So...

Tell me about your mothers. And if you are a mother, I hope you're close to your children. Nothing can replace that bond.

[Uh oh, getting too serious again.]

Anyway, I know it's a little late, but let's celebrate.

So...Guess I'm out of a crew, for the time being. Okay, so maybe the first ship didn't work out. Hopefully the second time's a charm, right?

[He clears his throat and tries to mind his language for the pitch. Got to give off a good impression, after all. Got to sell that sizzle.]

Alright, here's the gist of it. I'm Akira, and I'm from Japan, a little island country on a cozy little blue planet called "Earth".

I need to form up with a new crew, but I feel I should probably toss out the no-go criteria right off the bat. I didn't do that last time I joined up with a ship and it bit me in the ass pretty hard.

Number one, I don't like killin'. I'll do it to defend myself and those around me, but I only if it's absolutely necessary. I also tend not to see eye-to-eye with people who do like killin'. Call me crazy, but homicidal impulses and a constant scent of blood tend to make me not trust a person, you know?

Number two, I'm a werewolf. That means I have some supernatural abilities and every Full Moon I turn into a big, furry beast. I'm in control of it, so no worries there. Just try to not freak out if you see it happen.

Number three, if I'm followin' someone, I like to know they have a good head on their shoulders and aren't gonna' to get us all killed over something dumb. Reliability is pretty key.

But if all those are covered, I'm willin' to work hard. I pick things up fast and I'd also say I'm a fairly good cook. In my spare time I like to document little points of interest on the islands and do a little supply hunting.

[Wan decided to test the book with something written. It was better than looking like a fool and talking aloud to himself in a place full of cold-shouldered strangers who were obviously looking for more of a reason to fight him. He didn't know what he'd done to upset the town he woke up in, but it was clearly enough for them to be threatening to his person. And he really didn't want to get into a fight with anyone and risking harming bystanders.

Raava's silence was also a concern, but she had grown less talkative the longer they were joined. They didn't need to talk that often anymore. So he didn't put much thought behind that. Not yet, anyway.]

To the book that speaks back: Hello.

I have recently woken up in this place and I don't know or recognize anything about it. I've traveled all over my world and nothing like this village exists. I would like to learn more about it, but the people aren't very friendly and most refuse to speak to me.

So I ask you, hopefully helpful book, for your aid.

I'm not really concerned about my safety, I can handle myself. But I have a friend... an animal friend. She's a catdeer and she answers to the name 'Mula'. If there are a lot of catdeer in this place, she'll be the one with a bedroll and small travel pack tied over her back. Please don't hurt her, she'll do you no harm. If she runs, that's okay. Just tell me where you saw her and I'll get her.

Thank you.

I have to wonder, how many books did someone speak into before they discovered this one was magical?

[ A small chuckle, and what sounds like a long drag of a cigarette. ]

My, my, they must have made quite a scene, I'm surprised nobody called the Marines. Or maybe someone did... It would explain why Scurvey-chan is so grumpy.

Aha, regardless, it's a pleasure to meet everyone. My name is Shakki, short for 'Shakuyaku', since I realise that's quite a mouthful for you younger ones. [ Another puff. ] After I figure everything out, lets have a drink together, alright? We could have a party and get to know each other a little better.
