Man, my brothers are so freaking lame.

What was the point of them coming here at all if they were all just gonna up and ditch me as soon as they got the chance, huh?!

Bah, who needs 'em.

[Accidental-ish voice
The feed starts off with only the sounds of heels stepping on a wooden floor. Eventually even the sound of heels stop and for a moment or two, there is silence. But that doesn't last long when the silence is cut by a scream of sheer terror. Then sounds of struggle and a journal falling to the ground.]

GET IT OFF ME!! GET IT OFF ME GET IT OFF ME GET IT OF MEEEEE!!!

[Suddenly, frogs croaking everywhere. Other than a woman freaking out, that's all you hear till she picks up her journal.]

WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE THINGS!?

[Action
Basically, Cynthia woke up super early, went to get breakfast after braving the galley full of confused chickens and discovered the swarm of frogs. One of the frogs jumped into her hair and got lost. She doesn't know what these things are and they caught her waaaaay off guard. React accordingly.]

[She’s been talking to a human girl for like, the last few hours! It was scary at first, but then she just started talking and rambling and everything was spilling out of the other girl which got Ariel talking and... and... it’s so cool! Talking to a real live human!]

[And then she was told she could talk to MORE. This little journal she found could do it. HOW EXCITING!.]

Hello? I was told that I could contact more humans through this thing. Just by talking! How amazing is that? Does it really work? She called it... a “Journal”. She told me everything! This isn’t home, which is more of an adventure then I’ve ever been on. I miss my friends though but I’m sure they’d be proud of me.

Oh, but she told me about Pirates, and that there is a race going on? [she gave a chipper giggle to that] Races are great! She said there was a prize and everything. It sounds like the yearly dolphin races back in our kingdom.

[there was another pause and the sound of someone holding a hand over her mouth to hide the giggles filtering from her mouth] It feels silly talking out loud to a journal. Can people really hear me?

-----

[For those of you at Port Chance still, this is open for Action too. She’s sitting on a rock, on the beach, tail half in the water, red hair bright and a small journal in her lap. She’s pawing through it, hearing what others have said and are saying. How curious!]

[She’s spoken to enough humans at this point that she isn’t jetting away. Far too curious to run, but if you startle her she can hit the water almost instantly!]

Oh, ye lot are still existin' are ye? Aye, I know, later'n most 'o ye have the patience for, but th' Dog is doin' somethin'. Ye could say she's messin' in forces beyond her ken and ye'd be right. But ye know next month is always th' best time fer it. It's th' time when Jones himself is close to the surface 'o the sea, they say, and if ye stare down into th' depths on moonless nights, ye can see his eyes watchin' back. It be an old sailor's tale, for if ye ever do see old Jones starin' back, ye'll know death has come fer ye an good.

News
A Naval blockade be set up around th' Island 'o Eternal Bliss ta keep 'em protected as they rebuild. As I believe it be one 'o the stops on th' race, ye sorry sons of bitches who need ta get a token there are goin' ta be in a hell of a problem-- Specially is the commander is old CrazyFace McGee and he'll blow ye out of th' water as soon as look at ye. I half hope he does.

Speakin' 'o the Navy, th' Corpse King be officially out 'o it, judgin' by his attack on Naval Base S25 near th' western current. They're in a bit 'o a mess down that way and hain't likely to look at ye lot too hard so try not ta raize th' rest 'o me world in the process. Next crew that burns an island'll face Dog's wrath and make no mistake about how hard ye'll be hit. I hain't jerkin around here.

Weather

North: Calm and clear, but mostly shrouded in mist. Also it be th' time 'o the singers. Ye'll start ta hear them about midnight but if ye go toward them, yer ship'll end up like as not smashed on th' rocks.

East: Hot'n'blustery, but wi' a good squall happenin around th' first 'o th' month and lastin' a good few days or more. Full ta th' brim wi' Carpenter Ants, so I hear. Can't really be great for cleanin' up after S25. Croodley Toodlelk has an infestation 'o 'em so bad it might take a few years ta roust em.

West: Still as hot'n'dry as ever with temperatures reachin' into th' 100s if not more. Try not ta die as that'd be a hell of a way ta go and make ye look like an ass besides.

South: Fine seas fer the most part, clear nights ta enjoy th' Southern Lights as they should be clear enough ta make out fer a few hours now. Expect storms and th' odd kraken as it be about spawnin' season and th' grandfathers'n'grandmothers be gettin' there first.

That be all from be other than yer usual asanine question fer the week.

Cut for narration )

I regret to inform everyone that the Royal Host Club is currently closed. There are currently no plans to reopen.

[His voice never falters. It remains calm and professional.]

For those who do not know me, my name is Kyouya Otori. I and [he pauses, considers, and chooses his words] a friend, Haruhi Fujioka, need to join a crew.

We also bring a golden retriever.

Neither of us are combatants, and we would prefer to avoid conflict with the Navy as much as possible.

Haruhi is a capable cook, and I am a competent one. I am also extremely qualified to manage expenses and budgets. I also have decent medical knowledge.

Thank you.

So! It seems that some little miss nice boots wants all of us to behave~! Or else, no less!

[There is a long pause before the sound of a bottle being broken and a whoosh sound pops up. The sound is very akin to fire.]

You'll need to COME AND FIND ME if you want to punish me~!

[Soon enough, screams can be heard while people scream to help put out a fire. Then a chainsaw is suddenly heard, and there's far more to scream about now.]

Deesuko Ballia, I knew thee well!

[Action for the Bloody Roses: they are definitely not gonna stick around after this turn of events! To arms and chaos!]

I heard something happened recently on an island and it just sounded awful. So I decided I want to go help them, if they will let us. I mean after all it was an outworlder who caused them harm and destroyed there homes, shops and belongings. I would understand them not trusting us any more, but still I want to help.

That is why I decided to sail alone, to help those that need it for a good cause. Be they native or otherworlder. I guess, I am using the journal to ask for those who are willing to help? It's not necessary, but I believe that there are people here who want to do something to make the natives lives much better than they must be now.

I will most likely be there within a couple of days at least, so I'll be happy to meet you then if you would like a meeting.

[It's....a big blob of seemingly random squiggles. Some of the lines go right off the page, and probably onto the deck itself. It's hard drawing in small scale, okay?

On the ship of the Hazardous Materials Crew, the dragon sits and looks rather proud of himself, even if he's probably badly mushed the tip of the writing utensil currently clamped between his teeth.
]

Oooh no.

[While the voice is faint, it's still very distinct in tone. Hiccup gets to see all of this firsthand.]

Bud, what's this?

[Toothless snorts lightly, looking no less gleeful at his artwork. IS IT NOT BEAUTIFUL HICCUP. PRAISE HIM.]

((OOC: Majority of journal responses will come from Hiccup with intermittent dragon garbles.))

Since we're going to be stopping for supplies, put in any special requests now while I can get the ingredients for it.

Also, Captain, we need to replace one of the water barrels. It's starting to show signs of rotting, and I'm not going to put anything the crew's gonna drink in it.

What do you guys do when you start to miss home? Or... worry about the people and the responsibilities you left behind, even though everything is supposed to be all right?

[Everyone's in the same situation, so Korra doesn't feel so weird admitting that she's missing home. She's lucky, she realizes, that she has friends that she made both at home and here to keep her company. But still...

It's not home.]

[Voice. Always with the voice. A very loud voice no less. And a bit panicked.]

Guys! GUYS!!! TURTLE OVERBOARD!

I repeat! Turtle. Over. Board!

We got a situation here! I went looking for Donnie, see? Because he was perfecting this tomato and garlic pizza sauce that had a hint of spice to it and it was going to be perfect and I went into his lab space and I SWEAR I was just going to ASK him how it was going and there I was looking over his things and I didn’t touch anything, I swear, and there I was and there he wasn’t so I have been all over the ship looking for him and guys... [That was all on one breath...sorry.]

Guys!

I CAN’T FIND DONNIE!

This is a major Failtastic, ultra horrific turns of events, dudes. I think he must have fallen overboard!

[whispered...] I’m freaking out, man. Where’s Donnie?

I have thought things over and officially I have decided that I'm going to sail alone the moment I can, helping those who should ask for it. If you do need help right now, I'll be happy to come on over, but I have another question.

While I am on the Sinewave ship still, I don't actually know how long it will be before we get to the next island, so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let me come aboard their ship. This is more a question to those currently on Isla Empieza as I would need to get a ship and that seems like the best place.

To those on the Sinewave, I do apologize but after what's happen I just need to travel and help those who need it more. For now I don't know if I'll ever return or not, but for now this is for the best.

[Once it seems that the general flow of new entries has slowed, Codi once again takes to her journal with a bright red marker, scribbles in bold letters across almost half a page: ]

WELCOME NEW ARRIVALS

[That should be enough to catch people's attention! Codi forgoes the marker from there and simply speaks, voice cheerful and energetic.]

This is an official broadcast from the Welcome Committee! If you're new and hearing this, then good! You've figured out how to use your journal--that's one of the most important things about being here.

If you haven't already seen or read them, there are posters from the Committee around Empieza--the island you arrived on, and are probably still on right now. They have a lot of useful information on them, so you should take a look! If you still have questions after that, just write or speak into your journal to respond to this entry, and we'll answer them as soon as possible!

[Then, signed at the bottom: ]

[Wan decided to test the book with something written. It was better than looking like a fool and talking aloud to himself in a place full of cold-shouldered strangers who were obviously looking for more of a reason to fight him. He didn't know what he'd done to upset the town he woke up in, but it was clearly enough for them to be threatening to his person. And he really didn't want to get into a fight with anyone and risking harming bystanders.

Raava's silence was also a concern, but she had grown less talkative the longer they were joined. They didn't need to talk that often anymore. So he didn't put much thought behind that. Not yet, anyway.]

To the book that speaks back: Hello.

I have recently woken up in this place and I don't know or recognize anything about it. I've traveled all over my world and nothing like this village exists. I would like to learn more about it, but the people aren't very friendly and most refuse to speak to me.

So I ask you, hopefully helpful book, for your aid.

I'm not really concerned about my safety, I can handle myself. But I have a friend... an animal friend. She's a catdeer and she answers to the name 'Mula'. If there are a lot of catdeer in this place, she'll be the one with a bedroll and small travel pack tied over her back. Please don't hurt her, she'll do you no harm. If she runs, that's okay. Just tell me where you saw her and I'll get her.

Thank you.

Excuse me? Hello? Can anyone understand what I'm saying through this book? I've seen people speaking into these strange books and other people seem to speak back. I'm...really rather confused by this entire place.

Tarouza? Kurokagi? Anyone? What happened after the battle? Did we win? Is that why I can understand all of these people?

[There's a bit of shuffling as he moves through underbrush, emerging near the market area. Screaming immediately starts from everyone who catches sight of him.]

...Well, that was a bit rude. They all ran away. Anyway, back to business. I've been wondering about some other things that seem to be important, here. Perhaps one of the people listening can tell me.

First of all, what is "currency" and how does it work? I've been given little shiny bits of this "currency", but I'm not sure what to do with it.

Second, how does "writing" and "reading" work? It's something you humans do for these book things, correct? I'm...really a bit new to all of this.

Why are you all so large? The humans I know are much smaller. Or have I somehow gotten smaller?
