[001 || Written / Voice at the end]

[After the escape from Yuezhong -- for those on the Spade Pirates crew, he's on watch up in the crow's nest. Things seem calm at the moment, though, which means he's a liiiiittle bored, so have some random jotted down thoughts.]

Well, definitely didn't pick a boring crew to join. And here I thought I knew how to stir up trouble quickly. Then again, traveling from world to world before, I learned how to keep a low profile, too.

Guess that's not happening here. Can't complain, though. Things are good.

The sea's really quiet tonight...

Watching the ocean like this feels like I'm back home again.

[You'll hear a faint splash suddenly, and there's a pause before the writing starts up again, this time accompanied by Riku's muttered voice:]

.......Except we didn't have fish that big. Or—what is that? Is that a whale??

[Nods.] It's kind of cool just watching it...

[He thinks about her question, head tipping to the side a bit as he crosses his arms.]

Freaked out? No. It took some getting used to and...okay, maybe sometimes it's still a little strange. But. [He gives her a small smile.] I just keep reminding myself you're your own person.

*His reply makes Selphie giggle, though she does pull a face*

My own person? Well, I don't think I belong to anyone else!

*Careful not to drop it, she lifts one side of the blanket from her shoulder and offers it towards him*

Then if you won't be too weirded out, you can share my blanket if you like.

[Sliiight eyeroll, though he's still smiling, and his cheeks warm a bit.]

I meant, you're not her. Even though...you are. But you're different. Separate.

[Eyes the offered blanket for a moment, then shrugs and inches over toward her.]

Alright, sure. Thanks.

*Selphie tilts her head at him then, closing her eyes as she giggles gently. When she finally looks at him again it's with a curious, questioning look*

Alright. Would you rather think of me as her but not her, or someone completely different? I can do whatever makes you feel least weird.

*Lifting her blanket, Selphie manages to just about manage to slip some over his shoulder*

It gets pretty cold out here at night.

[Shakes his head.]

No, Selphie...it's nothing you need to do. Don't—it's me. And it's really not even an issue. [Pause.] You're someone completely different. [Firm nod.] That's what I'm going with.

[Reaches up to tug the corner of the blanket down a little more.]

Yeah, I'm from a tropical island. Sometimes cold temperatures still throw me off.

*At first, Selphie looks a little crestfallen - she still hates the fact that she seemingly has forgotten these people... That isn't fair. But suddenly her shoulders start to shake and she lets out a loud laugh*

Geez, Riku, you don't haveta make it sound like you're breaking up with me!

*Well, it's always easier to look at things in a way that makes you laugh, rather than a way that might make you cry*

[Oh lord, wasn't expecting that, Riku's eyes just kinda widen and he shifts awkwardly.]

Ah...sorry, I didn't mean to. That's not—wow. Sorry!

[B'aww. He didn't mean to make her sad, though! ;_;]

*Aww Riku, just so adorable! Selphie can't even pretend to be mad right now. She just giggles loudly and pokes out her tongue, winking quickly at him*

Tee hee! That's okay. I guess I can forgive you... This time!

*Well that's no problem because she's expert at hiding her sad*

[Yep, still impersonating a deer in headlights.]

Okay... That's good.

[Clears his throat and looks away.]

So, uh. What's it like where you're from? That you can remember, I guess.

*Sorry about that, Riku! Selphie has noticed, and she'll be sure to go easy on him. No sense in making one of her new friends uncomfortable*

You mean, where the me me is from? Well.. I don't really know for sure. But before I got to this place, I lived in Balamb, by the sea. It was really pretty there. Quiet too. Apart from Garden, I mean.

[lol S'ALL GOOD, he's just pathetic.

He smiles lightly.]

By the sea, huh. Guess much didn't change there. Why was the Garden different?

*Aww but so so adorable Riku!*

Well, cause it was so busy with training and the parties and the war and stuff, ya know? Filled with fighters! It was fun.

*She pauses for a moment, letting out the tiniest of sighs*

I miss it. But this is nice too.

[Nods in understanding.]

I know how you feel. I'm kind of used to world hopping so being here isn't too bad, but...I wish I could've been home for longer.

*Selphie studies his profile for a moment, even if it is pretty dark out here*

But, you have friends from home here with you, at least. That must be nice.

Well, one friend, but yeah. As long as he's here, I'll be fine.

[Slight grin.]

It's just... I hadn't been home in—awhile. And then almost barely had any time there before we ended up here. But. [Shrugs.] I guess I'm not any different from anyone else who'd like to get back home, right?

I'd say you're pretty lucky. I don't have anyone here from home..

*She turns to him quickly, in case he's offended by that*

I mean, there's you and Sora, but that's kinda different...

*Shaking her head, she pulls the blanket tighter around them*

No. We're all in the same boat.

*Then she realises her pun and bursts into laughter*

[Gives her a reassuring smile.]

Definitely different, don't worry about it.

[He snorts at the same moment she realizes her pun, and then chuckles with her after she bursts out laughing.]

Heh, it's true, though! Which I guess is what makes all of this easier.

Alright! If you say so! But I got you, and the rest of the crew are really nice. I got a place to sleep too, so I guess I can't complain!

*Selphie smiles brightly at the sound of his laughter ~ really, Riku, she thinks you're all kinds of cute*

Mmhmm! We can all get each other through it, and at least it means we can have some fun along the way!

Yeah, our crew is definitely...full of character. I doubt there's ever going to be a dull moment on this ship.

[Still grinning, but he's watching the ocean so he misses Selphie's bright smile. He can hear it in her voice, though, and her cheerfulness is contagious.]

Looks like we can all handle ourselves, too. I heard you got involved in that fight on the island!

Ha! You can say that again! One of the weirdest bunches of people I've ever seen together!

*Aww, that's a shame. It was a real winning smile. But the horizon looks better*

Mmhmm. I don't even know how that happened. But yeah, we made it through!

[lol IF HE SEES IT, he'll get awkward again!]

DO you have a weapon, or...? The Selphie from our home, she, uh. Used to whack me with a jump rope. [Huffs.] That thing could actually hurt, though.

*Don't get awkward, cause that would be too cute!*

Uh huh! I sure do.

*Jump rope? That sure makes Selphie laugh*

Well, I still use that. Only the rope is a chain, with big hard blocks on the end. This thing hurts a load more than jump ropes, trust me!

[Blinks.]

Wow, yeah. I bet! Geez, now I know what the jump rope is leading up to. She'll be a little terror.

...I mean. [Gives Selphie a sheepish look.] Sorry—but really, I'd like to see what you can do! If you don't mind showing me. Maybe we could spar sometime?

*Selphie turns to him quickly at that comment, raising a brow, suggesting that she feels that he's quite right to look so sheepish*

Riiight. Sure, I can show you sometime. But you should watch out, cause I can be a little terror...

[Winces a bit.]

I really didn't mean that in a bad way—promise! [Stillll looking sheepish, and he rubs at the back of his neck.] She'll be fierce, I guess. Tough. Like you are.
