Voice Action for the SH
[he is sitting on one of the hermit crab homes with a violin case on his lap]
Brook is gone.
I don't wanna stop missing people, but it's hard. There's a some people I'm gonna see again but a lot of people I don't know.
But even if I'm gonna see 'em again or not, missing them hurts. Like before I was rubber and tried to swallow an orange.
But I don't wanna hurt. I wanna be happy.
So what do you do to be happy?
[anything can help at this point. He pulls the violin out and plays a few screechy notes. It's a tribute. A bad one. But a tribute nontheless]

[Props the violin up on his shoulder, resting his chin on the chinrest and holding the neck carefully. He holds the bow above the strings like he's seen Brook do a hundred times -- but, obviously, Sanji has no idea how to play a violin, so he just hums instead. Low and soft, to the tune of Binks' Sake, as he fakes drawing the bow back and forth.
He does that for a minute or so, just for the hell of it, then pauses and laughs a little.]
Heh...be kinda cool to be able to play this thing.
[action]
He lets that rest in silence a little because it was so nice, then nods]
We're pirates so we gotta sing. [he can't forget that. Even if they don't have Brook. They still have to remember to sing and sing loud because that's what pirates did]
Do you know any songs?
[action]
[Still holding the violin, and he carefully tests out a few notes -- and then promptly winces, because it's as screechy as it was when Luffy was playing. Brook makes it look so damn easy...]
You gotta know some, too, yeah?
[action]
[he thuds his heels against the shell absently]
Yeah of course! I know some. But I bet you know a lot of ones I don't and I like to hear Sanji sing.
[action]
[Hmph.
Sanji sticks his tongue out at him for a second before remembering he's twenty and a MANLY ADULT, geez. So he stops that and instead huffs and rolls his eyes, returning his attention to the violin and humming under his breath again.]
Mmmm...hmm. Hang on, now I gotta think of one.
[PONDERS. And then—]
Okay. [He grins.] The Mermaid. Ain't exactly my take on things, but then again, after I hit that shitty reef...
[There's a sheepish chuckle, and then he's back to murmuring lyrics again to a traditional upbeat kind of tune -- though he might slow it down a bit since it's just the two of them.]
'Twas Friday morn when we set sail,
And we were not far from the land,
When the Captain, he spied a lovely mermaid,
With a comb and a glass in her hand.
Oh, the ocean waves may roll,
And the stormy winds may blow,
While we poor sailors go skipping to the top.
And the land lubbers lay down below, below, below
And the land lubbers lay down below.
[He glances at Luffy with a grin, and he's started mimicking playing the violin again now.]
Then up spoke the Captain of our gallant ship,
And a brave old man was he,
He said, "This fishy mermaid has warned me of our doom;
We shall sink to the bottom of the sea!"
Oh, the ocean waves may roll,
And the stormy winds may blow,
While we poor sailors go skipping to the top.
And the land lubbers lay down below, below, below
And the land lubbers lay down below.
[Pauses.]
You know this one?
[action]
That's a good one. [kind of sad but not all pirate songs were happy]
I guess the land blubbers couldn't swim. [folds his arms] Maybe they were too fat?
Oh hey, do you know the directions song?
[action]
[Plucks at the violin again, but then sets it in his lap as he murmurs the next verse.]
Then up spoke the Cook of our gallant ship,
And a ["greasy old", nope, Sanji's changing the lyrics—] suave young Cook was he,
"I care more for my kettles and my pots,
Than I do for the roaring of the sea!"
[He leans back on his hand, looking at Luffy.]
Directions song? Don't think so, how's it go?
[action]
[but he nods and begins to sing the song he sung in Skypiea, complete with goat sounds because it just seemed to be a part of it now]
[action]
It's about a ship that's gonna sink, Luffy. Sometimes sailors think mermaids are a sign of an impending shipwreck.
[Which is OBVIOUSLY just silly.]
The cook in the song is saying he'd rather be with his pots and shit than at the bottom of the ocean.
[Then he listens to Luffy's song and can't help grinning.]
Ah, that one. I think I've heard you sing it before, but other than that I don't know it.
[action]
It's really great, huh? I like that song. You can sing it anyway you want.
[action]
Heh, damn straight I'd rather—
[...Wait, what?
His face clears and he blinks, looking over at Luffy.]
I almost what now?
[action]
[action]
...So I finally get to Mermaid Paradise and then waste a bunch of shitty time by nearly dying?
[Oi... He scowls.]
Fucking hell, you'd think I'd have that shit under control by then. And I know, I know, but it ain't like I got any control over going back home!
[action]
[when not dying. He thinks about what Sanji says, cuz it's true. Stupid Ghost guy...]
Have you tried training with Zoro? [he didn't know what kind of training Sanji did back at home but...training with Zoro here might help]
