I've decided I don't care about dating or that kind of stuff anymore.

[sent mostly to Ace and Smoker but he doesn't know how to private it or even if that's a thing really. Anyway it seemed a lot of people hadn't wanted him to think about that kind of thing in the first place so he should let them know]

I wanna be Pirate King and have all the friends I want and all the meat I want.

[and the rest of it... it didn't matter. Nothing could be better than nakama anyway. That done, he closes the journal and goes to find Smoker. He wants to spend more time with him before the race is over]

He wants to ask stuff but it's stuff he's not supposed to talk about so he sighs and rests his cheek on his knees, rolling a marble back and forth under his finger]

This stuff is dumb.

I don't think you should write off love entirely. When you find it, I think it's supposed to make you really happy. And I don't know if it even really matters if you care about it or not, or if you're looking for it, because I think sometimes it just... Happens? Without you even realizing it.

[She laughs a bit.] But friends are great. And they bring lots of happiness too! And if that's what you want, if that's what will make you happy, then I don't think you need to worry so much about the other stuff.

[Ace was in the middle of riling up his spar-hawk for a little bit of fighting and trying to drink a hot cup of tea at the same time. He was becoming a doddering old man, just like Gramps--definitely no longer of dating or marrying age.

There was the occasional screech and the sound of talons ripping at metal.]

[she doesn't really get it but that's okay. It's hard to make anyone understand exactly. But she's trying to help and he really likes that.]

[Some time passes after he initially sees this entry before Sanji goes to find Luffy. He's still kind of in a weird place, even though he and Zoro have since had their...conversation, but it's mostly stubbornness that keeps him away. Because he's still a little irked at Luffy for being so damn involved in a relationship that Sanji sometimes wishes he'd just keep his nose out of -- even though, at the same time, he can't help feeling touched that at least his captain cares.

But mostly he's annoyed.

Because he doesn't like having to explain himself, especially to someone who has such shitty, simplistic views about it all.

...The sad fact of the matter is that Luffy's kind of been right about everything, which is all the more irritating. Hmph.

In any case, Sanji does eventually wander out to Merrily's figurehead, finding a nearby section of the ship's railing to lean back against. He's munching on some paille that he brought with him -- totally not a peace offering, what -- and doesn't say anything. Just waits to see if Luffy wants to talk to him.

Also, is it suddenly cooler out here? The galley was nice and warm when he was cooking so he didn't immediately notice, but he's pretty sure they weren't sailing through winter waters before. What the hell?]

[Luffy hears Sanji coming up and turns to face him, eyeing the paille like burning and knowing what it's for but doesn't take any yet. It's okay because he knows Sanji won't be a jerk and eat it all but...

He wasn't sure why. And the why was really important in this kind of thing. Was Sanji feeling bad because of how things went the other day? He rests his chin on his knees and stares at the deck a moment. It's kind of hard and it's frustrating but--maybe this kind of thing is always hard and frustrating.]

It's tough, na.

[By which he meant he was going to take some not as a peace offering but because they are nakama and Sanji made it to share. So he takes a little less than what he would have normally.
