Since yesterday was Mother's Day, I've been wondering how many of you are mothers? All family is important. At least, I think so. But mothers...
[Considering she has lost her mother, Haruhi feels a lot of things about the day.]
It's special, isn't it? Not that being a father is easy. [She knows that from watching her Dad struggle all of these years.] But it's not Father's Day.
So...
Tell me about your mothers. And if you are a mother, I hope you're close to your children. Nothing can replace that bond.
[Uh oh, getting too serious again.]
Anyway, I know it's a little late, but let's celebrate.

I would support you all I could.
[He poses a good question and she thinks about it before answering.]
It would depend on his reasoning. I agree that theft is a crime, but sometimes the punishments for it are too harsh. If he thought he was helping - or protecting - someone or something then he should be shown leniency.

[He's pretty sure she wouldn't want to represent Captain Law... but she wont name him here. He'd never get caught anyhow. He was too good for that!]
It sounds like you'd have to take a lot of time into deciding on the person or not. Like judging them to see if they were honest or worthy? If you believe in them then, you'd represent them?
[written]
Talking to the person and getting to know them is all that it takes. I'd talk to their friends and family too. But yes, if I believed in them, I would represent them.

You'll make a good lawyer then. Where I'm from Lawyers aren't that good or thoughtful. judging tends to be done by the Marines anyhow. Nothing is fair. I think you'd be fair.
[written]
To be fair is what every lawyer should strive for. Those that don't, well, they might be rich, but does money really make up for lying?
I don't think it does.
[written]
Money makes things easier, but harder too, if you're not honest. Honesty can be hard to find on the seas sometimes.
[written]
Dad said I was honest even as a child. I don't think I would be a good liar.

[Oh, and then another entry to follow, more calmly]
It's good to be able to lie sometimes. It can save your life, but honest people are the best.

[She's an excellent student when it comes to academics, at least.]
That's true, but I wouldn't want to put myself in a position like that.

[he liked your crew too, so he wouldn't mind, though he wonders if they would...]
Hopefully you wont ever have to.
