[The handwriting on the journal page is a little messy and sharp, but still readable. It's also done entirely in orange marker.]
Let me see if I got this shit straight here. We're brought here by some asshole and we're stuck until we can find theShikon Jewel [There's a scribble line through the words, but it's still readable.] Piedra Roja gem, which has been broken into shards across the Seven Seas.
Am I the only one who finds this all annoyingly cliche? This is the part where someone would bitch and moan about having better things to be doing back home, but complaining isn't going to be getting anyone anywhere.
So here's the deal. I'm getting my own ship and setting sail on this bitch, anyone around port up to joining me? Yes, that would make me the Captain and that's non-negotiable. I don't care how much or how little experience you have so long as you want to find this gem as much as I do. What we don't know we can easily learn, so the only problem will be if you're a fucking douchebag who doesn't know how to take sensible orders. I know there's going to be some trust issues here, but the more people go off on their own the less likely it'll be to gather as many shards as possible. It's not like we have much of a fucking say in the matter, so anyone up for it?
And for those of you who've been here longer, any information on any progress that's been made would be appreciated.

What kind of commotion was it?
no subject
Well, there were several commotions. Dense fog, everlasting night, and ghosts that bring a plague of curses. There may have been more, of course.
no subject
Sounds like a hell of a time. So has that shit all cleared up by now? And asking on the off chance you might have a guess, do you have any idea what direction most ships have been heading once they leave Isla Empieza?
no subject
The fog has lifted, yet I do not know about the curse. It may still be lingering about.
Most crews head of in any direction they see fit, so no, I haven't the foggiest.
no subject
What exactly was the curse?
I only asked about the other ships because it would be preferable to head in a less traveled direction to cover more ground, but I'll just go with my instincts on that one.
no subject
Some were turned into rather unsavory beings. Some died. Some were unaffected.
You should probably go where the Navy is not.
no subject
Avoiding the navy is a given and speaking on that matter, are there any areas in particular they've been frequently sighted or is it more of a keep your eyes open sort of deal? I think it shouldn't be too hard to get a radar system installed on my ship, so in any case it wouldn't be much of an issue.
As for the curse shit, looks like that's a wait and see type deal. I'll keep it in mind, but not going to worry about it.
no subject
The Navy seems to pop up anywhere they see fit. A radar system would be welcomed with open arms should you develop one.
With this world, we may have other things to be concerned with than just a week long curse.
no subject
I spent half my life building and programming robots, I can make a radar system in my sleep. Not too fond of the idea of mass production, however if I have enough materials I might be able to sling one your way.
In a world like this, we should be concerned with every single fucking thing that comes our way.
no subject
Impressive! If you do manage to have extra materials, or perhaps we could provide what you're lacking, that would be much appreciated.
I'm afraid we may have to agree to disagree on that last point. [She's lived too long to concern herself with mortal affairs much.]
no subject
You're in luck. Looks like I've got the only radar system I'll need, so any materials I can scrounge up can be used to hook you up with one. Under one condition. In exchange, you've got to keep me updated on any findings your ship comes across. Be it shards, islands, navy positions or even useful rumors, help me out and I'll help you.
no subject
I believe I can do that much. You have a deal.
no subject
Name's Dirk Strider, though there's a high percentage chance I may be using the name Cap'n Di-Stri around here.
1/2
[Oh, no way is she ever calling him D-Stri.]
Well met, Mister...
no subject
This may be a shot in the dark, but do you know of anyone named Dave Strider? He has a penchant for round sun glasses and an odd array of music at his disposal by means of an eye pod or what have you.
no subject
How old is he?
[He regrets writing it the moment he does, feeling like an idiot at losing his cool. But it would be even more telling if he scratched it out, so he rolls with it as he regains some of his composure.]
Dave Strider is my brother. There's three variations of him to my knowledge, however I haven't gotten the chance to meet any of them before.
no subject
He looks about...sixteen? Seventeen? The ages for humans are sometimes hard to tell, but he is a young adult, at least. If you ever wish to see him, he is aboard my ship.
no subject
It's another few minutes longer before he answers, having spaced out staring at his journal as his mind ran wild with potential outcomes.]
In that case, I'll be delivering the radar personally when it's ready.
What's your name and the name of your ship?
no subject
Then I look forward to meeting you in person, Dirk.
My name is Grell, and our ship is the Golden Rapier.
no subject
No offense, but your name and hand writing aren't exactly telling so I gotta ask. Chick or dude?
no subject
Are you insinuating that I'm a hatchling of some fowl? I'm not sure what a dude is, though.
no subject
To put it simply, sinewave is a wave frequency that's commonly used in mathematics, physics and engineering, as well as occurring in nature in ocean, sound and light waves.
Chick is another term for female and dude is a term for male.
no subject
So it can be found among echoes?
A rather odd terminology. I'm very much a lady, however.
no subject
It's more like a whistle, or the sound a tuning fork makes. An echo is more of a reflection of sound with the time delay being calculated by taking the extra distance and dividing it by the speed of sound.
I'll keep in mind to try and lay off the slang to avoid too much confusion in the future.
no subject
I see. It sounds rather fascinating! [Now she wants to read all about sinewaves, even if it'll just make her head spin.]
If only your brother could do the same. A lot of what he says sometimes doesn't make sense.
