7th rise of the phoenix ஜ Voice / Action for Spades

[His voice is heavy and a bit hoarse but still easy to understand. He has yet to hit the bottle today, but it won't take him much longer to do so.]

Soon it will be September again. Hn, when people started to vanish I thought there would be only a few of us left to see a second autumn in this world.

[Of course, that refers only to those who were the first to arrive to this world. Unfortunately he never doubted that there would still be a lot of people trapped, just... Not the same people for so long.]

Have any of you changed since you arrived here? No matter how long you have been here... Ever wonder what your people would think of you if they saw you here?

No. I know. And...as long as you remember to come back, then I guess it'll be okay.

*She smiles softly and rests her head ever so slightly against his shoulder, blinking up at the sky and trying to ignore all those various horrible thoughts running through her mind*

[He hums as she rests her head against his shoulder, shifting to let his hand fall from her head and wrap around her waist for a more comfortable position and an easier way for her to rest there.]

I would ask you to come, but with what we may be going to fight off to get back the rest I think a visit to Serenes will do you also a lot of good. I'll let you know if I find anything interesting, deal?

Okay, I know. I know that if you don't come back it won't be okay, and that if you do come back then it will be okay.

*Selphie smiles warmly as he moves his hand to her waist, feeling much more comfortable against him this time. She looks at the bottle in her hand, knowing that he probably wouldn't want to do that if he were sober. But she likes it so she really isn't going to complain*

Mmhm. When we get Leanne back, I think it'd be good for her if I was there with her in Serenes too.

*Still not really thinking about the benefits for herself. She nods against his shoulder at that last part and glances up at him*

Okay. That's a deal.

You sure know how to make someone feel important.

[Ikki chuckles at that, a small part of him telling him that she must be well drunk now if she wants to be in that position, but he himself is drunk enough to not care. Besides, if he tried to take away the bottle from her she would do the same with his and he isn't ready to stop yet.]

It will be good for you too, to be there with her and the rest. Think about the benefits for yourself too.

Pfft. Sorry, didn't I do a good enough job of telling you how amazing you are?

*She giggles and shakes her head before taking another sip from her bottle. Then she turns to him again and pulls an amused face*

Yeah, yeah, okay. I'll do what's best for me too, if that'll make you happy or whatever.

Good, because it will make me happy.

[Despite his words back in Serenes he cares about her after all, and doesn't want to see her suffering. At least not while he is in his right mind and not consumed by hate and anger.]

*Selphie blinks at that, a little taken aback to hear that from him. Her surprised expression soon turns into a smile*

Really?

*Then she dips her head bashfully and apologetically, knowing that he means it. She was just caught out, rather than questioning it*

[Ikki isn't surprised by that, in fact he would be surprised if she believed him. It's true, but she has no way to know it. And after what Ikki has done and said in the past he wouldn't fault her for not wanting to have anything to do with him while sober.]

Really. So do your best to take care of yourself as well.

[He leans his head back against the wood, briefly closing his eyes to relax, at least as much as he ever does when outside a volcano.]

Okay. So long as you're taking care of yourself too...

*Selphie watches as he leans his head back, continuing to look at him as he closes his eyes. It felt good to her to see him able to be as relaxed as this, even if it did require a lot of alcohol first. It was nice too, getting to spend time like this with him. It felt like it had been such a long time since they'd enjoyed each other's company so much. While his eyes are closed she doesn't say anything - just sits close and watches him seem peaceful*

Would that make you happy?

[He asks calmly, eyes still closed and if not for the slight drunk slur one could come to think that he is sober. It feels really nice to be able to be like this with her, if he was a lesser man he would consider the idea of getting her drunk more often so she's willing to be like that with him.]

Yes. It would.

*Drunken slur or not, it's not like Selphie's completely sober herself or anything. She watches him a moment more before pressing even closer against him and sighing lightly*

It really, really would...

Hmm, and if I can't? If I can't take care of myself, will you help take care of me?

[He laughs as if he just said a great joke, tilting his head so it touches her's slightly.]

Well, duh! Of course I'd take care of you - in my sweet little maid's outfit too, since that seems to be what you want!

*Selphie laughs along at that too, patting lightly on his knee*

Never said I wanted that. And even if there was no maid outfit, it would still be good.

[He takes a long gulp from his bottle, finishing it and placing it besides him before reaching for another.]

Should I take care of you dressed as a slave if you need it?

No maid outfit? Does that mean no clothes at all or just boring stuff like I'm wearing now?

*Selphie giggles at his question, lifting her hand to touch his hair as she tilts her head, looking at him carefully*

Hmm... I dunno. Maybe instead...a cowboy. You'd look real good in a cowboy hat.

I don't see anything boring here.

[So yeah, he meant the normal stuff.]

Do you like cowboys?

*At that Selphie rearranges the way that she's sitting so that she can stretch her legs out over across his lap - yup, definitely been drinking*

Yeah. I think they're pretty cool. The hat and the guns and the whole lone ranger thing. Don't you think so too?

[The movement makes Ikki open his eyes to look at her in wonder, again a small voice telling him it would be better to just end their time together there. She's too drunk and so he is. But instead he just gives her a curious look before he smiles and relaxes again.]

I suppose they are... Though that doesn't sound like someone who would take care of someone who needs to be taken care of.

Oh...I guess you're right...

*With her slight drunkenness, Selphie thinks about this with an obvious frown, then a dramatic pout, then suddenly looking up at him like she's got a bright idea*

I know! If you were my slave and I told you to be a sweet and caring cowboy - that'd work!

So I dress up as a slave and then dress up as a cowboy? Sounds complicated.

[Especially when drunk.]

Yup! That's it! But right now you don't need to do anything - you look really good just as you are. I mean, not just right now, but actually...all the time. Everytime I see you. You look good. Very.

*She's put her bottle down and is now waving her arms a bit with her drunken ramblings*

Hmm, that's not fair. If you say that first, if I say that you look perfect all the time it won't sound sincere.

[He chuckles, slightly. His drunk mind says that he should have said it before, but even drunk he's not the type to go praising outward appearances.]

*Selphie blushes at that, then laughs lightly, like she's very amused*

'Look perfect all the time'? Are you thinking of someone else? It's me - Selphie!

*And as if to make her point, in case he needs reminding, she lifts her face close to his*

I may be drunk, but I'm not drunk enough to not recognize the one and only Selphie Tilmitt. Remember? Even when you're in another body there's no way I would mistake you, and you would still look perfect...

[But that's just him and how he doesn't just look at her physically, so he leans his head back with a soft smile.]

But it's better when you're in your real body. And wearing short skirts to show your legs, there's no reason for you to hide them.

*Selphie smiles brightly at that, leaning back a bit in her satisfaction that he really did mean what he said. She giggles at the last bit, wriggling her legs which were still draped over his lap*

Ikki, are you flirting with me?

*She says him teasingly, but gives her best charming smile anyway*
