[Ace, lying on the deck of the Sun, looked at the sky with a fixed feeling of irritation in his eyes. He opened his journal and glared into it.]

So, I'm not gonna destroy that island anymore, but I still don't feel like following this crappy map anymore.

Anyone hear of any interesting islands, lately?

Oh, we're gonna finish it, but I'm not indulgin' crap on anymore of these islands. I nearly burned the last one to cinders.

...wow. Not that we had the easiest of routes, but damn. Saw a lot of chatter from your crew, something really went weird on the last island, I'm guessing.

Insults. Humiledad tried to take away my pride for my crew.

They thought I'd be better without it.

[He added--] Fortunate for the people there and that goddess, my crew talked me out of it.

Does this mean we are not finishing the race?

Nah, we're finishin'. Might as well, since I wanna get back to the charts we kept before the start.

[Ace hates planning routes, but he still does it.]

I know we're pirates but razing islands to the ground is getting old, and counter productive to our ability to sail these water's freely.
[Well at least Dog wouldn't have to step in and put Ace in his place.

Bring rock climbing equipment if you ever think about going to Circle islands, there is also nothing circular about the place. [You asked lately, and they islands they were sent to weren't that interesting.]

Anyone askin' for smooth sailin' ain't ready to be a pirate. [Ace wouldn't have wanted an easy life to begin with--and he would have actually liked to take a swing at Dog after he thought she lead on Namur.]

Anyway, does that island have weird animals or weather formations or something?

Like I would force them to be pirates. One's already said she's not going to stand for more islands being burned to the ground.
[Really if it came to it he might not stop them if they decided the Spades needed to be dealt with.]

Well nothing in terms of weather that looked local to the island. I saw a goat or two that looked like they had one deformed leg.

[Ace braced himself, feeling Marco closing in, but otherwise being a bit too slow to react because he had been lying down.

It was fine, though. Ace was used to brain damage.]

Marco! You got your devil fruit powers back!

[NODS!!! And nuzzles the side of Ace's face with his beak, quietly preening him.]

[his hair-- is still a mess. It's been all a tangle forever and he's out of product completely. He knew he should have stocked up]

then collapses and gives him a bear hug, sobbing helplessly in his perfect goddamn hair] it's a birds nest and not even a good one. What am I going to do?

[Ace blinked rapidly at Thatch. He was happy to see him return to the ships, but even more surprised at the state of his... hair...]

Thatchy... [Ace returned the hug, definitely concerned. Especially because the hair was in his face at that angle. Muffled, Ace tried to console him.]

It's fine... We'll get you to a nice island with modern stuff you can use for it...!

I liked Anygrav Moon! The residents were nice, you could walk on the ceilings, and the underwater cavern and lake was beautiful and full of crystals.

[Ace's jaw dropped.]

You got a map for that island!?

[Moments later, there's a drawing on the journal.]

[It was simply an arrow pointing northeast, then a round island labeled "Anygrav Moon" at the end of the trail.]

[Yes, very detailed.]

[ Yeah it's pretty safe to say, generally speaking and obviously for no specific reasons for anybody whatsoever, that that last island kind of. Was awful. Just has a way of happening sometimes, he guesses. Bolin's just gonna hang out over here near the good ol' Captain and let Pabu play with a piece of string. ]

You know, I think not destroying the island is probably the best way to go on this one, Cap'n. It's like... taking the high road! The high road with less running and screaming. And less, uh. Vengeful goddesses, maybe? [ He doesn't know. It's just nice to have Ace back on board. ]

[Ace didn't so much as move for awhile, just kicking one leg and waiting for the wind to shift so they could continue sailing. He could put wind in the sails if he wanted, but it was a nice time of day and he was enjoying himself.]

We can't let people like that mess with us, though. If people get it in their heads they can torture people on a whim, Bolin, they're gonna run with it.

[He huffed, knowing better. He didn't like retaliating like that. He liked an honest fight, head to head. That goddess wouldn't let him do that.]

But, I'd like to settle fights like that the normal way. Man to man. That's the right way, isn't it?

Man to man definitely sounds like it's supposed to be the right way. Fair ground and everything. [ He definitely can't argue the point, all things considered. It's usually pretty great to discourage messing with people when they can't do anything to stop it. ] I know I'm not a big fan of the idea of people running with torture.
