[he gave a sort of fake chuckle] I was never, uh...popular with women of any species. Although Aquarians didn't hunt me as actively as humans, they didn't accept me either. A hybrid like me with human blood is an abomination generally speaking. There was...one girl... But, despite how close we were, I never actually kissed anything more than her hand.

[a pretty depressed expression came over his face like a dark cloud. He wasn't sure he was ready to talk about this, but... It had been a year since he last saw that woman so he supposed if he couldn't talk about it now maybe he never would.]

I managed to do that much without my teeth hurting her, heh. [he pathetically tried to make light of it] and to answer your question no, Aquarians don't have very sharp teeth. Maybe small fangs in some species, but not as shark like as mine

*Faye lingered by the door, head tilted as she looked at him from across the room. Sure, he was different, but for all Faye knew he was a sweet enough guy. And he was plenty attractive to look at, all things considered at least*

You're telling me you've never been kissed? You've never properly, really kissed a girl?

[he gave a long sigh. He was obviously reluctant to admit it] no. Came close, but no. [he looked down, staring intently at the floor]

*Faye bit her lip as she watched him - she hadn't meant to upset him, but looked like she had somehow anyway. She moved back to the bed, sitting down close beside him and resting a hand on his shoulder*

Hey. That's totally okay. You'll find someone no problem.

Well... I don't know. Even if by some miracle I found someone l liked who'd take me, I don't know how easy it would be for me to really trust her. [he paused for a few moments, willing himself to keep talking] that 'friend' I mentioned who betrayed me? She was an Aquarian woman. I loved her... I had thought she loved me too. But yeah. Obviously wrong. I was stupid.

*Part of Faye wants to tell him that he doesn't need to have trust with a girl to kiss her, but he looks so dejected that she's sure he's thinking of kissing as something much more special. But then, he'd never had a kiss at all*

Don't blame yourself. Women can be real bitches. Men too for that matter, but I speak better for women... Still, I'm sorry. That's really shitty when that happens. Same thing happened to me, you know.

[he did think of them as something special, and Intimacy too. Not from experience obviously, but from the things the old woman had taught him. She had been old fashioned, of course]

Yeah, it sucked. We had been through so much together and she seemed so comfortable around me. [he sighed] I couldn't compete with the guy she left me for, though. [he glanced at Faye from under his bangs] it happened to you too? I'm sorry to hear that...

Me? Let's just say he took advantage of me when I was really...stuck. Thought it was love too. But he died, left me with all his debt... Few years later I found out he'd faked his death so that he could dump me with it. So yeah... Been there. Done that.

*Then it was her turn to sigh*

... He even left you with all his debt?! Wow, what a low life...it must be kinda hard for you to trust someone too after that, huh? People suck... [he glanced at her again] well, not *all* people

In the end I caught him again and traded him in for his bounty. He'd grown fat and stupid. He said he loved me but - ha! What a jerk.

Yeah, trusting people isn't something I do.

*When he turned to her, Faye smiled and placed a hand on his arm*

You're too cute not to find someone, really.

Oh, at least you got him in the end. That's at least something good about a crappy situation.

[when she put a hand on his arm and said he'd find someone, he gave a sad smile and patted her hand once]

Thanks. That's a nice thing to say [although he didn't really sounded like he agreed with it. The next thing he said sounded genuine though]

I hope someday you'll be able to trust again.

Yeah, well..

*Faye shrugged at his comment - it had made her feel a little better getting some money back from him*

Maybe.

*But that was all she said as she just continued to look at her nails, then her feet*

[although he wasn't normally comfortable with doing such a thing, he gave her shoulder a brief pat hoping it would help her feel a little better]

[well, seeing as how the heavy subject had weighed them down a little, Thash tried to think of something to lighten the mood] so, uh...you were going to teach me poker?

*She didn't say anything when she felt his hand on her shoulder, but she did seem to relax a little bit*

Right. Sure.

*Faye got up on her feet then grabbed a pack of cards from inside a drawer*

Okay. Let's start with blackjack, it's much easier.

Alright, im listening. [ he'd never really played card games before, but had observed humans doing it before and figured it couldn't be too hard]

*She gets up and sits down on the floor, since there's much more space, and she motions for him to sit down opposite her. Then she explains through the rules in a very professional like manner, like someone who's done this for a living. All her movements with the cards - shuffling, cutting, dealing - are slick ans stylish*

Okay. Ready for round one?

[he listened quietly to the rules, and she explained them so well he didn't really have any questions. Then he watched her work with the cards, thinking it was interesting how she moved. When she asked if he was ready, he nodded] yeah, doesn't sound too hard.

*Since Thash didn't really know what he was doing, she would go easy on him. At least, she wouldn't be using any of her cheating tricks*

Alright. So...

*She glanced around the room, looking for something to use as chips. Reaching just behind him, she grabbed a handful of earrings*

If you think you're gonna hit twenty one, you raise your stakes. That is, the money you'd in theory be willing to gamble.

Okay. [he looked down at the earrings] and were pretending those are money? [ofcourse he didn't know what initial cards had a higher or lower chance of giving him 21, but he figured he'd learn that as they went along. If he figured at least that if he got cards that were very close to 21 but not over, there wasn't a very good chance of getting 21 without going over with the next card]

In a way. In games you usually get things called chips that stand for a value of money. Otherwise there would be piles of cash being pushed back and forth.

*Faye would really have to take him if they ever got to an island with a casino*

Alright. You want to place a higher bet, or stick and show me what you've got?

Hmm. I guess I'll go for a higher bet. [his cards totaled 12 at the moment so he figured there was a reasonable chance his next card would be 9 or lower. He was sitting in the ground cross-legged and his tail sort of drifted back and forth slowly]

*Out in the open his tail was no problem, but in here it was pretty cramped and she did worry a little that he might hurt himself*

Okay, and next card...

*She slips it across the floor to him with a wink for good luck (ooc: and you can choose whichever card you like!)*

[it was moving slowly and lazily, so she wouldn't have to be too concerned. Thash reached out for the card, (Ooc: went to random.org's playing card shuffler :3) and looked at it]

Ah, drat! [obviously he busted. He didn't exactly have a poker face about it]

*Faye chuckled at his reaction, slowly shaking her head*

That's gambling for you.

*She leanes over from where she was sitting cross legged on the floor, and first took his cards, then pulled his bundle of earrings towards her*

And I get all your money. This is the part where, if we were in a casino, you'd get slapped by your girlfriend for losing. Or else try to flirt to get your money back - but that part never works for me. Wanna try again?

[he laughed a bit at her explanation of what would happen next] I hope you're joking. Is some peoples relationships with their girlfriends really based on money? But sure, let's try again.
