Brook is gone.

I don't wanna stop missing people, but it's hard. There's a some people I'm gonna see again but a lot of people I don't know.

But even if I'm gonna see 'em again or not, missing them hurts. Like before I was rubber and tried to swallow an orange.

But I don't wanna hurt. I wanna be happy.

So what do you do to be happy?

[anything can help at this point. He pulls the violin out and plays a few screechy notes. It's a tribute. A bad one. But a tribute nontheless]

If I remember the good times I just want them here with me so I can have more. Or I wanna go where they are. I wanna visit Anna and Katara and Sokkaboom. Brook and Nami and Usopp I'll see again but...

Missing someone means they're still there in your heart.

[Yeah, maybe it's butchered from a Star Trek movie, via an old episode of Seinfeld. But Jesse knows what it's like to miss people.]

So they're not really gone, y'know? They're just someplace they can't talk back.

Yeah... [it was still hard. They were all there in his heart and mind as long as he didn't forget they'd still be there]

Maybe I should play a song for him... maybe he'll hear it somehow. Though he doesn't have ears... [he plucks a string of the violin. It's kind of funny but not as funny as when Brook says it]

If you want him to hear it, then play it. If he actually hears it or not, doesn't really matter, y'know? You get it off your chest, and it's out there in the universe floating around. There's no chance if you don't, right?

[he wasn't going to leave the ship, but seeing Luffy's message makes him want to go out and find his captain. Fortunately, he's not too far.

It takes some work to climb up there, though, so it's not like he can stealthily settle himself next to Luffy. He's there, though, just sitting with him.]

[lists to the side and plunks his head against Zoro's shoulder]

Lots of sake makes you laugh right?

[he wants to laugh and stuff but...]

I don't wanna get stuck in a porthole. [that is a problem]

[it takes him a bit, but then he remembers. That night they all got good and drunk and had a laugh. It makes Zoro sniff a chuckle under his breath]

It's not just the sake, it's the people I share it with.

Maybe if we keep the party out on deck you won't get your ass stuck in a porthole again.

[He was kind of jealous of the Gomu Gomu no Mi just at meal-times.]

[Hasn't seen the journal entry, but he was out wandering around when those screechy violin notes assaulted his ears. He knows Brook is gone, so he follows the sounds until he finds Luffy up on the hermit crab home. Looking glum. B'aww.]

Yo, Luffy. [Eyes the violin.] That thing didn't go with him?

Yo. [looks down at him, and then at the violin] No. I just found it lying somewhere on the island... and there was no one around so I borrowed it.

[he shifts a bit] Wanna come up?

Mm. [he picks his nose absently] I almost died. It was kinda bad.

[If Luffy's looking down, he may spot a little group of tiny snowmen -about as tall as a wine cup-, running down the area and stopping in front of him. If he's not, there will be some noise to try to get his attention.

Either way as soon as he's looking at the little snowmen they will start to perform circus tricks. From some acrobatics to more simple comedian clown-like tricks. It's pretty silly and pointless, but Elsa, who is standing close but mostly hidden, doesn't really know much about comforting people. Especially when she herself is having the same problems as Luffy regarding people being gone.]

Ahh! So coool, na! [he slides down and crouches at them] Oi! Where did you guys come from? Can you speak? Do you live in the crabs? [he pokes one and it falls over, wiggling little feet]

You tried to swallow an orange whole?! That does sound like it really hurts.

But I guess what makes me happy is simply being outdoors. The fresh air, the sound of the birds chirping. It's all very nice.

[Luffy's rarely shown himself willing or able to accept others' advice. Robin's first inclination is to offer some of her own...

But what works for her is vastly different from what works for Luffy, that much would be clear to anyone with half a brain cell. Besides, words are rarely sufficient to clearly explain the depth of human emotion- and Luffy seems to be one of those who takes that depth and stretches it to the extreme.

She listens quietly to the sound of Luffy's requiem for Brook, until she feels her ears will bleed if she subjects them to one more anguished note, and sends a manos fleur to make it stop. A few moments later, she can be seen leaping from shell to shell towards Luffy.]

Perhaps instead of committing aural murder, you'd like to talk instead?

[oh hey, look Robin hands. That makes Luffy feel better just by seeing them and looks over his shoulder as she jumps closer]

Dunno. [he's not sure what to talk about but he scoots over a little so she can sit in a comfortable spot] I thought aur--arora-- I thought that was the shimmery lights at night sometimes.
