[he is sitting on one of the hermit crab homes with a violin case on his lap]

Brook is gone.

I don't wanna stop missing people, but it's hard. There's a some people I'm gonna see again but a lot of people I don't know.

But even if I'm gonna see 'em again or not, missing them hurts. Like before I was rubber and tried to swallow an orange.

But I don't wanna hurt. I wanna be happy.

So what do you do to be happy?

[anything can help at this point. He pulls the violin out and plays a few screechy notes. It's a tribute. A bad one. But a tribute nontheless]

Nah... The sea just ain't very forgiving sometimes.

[Plucks at the violin again, but then sets it in his lap as he murmurs the next verse.]

Then up spoke the Cook of our gallant ship,

[He leans back on his hand, looking at Luffy.]

Why would you care more for kettles and pots? The sea is a lot more interesting than that. [what a weird guy]

[but he nods and begins to sing the song he sung in Skypiea, complete with goat sounds because it just seemed to be a part of it now]

[Rolls his eyes.]

It's about a ship that's gonna sink, Luffy. Sometimes sailors think mermaids are a sign of an impending shipwreck.

[Which is OBVIOUSLY just silly.]

The cook in the song is saying he'd rather be with his pots and shit than at the bottom of the ocean.

[Then he listens to Luffy's song and can't help grinning.]

Ah, that one. I think I've heard you sing it before, but other than that I don't know it.

Shishishi if it was you, he'd rather be with the mermaids, even though it's kinda hard on you. I thought you were gonna die back then! [it had been really funny if he hadn't been kind of worried, too]

It's really great, huh? I like that song. You can sing it anyway you want.

[Goes a bit goofy with a soft sigh and smile.]

Heh, damn straight I'd rather—

[...Wait, what?

His face clears and he blinks, looking over at Luffy.]

I almost what now?

Yeah! You were nose-bleeding everywhere! hahaha [a beat] Oh well I guess not yet. [he gets confused] You really gotta catch up.

[Just staring.]

...So I finally get to Mermaid Paradise and then waste a bunch of shitty time by nearly dying?

[Oi... He scowls.]

Fucking hell, you'd think I'd have that shit under control by then. And I know, I know, but it ain't like I got any control over going back home!

Have you tried training with Zoro? [he didn't know what kind of training Sanji did back at home but...training with Zoro here might help]
