7th rise of the phoenix ஜ Voice / Action for Spades

[His voice is heavy and a bit hoarse but still easy to understand. He has yet to hit the bottle today, but it won't take him much longer to do so.]

Soon it will be September again. Hn, when people started to vanish I thought there would be only a few of us left to see a second autumn in this world.

[Of course, that refers only to those who were the first to arrive to this world. Unfortunately he never doubted that there would still be a lot of people trapped, just... Not the same people for so long.]

Have any of you changed since you arrived here? No matter how long you have been here... Ever wonder what your people would think of you if they saw you here?

Change is inevitable.

[But there's a pause, maybe even a sigh, and then:]

I think the people I knew where I'm from would have a hard time recognizing me.

With the way some people acted when we first arrived here one would think that they didn't think that they could change at all.

[In fact some had even seemed to refuse to change at all, he's not sure how many of those remain around though.]

A hard time... Do you think you changed for better or worse?

Can you blame them? Ripped from our homes and the lives we knew, thrown into roles we never asked for, and that many of us never wanted. The desire to cling to what we were and what we knew was... considerable.

[But that question... In a way, it's easy to answer.]

Both. For the better and worse.

I've been a pirate at one point in my life, so I doubt my fellows would be too surprised. Though I know a few who might go running...

Strange curses aside, this isn't that unpleasant a place for me. Even if I do still strive to return home.

Never blamed them, I could understand it all well. It's just that my own life hasn't been different from this, I learned at a young age that at any moment anyone can become a beggar with no choice to do but what they are forced to.

I suppose that I always forget that not everyone has been subjected to the whims of others since birth.

[And he's hardly the most patient man in the world either way.]

Sounds like a well balanced change to me.

How did it felt to have to go back to be a pirate?

[Life's anything but dull in this place and it makes everything seem to blur together in the past. He can still remember clearly the first time he saw Marco or Ace.]

Wow...that's crazy, huh? It feels like I've barely been here at all. In some ways. In others...it's been a long time. I feel like I'm getting old here.

Yeah, I'm starting to hear an elder woman's voice coming from you at times.

You just got one year older at most, and with the energy you have it will take you at least twenty years to truly get "old".

I did! I'm turned 19 last month - that's nearly old, you know! But... I guess another twenty years wouldn't be so bad!~

Makes me feel young again, to be honest.

I do not think I have changed much since my arrival.

Though... I imagine that if any of my friends back home were to come here they would be surprised to see me alive.

I guess for you September would be something of a one year anniversary of when you arrived. For me it would be eleven months. Time really does fly sometimes when your sailing.

[But had she changed. She actually pauses to think about it. If one notices others changing it would mean they themselves had and she always felt like the people around her had changed. She also knew that maybe she had and that was a good thing.]

I would think most probably. I don't think you could stay here long without changing. But I didn't think about what my friends would thing if they saw me now.

I've changed a great deal, I believe . . . but when you say "a second autumn", do you mean you were here a year ago already?

You don't have to be old to forget things. I'm not that old and there are things that I have trouble remembering from my past.

Then again, maybe it's because of how often people have played with my memories in general.

[At the very least it certainly didn't help.]

Do you even know my age? I doubt you even know when my birthday is.

[After all he has never mentioned it before, especially the birthday part.]

Hn, I'm pretty sure there would be someone out there who would take you even looking like that. There are all kinds of people with weird tastes and definitions of "cute".
