High Seas is a panfandom RPG that is a one part mod-controlled events (treasure hunts! sea beast attacks! a ticked off Naval force!), a couple parts slice of life (on a ship!), and many, many parts create your own adventure! In this mythical pirate world, the only preexisting city is Isla Empieza. Once you set sail from the island it's located on, the world is your oyster!
[It begins with a crash, the flutter of pages as the book clatters open on the floor. The unmistakable thud of something hard hitting wood, and the crack as it splinters in the keyblade's wake. The noise repeats itself again and again.]
No. No no no.
[He's infuriated because anger is the most comforting emotion he has, the one he is most familiar with. His voice cracks a little though as he makes a mess of his room. The sounds of his anger begin to slow, and it ends in one simple thud as he hits the ground, breathless. His voice comes through hoarse and worn out, full of sorrow.]
[For the crew, there might be a strange smell. Suspiciously like burning wood. If one is near the galley there may in fact be some smoke coming out of it.
[At first it is silent, then there is a small sigh and Roxas speaks softly.]
Where's Kairi...
[He frowns in his sleep. There is a beat or two before his voice comes back, still sleep addled but louder, angrier. The tone is accusing. It isn't at all like his usual flash of anger, it's a lot more restrained.]
...talking about Riku!
[He makes a few distressed noises. His dreams are not normally this vivid, particularly when they are not his own. He's thrashing a little in his hammock.]
Kairi...KAIRI!
[Roxas is breathing hard, his brow damp and lost in the nightmare. Crew is welcome to wake him and tell him to be quiet. Journal responses can expect a delay of about five minutes.]
I sound funny, my hair isn't spikey anymore and I don't really know where I am. I went to sleep last night with my parrot at my feet but I woke up alone in a weird place.
Am I lost in dream?
[Action for the Friend Ship of Justice crew]
[You can expect Roxas wandering around, rubbing his eyes sleepily and trying to figure out where he is because this is clearly not the Hazmat ship.]
[There is a rustle of papers, before an unfamiliar voice speaks up.]
Tell me about this journal. What is it really?
[There's a pause and a small grunt before Roxas' voice comes through.]
I don't know anything about it.
How about that...interesting tattoo of yours? Hm? [There's another beat of silence.] Aren't you hungry kid? [Another few beats.] Got nothing to say? What a shame. Bring him for execution as a worthless pirate.
[There is a click, the sound of a manacle being opened so they can move him, but it's a mistake. It's followed with a scream and then chaos. Another click can be heard and the sounds of a scuffle. The book hits the ground and there's a few other cries. The silence comes full force and there's a smear of blood on the journal as it's picked up and half shoved into a pocket. ]
[The respite is short because they're banging the door in. The sounds of angry shouting, gunfire and the clang of metal clashing fill the air unwittingly. Footsteps on the ground and a smug voice takes over.]
You're surrounded. Give up and die a much less painful death.
[Roxas scoffs. Surrounded? Please. Anyone near this base would see all at once an explosion of light, accompanied with the screams of people who dare stand in his way. Before the litany of escape is over, an onlooker would see another explosion of light and finally, smoke rising as he gets out of the building. He pulls the journal out of his pocket again, fingers smearing more blood on the pages.]
Lea. [Roxas is breathing hard from exertion.] I'm not sure where I am.
[After the curse ended he was happy, thrilled to be back to his old self but he remembers everything that happened a week ago and his spirits plummet. By the evening, he's sitting with his journal. There's a bit of a clicking noise, fingernails on the pages as Roxas seems to mull things over. He isn't sure what to say.
After a minute he sighs.]
I miss my friends on the Spades.
[He winces a little bit. He's trying to be brave and make new friends but he misses his other friends too. He's never been in this kind of hard place before.]
Sorry Lea.
[He murmurs this finally, because it feels a little like betrayal.]
[Roxas was killed by a friend who completely lost it on the 12th. When he comes around, he's lying on the ground, in the grass at the base of the volcano on Aeolipile Island. Since he doesn't know where he is and he's beyond confused, he's got his journal open and he's speaking in a soft voice.]
[This guy has been fighting. Hard. Even now, he's still fighting.
Even so, it's getting way beyond even something he can keep a firm grip on. Hence, a shaking hand suddenly dropping the journal onto the deck of the ship. The journal lands, open, face up in front of him. The Keyblade-wielder then drops to his knees, hand balling into fists on either side of his head, eyes widened.
Through clenched teeth, there's going to be a frustrated yell.]
NO! I won't do it! You can't make me! I won't listen to you!
[He can't. He just.
He can't kill...them...
His breathing is escalated to a rapid pant, before his eyes snap shut. Just long enough for his breathing to, very slowly, return to a slower pace. He seems to have regained composure. For a moment, he seems...somewhat...back to normal.
For a moment.
Then, he's slowly standing, brow furrowed, eyes appearing just...slightly unfocused. Suddenly, a key-shaped blade is flashing into one hand. Head tilted at a slight downward angle, he...definitely doesn't appear to be entirely in his right mind.
If anyone is near him, they might...not want to be.]
