[It's been a day or so since the battle and the Doctor has had time to calm down and get his head together. Everyone is relatively alright, sure, and the Navy fortress has been reduced to a smoldering heap by Ace, Ikki, and his own inventions. But he's got a few thoughts about all of this, and as usual he's not terribly good at the whole staying quiet thing.]

Right, so, I've got a bit of a question. Aside from the whole...stereotypical law thing...does anyone know exactly why the Navy of this world is out to get us? Most of us aren't really out to overthrow governments, steal things, and plunder ships.

'Course, that doesn't seem to matter much, does it? No, not really. And it sort of makes one wonder what sort of nonsense assumptions they're working under. At least, it does me.

Anyway. Guess that's a moot point for me. [His voice gets a bit colder.] Magnets, it seems, are a wonderful tool for causing all kinds of mayhem with their forts. So, I guess if any of you listening to this are Navy types, I'd appreciate it if you'd not give me cause to come up with something new. Next time I won't be so forgiving.

[And it softens again as his warning is delivered.]

Oh, right. And also if anyone knows where I can find a few well polished bits of quartz, well...I need them for a bit of a project.

[And with that random barrage of information, the Doctor closes the book, apparently already distracted by something else.]

[This script is absurdly good, the sort of writing that convinces the reader that good penmanship is a waste of time because it'll never reach this level with any amount of practice.]

To my fellow pirates and all others reading this,

I have met some of you, but for those I have not, my name is Princess Celestia, and I owe you an apology. Despite my best efforts, this is not my world, and thus, this is not my sun. I have tried to raise it many times over this past very long night, but with no success at all. For those of you who had to endure... less than pleasant circumstances, I can only offer my sympathies.

On that note, particularly if you are somepony I've met here, I would like to hear from you and know you are all right. I assure you I am well in turn.

I'd like to hear what everypony learned during this long night, as well. After such a trying time, it helps to put words to the lessons you have learned during these dark spots. Whether this was an act of caprice or malice, we undo the whims of the forces that oppose us by growing and learning from what we experience.

~Princess Celestia

[Mami stares at the page for the longest time. She's been meaning to do this for days but... Even today she's still not sure it's such a good idea but since it's not something she could manage to talk about with her crew, even with Madoka and Homura then...]

I would like to ask all of you here a few questions.

The first one is: If you were given the opportunity to make one wish, one single wish, would it be about yourself or about someone else?

And the second one is: Did you ever regret wishing for something to happen once it had actually become true and it was too late for you to do anything about it?

I undestand those could be seen as very personal questions. So feel free to answer anonymously if you prefer.

Thank you very much in advance for your time.

[She sighs, re-reading what she's just written. Well all what's left for her to do now is wait.]

[At first there's nothing before a doodle )

slowly starts to appear in the corner of the paper. Hector's not going to be winning any art contests, and it's clearly a thing that's from memory as there are slight hesitations here and there as it takes shape, but finally when it's done, the silence stretches, and at first...That seems to be it. That's the entry.

But only because he's really, really loathe to ask you lot a damn thing.]

Color me...Stupidly curious, but given what's going on at the moment, I don't suppose anyone's clapped their eyes on a bit of shine as looks like that, have they.

[Because considering what he's heard over this stupid journal, that is a distinct and worrisome possibility.]

The other day, an octopus gave us something while we were sailing. It sort of looks like this:

But smaller.

Is this something important?

*...It's red, now.

Okay, everyone, listen listen! I've been doing some thinking lately and I realized that it would be a good idea to make a list of everyone's birthdays! We're all just getting to know each other and it's not something you think to ask about right away, but then you feel bad when you don't know! Maybe if I make a list here in the journal where everyone can see it, we can all keep track of it and wish each other happy birthday on our special days!

Here's the ones I know so far:

[You all remember Hector, of course. The ass who's torn apart most of the folks who've asked stupid questions? And has been highly offended at the assumptions about the way he speaks? Well, he's just come upon a thought that struck him out of the blue, and really, in his opinion you just might want to pay attention.

But hoo boy, does he sound full of schadenfreude. Because he is.]

Just as an aside, as that execution do bring some things to mind. At least for meself, as I'm a bit more versed in the laws and rules of the sea...

You do realize, o'course, with your sailing and bartering without proper papers - letters o' marque or otherwise granting you permission to do such from a nation - you are all, in fact, committing acts of piracy, aye?

No papers, no authority to conduct yourself as a legitimate crew. No authority, of course, to organize yourself in a militaristic force. You aren't privateers. You aren't merchants, and you aren't treasure hunters.

You're pirates. Piss poor excuses for pirates, I'll grant ye that, but not a single soul brought to this place has authority to do anything. You're conducting in black market trade, operating a craft that is not, in fact, registered in any home port, and not a single one among ye has a place ye make berth.

This, of course, does include our little ship full o'sparkle and light in the name of justice et cetera, et cetera.

Pirates, the lot of you. Every last one of you be staring at Jack Ketch, waiting to be the next to dance the jig. No matter your noble intentions.

[Kay is very happy, peppy and totally unconcerned about being kidnapped. Well, she's been here for a little over a month and is actually having a good time despite everything.]

Looks like new people are popping up, huh? But if you're looking for treasure, you're gonna have to contend with The Golden and Glorious Normandy, 'cause we're ace treasure hunters, and that big ol' ruby is the biggest treasure of all!

[A pause as she gives a loud whoop.]

Anyway, we may be stuck here, but we should at least enjoy it and seize this opportunity to go on adventures! The rolling seas are waitin', mateys! Arrrrrr!

[OOC: I'll still be chugging along on all my other threads! I will remain slow because my finals aren't over yet.]

Ahoy, everyhewman! What's 'sup?! There's a lot of new faces now, right?! Has everypony found a crew yet?! Did you see that humongous zombie guy with the bread crumbs in his beard?! [A pause] Or at least they look like bread crumbs!

I wonder how long before the villagers try to chase us out of Isla Empezia. Holy MOLY they were angry last time! [She giggles, because it was pretty fun running from them!] Once you see a lake of torches from the town, RUN FOR IT, OKAY?!

Oh! If anypony wants an eyepatch, come meet me by the docks! Gummy and I will be handing them out!

Yohoho!

So, it's come to my attention that a lot of people think my panties are pretty weird. ... My magic panties, that is. [ As if to clarify, a doodle of a pair of bloomers pops up next to her words. ]

If you think that... well, just think of them as a foldable top-hat, okay? They're just another magic prop.

[ And the writing stops there.

If you're viewing this about half an hour later, a bunch of doodles start - hearts, diamonds and stars as well as doodles of some strange people with spiky hair pointing. They're nothing special, there's no breathtaking artistic talent, just the doodling ability of any bored high schooler. The first spiky haired stranger also ends up with a beanie on his head, covering his spikes. ]

[ Madoka's voice comes over the journal singing!! ]

Happy birthday to me~! Happy birthday to me~!

Happy birthday [ ........ nope too shy to go on. She cuts herself off with giggles at and is almost audibly covering her face. She still sounds pretty pleased though; ] Ah, never mind, forget that! It's too embarrassing!

But, back when everyone was still at Isla Empieza, did anyone see somewhere that might have cake? Just a small one would be fine...

Hello, this is Captain Celestia Ludenberg of The Antoinette. For those of you who hadn't paid attention to the conversation Kaito-kun and myself had regarding "Scurvey Dog", allow me to explain. Thanks to the recent string of wasted questions we've dealt with as of late, I've decided that in order to ensure we do not waste yet another question, we should take a vote each week to decide what question gets asked and what person gets to ask it. Do keep in mind that both are important, as even the best question can be useless if the person asking it cannot speak clearly.

Originally I had planned to post this earlier, but due to the massive storm that hit our ship I had more important issues to deal with. We're all alright, for those who are curious. A bit shook up, but nothing major.

Regardless, onto the main point of this message. I myself will not be collecting the votes. Rather, I will be collecting the questions that each of you want answered, as well as the names of any volunteers who wish to ask Scurvey Dog the question we choose. Kaito-kun will be taking care of the actual voting, so look out for his post in a few days time.

So far, I have these questions collected:

1) What is the hard way of getting back home?
2) Why does Davy Jones want the ruby?
3A) Since we use the ruby to wish ourselves home, does that wish count for all of us or just the person who completes the ruby?
3B) If it counts for everyone, can those who prefer to stay here do so?
4) Which Nation does the navy hail from?
5) How the local sailors navigate by night?
6) What has been down to our bodies and powers?"
7) What kinds of weapons and tools does the navy possess?"
8) What information does the navy have on us?"

And that's it. I will update the list as time goes on. As for the people who wish to ask him the question, they are as follows:

1) Myself, Celestia Ludenberg
2) Kuroba Kaito

Along with the questions list, I will be updating this list as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here. I will answer them to the best of my ability; that is all.

[The voice speaking seems...thoughtful, although people who have heard it before may wonder why, because the speaker has a tendency to be more upbeat than this.]

It's been a while since we got tossed into Ghost Pirate Land. While I'm up for some adventure and treasure hunting, I've been thinking. We've been pulled away from our homes and people we know, right? I wonder what they're doing right now, or if they'd even notice we're gone...

[Pause.]

I mean, if you take someone from wherever they were and keep them for about a week, people who know that someone are bound to notice that they're gone, right? It's logic!

...

Then again, if they've got magic up their sleeve that gives us books like these and ghost pirates and all that, I bet they've got a way to patch that up, too. The question is, how?

Oh, by the way, for those who don't know me, I'm Kay Faraday. Just call me Kay. I hope that's 'kay with you! [The cheer returns to her voice as she chuckles at her little joke.]

It has been made known that I am from the past! At least, to most of you. Really, the clothing should have tipped me off, you guys have it really... really rough, whatever time it is you're from. Some of the things you wear hurt my eyes.

But, I do have an important question!

I'd love to know of important events-- favorably something closer to my time, but I won't be picky. It's nothing short of earnest curiosity! As someone presented with a rare opportunity, I'd like to take advantage of it. For history and the pursuit of knowledge!

[ And betting on the winning horse. And possibly writing a correct book of predictions to stash somewhere and secure his legacy, not that he's told anyone about that yet. ]

13 September 2013 @ 06:02 am
These journals are cute, and convenient! But ah, I'll skip the boring part. An excellent ship is only part of the fun. A good crew is a vital piece of the puzzle. But we're sort of missing what the heck we're putting together in the first place, don't you think~?

[ The voice is a young adult woman's; somewhere around teenage to twenties, from the sound of it. Her tone is lilting, amused, and very, very CURIOUS. She's definitely found the right sort with Grell, but facts remain... there's other things she wants. Needs. Is curious of. ]

But what matters most... the right ingredients! A drop of luck, a dash of skill, and just a pinch of magic.

[ As if to prove that point, anyone listening to this will find a small flower drawing appearing on the page, but then it slowly materializes into a real, honest-to-goodness flower of whatever color you can imagine! Is it special beyond that? Not in the slightest. Is there a point? NOPE. Just for fun. ]

The question is, who among you believes in the most vital part...? And what sort of magic... might we be seeking? This treasure must surely be some powerful magical artifact, after all... huhuhu. Indulge me, won't you? Tell me your thoughts, my audience.

... Oh, and I'm looking for someone who may or may not have been brought here... brown hair. Nurse's outfit. Regular human. Goes by the name Juri. If you see her... tell me.

Makoto, Rei: we are getting a boat. You can choose the name: between Mackerel, Halibut and Salmon, which do you like best?

Do we have enough money for a boat, or do we need more people?

And, has anybody seen this person?

[So! How are you settling in, new arrivals? Have you interrogated the locals yet? Certainly you must have flipped through your journals by now though, only to find them completely and utterly empty.]

[Well. Completely and utterly empty until, sometime closer to evening, someone finally decides to write in theirs]

[. . . er. Well, draw instead of write, it seems. Though underneath the crudely drawn image is some scratched text, written in Kaito's sloppy handwriting]

Future note to self: pirates hate magic. And soap. They definitely hate soap.

[Someone hasn't figured out these things can be used to communicate with others yet]
