 I've found out this book is connected to all kinds of people, and it's not private to me.

So I should say 'hi' then. My name is Roxas. My best friend is Axel Lea and he's here with me. 

What kind of people are out there? Who are you? Do you like sea salt ice cream?

What do you do Gaius? What sorts of things do you like?

Oh, you might say I'm an expert at...acquiring things. And opening doors and chests that are locked.

Guess you can say I like sweets. How about you?

I open chests sometimes, or I did before. I don't do it so much anymore. I like sea salt ice cream and Axel- I mean, Lea's my best friend and I have two keyblades.

You did, huh? Ever find anything interesting?

Is your Lea-friend in this crazy place too? What's a keyblade?

Yeah, usually I found potions and stuff. Really useful if the Heartless hurt me.

He is here! Lea came with me, and he's on my boat too. It's a sword that's sort of shaped like a key.

Sounds interesting. ...Heartless?

That's convenient. I ran into someone I know from home early on too. Still kind of getting used to this whole boat thing though.

A key-shaped sword? Guess that's why it's a keyblade. Sounds kind of impractical.

Heartless are creatures that don't have hearts that take them from normal people. Then we were beating up the Heartless and taking the hearts to make Kingdom Hearts.

I don't know if it's impractical, but it's always worked for me at least.

The boat is really cool! I've never seen water like this before, and Riku said we could go to the beach. THE BEACH!

Whoa, what? There are things like that? [That just sounds...well, creepy.]

Kingdom Hearts? Wherever you're from is sounding a lot different from what I know, definitely.

I stick to regular swords myself. No need to be fancy, just has to help keep you alive.

I've been on boats, but not for very long, and I've never expected to live on one either. The beach is pretty nice, but the sand gets kind of annoying after a while.

Yeah, I guess so. I'm a Nobody, I don't have a heart either. Lea has one now though.

I've always wanted to go to the beach! It can't be that annoying.

To each their own. Scenery's nice, and you can find some pretty interesting things, but sand gets everywhere.

Well I showed up out of nowhere because my Somebody lost his heart for a bit. One of those things took it, I think, but I don't really know. When someone like Sora loses his heart, a Nobody appears. So here I am. I don't have the heart, Sora does. He got it back. Usually people remember their lives as Somebody, but not me. I don't have any memories from being Sora.

So... Okay. Let me see if I got this straight.

You and this...Sora guy? Are kind of the same person but not really?

[Wait does that even make sense, he's beginning to think he's only making himself more confused.]

You're alive though, right?

Yeah, I've been here for about a year now, maybe. I'm alive, I think.

I'm like Sora, but I don't know anything about him. I don't remember anything. I've seen a few of his memories in dreams, but aside from that, I don't really know him, or about him.

[He thinks? Well, Roxas at least seems more pleasant than the Risen.]

Well...does it matter?

No, I don't think so. Sora's here too. I'm going to talk to him, I'm just curious about him.

Good. The way it's been sounding, you seem enough of your own person. But I guess it doesn't hurt to be curious about him, given the situation.

So he's here too then? This Sora guy.

Yeah, there's Lea and me and Sora and Riku and Kairi. She says I talked to her once, but I don't remember that. She kind of looks like Namine.

I'm not alone. There's a lot of people on this ship. There's the girl with the brown hair too, and the captain um...Ace! That was it.

I meant from your world, but yeah, doesn't seem like there's any shortage of people around here at least. The ones on the ship I'm on are pretty friendly too.
