Since yesterday was Mother's Day, I've been wondering how many of you are mothers? All family is important. At least, I think so. But mothers...

[Considering she has lost her mother, Haruhi feels a lot of things about the day.]

It's special, isn't it? Not that being a father is easy. [She knows that from watching her Dad struggle all of these years.] But it's not Father's Day.

So...

Tell me about your mothers. And if you are a mother, I hope you're close to your children. Nothing can replace that bond.

Anyway, I know it's a little late, but let's celebrate.

Well, my mom was a wolf!

Yeah! She wasn't my real mom, of course. I'm 100% human after all!

But she basically raised me, so I consider her my mother more than my actual one.

That... that's amazing! I've never heard of that happening before.

What was she like? She must have been very intelligent.

She was! All wolves are pretty smart, really, but she was the best! She taught me how to survive in the forest and all kinds of useful stuff. I even learned how to talk to animals.

I really miss her sometimes.

She must have been really beautiful. [Inside and out. Haruhi can't help but wonder about her.] Some animals have a natural mother instinct, I guess.

Yeah, she was the prettiest wolf I've ever seen!

Hm, yeah, I guess! This kinda stuff happens a lot with other animals! Sometimes they'll even raise animals they'd usually hunt. I don't really get why, but it's pretty neat!

Animals are amazing. [She hasn't ever really had a pet, but sometimes she wanted one.] I don't know much about wolves. Everyone talks about how intelligent they are, though.

They're pretty ferocious when threatened, but they can be really gentle and friendly too. They don't usually trust humans though, so not everyone gets to see that side.

Sometimes I think I prefer animals to humans, but I dunno, really!
