Happy birthday [ ........ nope too shy to go on. She cuts herself off with giggles at and is almost audibly covering her face. She still sounds pretty pleased though; ] Ah, never mind, forget that! It's too embarrassing!

But, back when everyone was still at Isla Empieza, did anyone see somewhere that might have cake? Just a small one would be fine...

Mah, I tend to hate getting presents from others, since it gets confusing, but you can usually get something to treat yourself, ne?

I'm hoping to get a cake to share with my crew. That'd be the best treat.

I come from a really huge family. Sixteen hundred of us, actually. So keeping track of all that and making sure no one feels left out gets messy. I'd rather watch them all get drunk and act ridiculous.

Aha~! And thus the inquiry. Wish I could help more. What's your favorite flavor?

[ a very long pause; too distracted to even answer the flavor question. ]

[A small laugh. That response never gets old. He still misses them all, but getting a chance to hang out with Ace is something any of them would happily jump on.]

Aye. My Pops always wanted a big family. Do you think he succeeded?

Definitely! Sometimes our household felt crowded with just four of us... I can't even imagine!

Luckily we had a bunch of ships, but aye. "Alone time," is a very precious thing.

I'm a pirate back in my world. My father was a pirate emperor, one of the best and strongest pirates in all of history.

[Okay, he likes you. And that gets another laugh.] A little. To be honest, my own world has a bunch of idiot rookies coming through my ocean all the time trying to start stuff, so I suppose I should be used to it. [But he's not, because they are all pains in the butt!]

The ones who make it fun are usually worth all the rest though, eh? And you wouldn't believe how reckless my own nakama can be. [Ace. Ace, no. Stop. Come back. Eh whatever, Marco doesn't even know why he tries.] Are you at least enjoying yourself so far?

Yes! So far it's very fun! The ocean is really pretty to see all the time, and I'm excited for when we actually visit an island.

Can't say I'm familiar with the slang. But I'm not always as up to date on these things as I'd like.

Movies are recordings - like moving pictures. So people use them to tell stories.

A what?

Den den mushi... they are these little psychic snails that telepathically communicate with each other. With enough machinery they can also be used by people to cast transmissions over long distances.

Like the book... but with a snail.

Most of them only send faxes or audio, but a few send video.

[ w...... what........ Her response takes a minute..... and sounds really unsure.... ]

We have machines that do that. They use electricity instead of any, um, telepathy.

That sounds kind of boring. What do you do for mail? We have seagulls in my world.

Eh? Just regular cars and people deliver mail. And if needs to go far it goes on airplanes and stuff, I think.
