I know...and I'm sorry I'm in such crappy condition or I'd be massaging you myself right now...but I think after a short stay on the island I'll be better.

[he looked down at his hand, at how dry the skin still looked. Being part shark had it's disadvantages at times]

We could find you a pool. Would that help? It'd be water but not sea water...

*Faye stared down at her tea, hands clasping a little too tightly around the cup*

Are you going to be okay...?

Yeah, I'll be okay. If I go a long time, like a month or so without sea water specifically I'll start to feel malnourished...but going without submerging in any water for a few days is what makes my skin like this. Swimming in fresh water will make it normal again... Hopefully we'll figure out what's going on between me and sea water within a month.

Oh, I'll have figured it out by then. Like I said, it seems like an allergic reaction...but I'll have to look into it somewhere. Meantime, when we get to the island, at least there will be other pools you can use...

*Faye sipped her tea then cleared her throat, glancing up at him in concern, but clearly trying to lighten the mood a little*

I wouldn't mind soaking in a pool with you for a while...

Yeah, that sounds great...and I'd love it if you'd join me [he finished eating the rest of his food and downing yet another bottle of water]

I'm impressed you guys were able to sail to
me with just the three of you...the ship must be a pain to handle with three

Barely. And to be honest, I don't really know how it worked. I did nothing...

*She shrugged as she picked up her tea and finished it off*

We're probably going to have to join another crew as it is...

Id be all for it. There's strength in numbers. But something tells me Grell won't accept a deal unless she's the top captain, heh...

[he stood up] you wanna head to the island now?

*Faye looked at him carefully, eyeing him over for any sign that he wasn't well or that he was unhappy*

Now? Are you sure? Shouldn't you rest?

I feel cruddy, but... It's really uncomfortable to be this dry. And I'm real itchy...I'm not sure id be able to sleep. I slept a lot on that island too, cuz there wasn't much else to do...I think I'll feel better after a dip in a pool.

[and besides physical discomfort, he was also sort of mentally bothered by the whole experience, but he didn't intend to trouble her by talking about it]

Well...if that's what you think is best.

*Faye sighed heavily and got up, then started moving around to clear up and wash the dishes*

Then let's go.

I know you're probably tired though so as soon as I get wet we can rest...does that sound okay?

[her sigh had sounded pretty burnt out]

*Faye dried her hands on a towel then turned to face Thash again. Her eyes were sad, apologetic, and she ran a hand over her face*

I'm sorry, Thash... I'm sorry. This wasn't the welcome you wanted, I bet. I'm just... I missed you. A lot.

It's okay. There's nothing to be sorry for...it must've been hard to deal with. I missed you too, of course, but I...wasn't fully aware of the passage of time or what happened. I wasn't waiting day after day while hours dragged by.

It was the worst. And I never want it to happen again.

*Faye walked over to stand in front of him, reaching out to touch his jaw, her eyes on his*

I won't let it happen. I'd sooner die than to break this promise.

[he looked down at her, feeling sort of sad but sort of grateful and admiring the fiery determination in her eyes. Dang, it felt good to be truly loved]

Thank you. I feel the same way about you, Faye. [he reached a hand out to softly stroke her cheek]

*Faye moved her arms to wrap around his waist gently and shuffled a bit closer to him. She closed her eyes when he touched her cheek, and she whispered gently*

Are you feeling well enough to kiss me yet?

[he smiled slowly]

Yeah, I can do that

[he lifted her chin and pressed his lips against hers firmly but gently]

*Faye leaned hard against him as she accepted his kiss, and she tried her best to return them, her lips eager, but she was soon crying, her tears salty in the kiss*

[hed been trying to ignore the despairing thoughts and emotions that would naturally accompany dying. He'd been trying not to think about the fact that he had been nearly permanently separated from her. If that had happened in his world or hers, he wouldn't have come back...he'd never see her again. But those thoughts and emotions came to him now as she cried, and he couldn't help but join her. He kissed her harder, wrapping his arms and hands and tail around her and just feeling her physically there]

*Slowly Faye paused in the kissing, but keeping herself close as she opened her eyes and gazed up at him*

Look at me. You've turned me to into a big sappy soppy vulnerable mushy gushy mess.

*Though she was smiling softly when she said it*

Eheh...[he smiled s bit himself, glancing away and wiping a hand across his face]

Right back at you...[but then he looked at her again and wiped some of the wetness from her cheeks with his thumbs]

Dunno what I'd do without you, Faye. I guess Id just fall apart.

You would. You'd be a real mess and so would I. Neither of us would exist anymore.

*She laughed softly and reached up to kiss any places on his face where there were still traces of tears*

Come on. Let's get you to that island so you can go for a swim.

Yeah...[he smiled as she kissed him]

That sounds great.

[so he'd help get the shop over to the docks and seek out the nearest freshwater pool, which happened to be at a water park]

*By the time they arrived at the water park, Faye was in a much better mood. She was wearing a sundress with her bikini underneath and had a beach bag with her. She'd had enough time to pick herself up, telling herself she had to be strong for him. Faye steered him directly into the park*

Okay. There should be a pull you can use somewhere... it's pretty busy though so I don't know if you could find a private one...

Yeah probably not private but...hey, water's water right now. I just need to soak in it for a it then we can go somewhere else if you want. I know you're not much into water slides and noise, heh.
