[Serenes did her good. The absolute peace and quiet in her mind, well, that went away. But the rest perked Rogue up a bit. Enough that she can, at least, address her fellow kidnap victims about something fairly insignificant.]

So, we're from a lot of different worlds, right? That's what I've noticed at least.

That's got me curious.

What're the "milestone" birthdays where y'all are from?

[This has nothing to do with her own upcoming birthday. Nope. Or with using a fairly benign topic to announce her presence to certain people.]

Like. Where I'm from--

You've got sixteen, which means you can drive.
Eighteen's a big deal, even though, y'know, not much y' really get. I mean, buyin' cigarettes an' votin', but that ain' really a big deal.
Then there's twenty-one, legal drinkin' age.

Anybody else got big ones? 'M just curious 'bout the differences in worlds, y'know?

[For the Spades, she's around. Keeping busy, paying close attention to how to work the sails and everything else. The same pep that was in her step on Serenes is gone, but she's also not completely skulking about like she was after Stela and before that.]

Well, it's pretty much the same where I'm from. Granted, it changes a lot based on your homeland, and even beyond that your colony. I'm not really sure there's any galactic standard. It gets even more messy when you factor in alien cultures and how they do things.

I'm just barely into the bracket where I can drive a grappler ship.

We've got different countries with different laws, too. I'm just familiar with the ones where I'm from, and those are the big ones.

Milestone... I dunno. All birthdays are pretty big. When I was seventeen I set out to become Pirate King so I guess that's a milestone birthday for me.

I would not say individual birthdays are so very important. The biggest milestone is when a foal gains their cutie mark, typically in adolescence.

Figure it's prob'ly a couple hundred years. Or might be a totally different world. But yeah. Legal drinkin' age where I'm from's twenty-one.

But I do know where I'm from the legal drinking age is eighteen.

My world's a little different than 'horse an' carriage' for drivin'. Probably the difference.

[Though she can't imagine too small of a kid actually being able to drive something like that. But that's not the issue here.]

On my world, fifteen is the age where one is considered an adult. One can marry, become a warrior in an army, or take on a trade. It is a time where one is no longer dependent on their parents, though many choose to stay with their families if the family has a business or a farm. Some youths become apprentices or start training around the age of thirteen in order to be ready to go out on their own when their fifteenth birthday comes around.

That's sorta what eighteen is for us, I guess. You can join the military, most states have that as how old y' gotta be t' marry without a parent's consent. Didn' think 'bout those before.

We're pretty much the same in Japan, but on the second Monday in January, everyone who's turning 20 that year celebrates Coming Of Age Day.

Seventeen is the big one in my world. Or -- the Wizarding world, I should say. I'm not entirely familiar with Muggle laws outside of it in my country. Though I think they're different from your lot across the seas. But seventeen is when we become of age. It means we can get our Apparition licenses and use magic outside of school... And drink, I suppose.
