So we know that shit's going to be going down with fresh meat arriving on Isla Empieza in about a week. If there are any ships who are heading back in that direction and wouldn't mind a few extra tag alongs, hit me up.

To the sailors of Davy Jones,

[there's the sound of distant, muffled panic, though the writer's hand remains steady.]

Due to a certain impulse-renovating incident, Isla Empieza will be heavily monitored by the government until further notice. Pirates are not welcome.

[and one can hear the shouts of a naval officer,

"Everyone remain calm! We, the Navy, are taking this island over! Any pirates are to be captured on sight to be tried - if they resist, they will be killed! Any citizen caught giving aid or refuge to a pirate will be brought to court as well, for conspiring against the government!"

the loud cries cease, quieting suddenly, as a low hum of murmurs and hushed whispers begin to rise - it's impossible to catch anything they're saying, however.]

Any pirate caught will be put to death, as I'm sure you're all aware. If you are still on the island, for your own safety you should leave without haste. Those without a crew or ship, Backwater Brig carries a Naviraimant. Don't crowd, please.

For now, I am loathe to say that Backwater Brig will be inaccessible for quite some time. Never fear, however—for the need of our patrons, we sail the world for the highest quality items.

Until we meet again,
- M. M.

[As of November 19th, Isla Empieza is closed! Everyone is/will be/has been shuffled off the island! Feel free to assume your character was manhandled/booted out by villagers, had a fight with the Navy, and/or fled to Miss Margie's shop and left via Naviraimant. Ultimately, however, your characters have been booted off the island, one way or another.]

[The roar of the surf! The bang of fireworks! A fanfare of trumpets! These are the sounds that greet (assault?) the pirate who flips to this newly-minted page in their mysterious journal. There's also some dramatic chiaroscuro portrait of Leonmitchelli at the top of the page.

Someone clearly believes that an introduction should make an impression.]

As I don't intend to follow our host's poor example, allow me to introduce myself! I am Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois: supreme ruler of the Galette Lion Dominion, peerless amongst warriors!

[There's a swish as someone clearly forgets that this isn't televised and no one can see her dramatically flinging her cape around. Her voices loses some of its bombast as she moves on to business... though 'some' means there's still plenty to go around.]

I answered the call thinking I'd find a worthy quest, but instead I've been stood up. It's the same for all of you, or so I hear. 'If you want to do anything interesting, you have to go find it yourself. If you want to go back, find the way yourself.' It's an insult, but it's an insult that's better than nothing, so I'll take to the seas too.

So tell me: who among you deserves that the Knight of the King of Beasts sail with you?

Yo. Name's Captain Strider, and if there's any of you stragglers around who still haven't hooked yourself a crew, talk to me. Going to be setting sail in a few days for my crews first expedition and it never hurts to have a few extra sets of hands on board. Or paws or hooves, whatever you've got. I don't discriminate. Whatever you don't know how to do, I can teach you so long as you want to learn.

Hey everyone! So I was buying supplies for our ship's galley today, and an idea came to mind!

We're all here on this big ocean together, right? Plus, a bunch of new people showed up, and they're trying to get settled in and find out more of what to expect... Well, my papa always said that nothing brings people together like good food...

... So I thought, maybe all the different crews should arrange a big get together! Not on Impieza, of course, that might make people nervous... but any neutral territory would do! We could all prepare a bunch of different food, show up on the island together, eat, talk to each other... it'd be a great show of solidarity!

What do you all think?

THIS WORLD SUCKS!!!

[For someone that's been forced to write in a diary for the past seven years, Luke's handwriting sure does look like cheagle scratch. It doesn't help that he's fed up and annoyed, which only serves to make his already crappy handwriting that much worse.]

I used to love the ocean, but I can't stand it any more! All we ever do is sail over here, get attacked by giant moths, sail over here, lose some crew members in a fog, sail over here, pick up some brats. It's so damn boring, and now we're going back to that stupid island we started out from again!? Even though everyone said we should get off of there as soon as possible?!

I hate this! I want something different to do!

[...just be glad this is written, and you don't actually have to hear his bratty ranting.]

Welcome Welcome New Arrivals!

Since we seem to get new people around this time every month, it's time to go over the birthdays for the next month!

Today the 13th is Henry's birthday! Happy birthday, Henry!

This Sunday the 17th is Cap'n Makoto's birthday! We're gonna have a party on the boat, so let me know if you wanna come, Rin

Next Sunday the 24th is MY birthday! Hooray!

Upcoming birthdays for December: Kay on the 1st and Rei on the 14th!

I know all you new folks can't see my list because of magic journal-y reasons, but if you wanna let me know your birthdays, I'll add them all in!

Isla Empieza

Well I'll be damned. Or not. This was not what I expected past death's door. And here I thought it wouldn't surprise me the second time.

'Scurvey Dog,' huh? No one trustworthy calls himself that, but then they clearly don't care. Kinda like that, actually. I don't need to be told to set sail, though. Finding a crew, though ... nay, that won't be hard.

Feel stiff as a board, though.

Isla Empieza, where is that? I must have fainted again, because I woke up in the middle of the street but nothing looks familiar. I found this journal here in my pocket, and I know I didn't have it before. Everything about this place looks old and outdated. I didn't think there were any places like this around. I don't really know where I am. Is this some district of Sapporo?

People are moving and bustling around, which is normal, but even the shopkeepers can't tell me where to get the bus back to Ezonoo. I don't know what a Scurvey Dog is, or why there's a note in this journal, but I guess if it's meant to belong to someone else, they're not around anymore. It's portable, maybe I could put my math and science formulas in here for quick study.

As always, there are no bars on my phone. Why can't my phone ever work when I need it to?

[How strange.]

[...Well, moreso than usual.]

[Codi's already tried chatting up the locals, and while they seem friendly and forthcoming enough about most things--where she is, where the best places to eat and hang out are, the weather--none of them are terribly interested in the important things, that being, why. Why exactly is she here? Why is that weird poem carved on the fountain, and why is everyone so paranoid about it? Why is the journal she woke up with the only thing willing to answer these questions?]

[Also, why does the journal talk to her? Sure, some of the entries that magically appear are written, but many others are dictations that spontaneously stop and start when she flips the page, and Codi's not quite sure how she feels about this. It's cool, she thinks? The fact that it's not electronic is kind of interesting. Can she make one, too?]

[She supposes there's only one way to find out. Plopping down on the central fountain after her third circuit of the island town and harbor, the ginger lazily flips open her journal to a random blank page and, after a moment's inspection of the yellowed corners, brazenly yells into the cover: ]

Hey! Is this on?

[...Yeah, she's new around here. How could you tell?]

[The handwriting on the journal page is a little messy and sharp, but still readable. It's also done entirely in orange marker.]

Let me see if I got this shit straight here. We're brought here by some asshole and we're stuck until we can find the Shikon Jewel [There's a scribble line through the words, but it's still readable.] Piedra Roja gem, which has been broken into shards across the Seven Seas.

Am I the only one who finds this all annoyingly cliche? This is the part where someone would bitch and moan about having better things to be doing back home, but complaining isn't going to be getting anyone anywhere.

So here's the deal. I'm getting my own ship and setting sail on this bitch, anyone around port up to joining me? Yes, that would make me the Captain and that's non-negotiable. I don't care how much or how little experience you have so long as you want to find this gem as much as I do. What we don't know we can easily learn, so the only problem will be if you're a fucking douchebag who doesn't know how to take sensible orders. I know there's going to be some trust issues here, but the more people go off on their own the less likely it'll be to gather as many shards as possible. It's not like we have much of a fucking say in the matter, so anyone up for it?

And for those of you who've been here longer, any information on any progress that's been made would be appreciated.
