[he'd been worried that he would bust, but after she handed him the card it was evident he didn't] okay, all in.

*She pushes her earring pile into the space between them and smirks*

So show me what you got.

[he pushed what he had left to the center as well, smirking back. He then showed her his cards- a King, a four, and a six. He figured that had to be pretty decent] how's that?

*Faye casually turned her cards over then slumped her shoulders a little as she looked at her cards next to his*

So I got eighteen. Guess that means you've won.

*She lifted her eyes to him, keeping her expression clear while she waits to see what his reaction might be at winning*

Oh, I did... alright! [He gave a smile and his tail moved, but instead of moving side to side like normal it sort of flicked forward just once. It didn't hit anything, luckily]

So is there any kind of strategy you can use in this game is it all just kinda up to luck?

*Faye smiled back, because he did seem at least pleased to have won*

It's luck. Luck and judgement.

*And a few other tricks she had up her sleeve, but she wouldn't let on to that just yet!*

Thanks... [He grinned and handed the cards back to her, then sat looking at her with his tail moving lazily back and forth] So what do you want to do now?

*She took the cards and began shuffling them comfortably in her hands*

Well, you've won all the earrings so I guess you do what you like with them.

*She smirks though because she knows that wasn't really what he meant*

I could explain poker rules, in case we ever find ourselves with a big enough group to play it?

[He joked back a little] They're pretty, but not quite my style. [He pushed them back over to her. His ears, arm fins, and tail were pierced but only with simple steel rings or bars. He nodded at her offer to go over the rules of poker] Yeah, I'd like to know how to play that. I've seen humans play cards in large groups a few times before... is that usually what they're playing?

*She picked up the earrings and put them aside the crossed to sit beside Thash on the floor. She started laying out cards in various combinations, nodding at his question*

There's a lot of games out there, but poker's most popular I'd say. Especially in groups of greedy men.

Gotcha... [He wasn't too surprise fot hear that. It seemed a lot of people liked the idea of a game where you could get a lot of money without earning it, even though it was far more likely that you'd lose whateve rmoney you did earn. He looked at the combinations as she layed them out]

Alright, so. Poker can be played a few different ways, but I'll explain the most popular. The aim is to get the best hand of cards, worth the most points. Similar to blackjack, in a way, but with more cards and more combinations. *Sitting close, Faye continued to explain the rules, then talked him through the various winning card combos in front of her. When she talked cards, she seemed to take on a much morevserious and professional air that she didn't usually have* And... I suppose that's it. Make sense?

[he seemed a little more comfortable with her sitting close than was last time. He listened intently, definitely seeing that professional dealer side of her. Once again, her explanation was so good there was little question in his mind of how to play. It was a bit busier than blackjack, but he figured he'd get the hang of it pretty quickly once they got the opportunity to play] cool, thanks. I'll try to remember it all...

Do sharks have good memories?

*She's doesn't doubt him, she just happens to know that fish don't. Or, at least, people say that they don't. Faye ran a hand through her hair to see if it had dried much*

Hopefully we'll be able to get a game of poker together soon. You'll have fun with it, I bet.

Sharks probably don't have very good memories... aquarians have excellent memories though, so hopefully it'll balance out, heheh.

[He nodded when she said hopefully they could get a game together] Yeah... if not with this crew, then I bet there's some other ones out there we could play with. Of course, for the short time I've been with this crew, our record at getting along with other crews isn't very good... I did meet this cool sharklike guy from the Spade Pirates, though. And I think our captain gets along with theirs since she was invited to some sort of Navy party by him... were you around for that?

The Spades, hmm?

*Faye smirked at that as she started picking up the cards and putting them into a pile*

They're a crew that knows how to enjoy themselves properly. And I'm sure Grell does have a few...friends. So I bet some games with the Spades could work.

*She nodded as he mentioned the Navy party, turning towards him slowly*

The ball. It was an interesting event. And I looked quite stunning, if I say so myself.

True, it probably woudln't take much convincing for the Captain to arrange a meeting with them.

[He listened to her talk about the ball, looking a little bummed he hadn't seen what she dressed like for it]

Oh, a ball? So a really fancy party. Too bad I coudln't have come and seen you... someone that looks like me can't exactly go to things like that. Besides, I hate crowds... I met the shark guy, Namur, at a much smaller gathering for non-humans.

[He chuckled a bit, remembering what happened afterwards]

When I left the ship for that, I didn't realize it was leaving. I came back and it was gone... I had to ask Strider where the ship was sailing and swim after it. It took quite a while to swim from that island to Phantasia islands... but it's good exercise to swim long distances sometimes, I guess. I'd do it about once a month at home.

No, I don't think that it would. And if they have their own shark guy then I'm sure they wouldn't mind having you on board to join in.

*Faye tilted her head and eyed him over, then tilted her head the other way and eyed him again, narrowing her eyes gently*

I don't know. I'm sure we could do something to get you into a party like that. Otherwise, we'll have to host our own. Then you'd get to see me. Besides, I think you'd look good in a suit.

*She wasn't sure how a shirt would fit on him with his fin and all, but she was pretty sure that if he could get something to wear, it would look good. Different from having his chest and abs constantly exposed, she supposed*

Did you have such a good time at your non-human party that you weren't paying attention? Too busy chatting to all the pretty non-human ladies?

In the past, if I've had to be among humans without revealing what I was, I'd get a heavy cloak with a good to wear... But even that's a pain because I have to keep my tail tucked in close and wear a lopsided backpack or something to hide my fin...

[he didn't look so sure about the suit part] I'd hate wearing a suit... Too much fabric. I wouldn't even wear pants if it wasn't weird to just walk around in shorts.. [yeah Thash, as if walking around in pants without any shirt isn't still weird]

[he chuckled a bit and shook his head when she asked about him talking to non-human ladies] I wish, but no, I didn't socialize much. Namur's the only guy I spoke to.

What if you didn't have to hide who you were? Cut a space in a shirt for your fin? It's nice to see a handsome gent in a nicely cut suit.

*She chuckled a little and looked down at his legs with a raised brow*

Are your legs... are they like human legs? Or...?

*After all, there could just be big long fins under there, but he'd seemed pretty stable*

You'd rather roam around naked if you could, hmm?

Shame you weren't socialising. You could have made some friends.

I guess I could do that... [Afterall his pants were like those made for humans... he just cut a hole where his tail came through] Oh, my legs? They're mostly human... [He stood up to show her. Without warning, he undid his belt and dropped his pants. Luckily though, he was wearing some black, slick swimming shorts underneath]

[She'd see his legs- like he said, they were mostly human shaped but of course with shark skin. Also, he had a couple of small triangular fins on the outsides of his shins]

If I could roam around naked, at least it would be easier to jump in the water and not worry about clothes. Some species of aquarians have nothing to hide and can go naked if they prefer... I'm not like them, though.

[He shrugged about the socializing] I wasn't feeling very social at the time. [He usually didn't feel very social, but was starting to feel a little more comfortable with it thanks to Faye]

*Faye had sat back a moment when he stood up and started undoing his belt - it was quite a brazen move for someone who had seemed so shy, and she was concerned for a moment of what exactly he was about to show her! But her eyes were on his legs at least, nodding in agreement of how relatively human they were*

Nothing to hide? These aquarians don't have - *She paused, glancing up at Thash and not really sure of exactly what language to use that he would understand* - you mean, they're missing somewhat more...seemingly human...anatomy?

*Mostly, Faye was concerned about how he'd react if she'd just blurted out - you mean aquarians don't have dicks?!*

That's fair enough. I'd be a hypocrit if I told you to go out there and surround yourself with friends. Though I've heard that's a nice thing to do.

[Thash tilted his head, trying to think of how to describe it] Well, for all species of aquarians, their anatomy down there is a little different from humans. They're more like, uh...do you know what claspers are on sharks? They're kinda like that. For the types of aquarians with legs, they have to wear some kind of clothes on their bottom halfs. But for types of aquarians with only fins below their waist, their reproductive parts are kept inside their bodies until they're ready to use them... or so I've been told, anyway.

[He started putting his pants back on] As for me, I guess I must have gotten that part of myself from humans, because it's pretty different from claspers...[Here's where he got a little shy, not going into any more detail than that]

[As for the friends thing, Thash shook his head a bit] I don't make friends very easily, I guess. There's still members of this crew I haven't spoken to even once. I guess I should fix that... old habits die hard, but at least I know from meeting you that I don't have to expect the worst all the time. [He gave her a small smile after he finished fastening his belt]

*Probably reasonably insensitive, but Faye can't help but pull a face as he describes various genitalia. She just didn't like the sound of any of that, and didn't especially like picturing it either. She did raise a brow and smirk when he mentioned about his own, more human anatomy, watching as he put his pants back on*

Good job you were wearing those shorts then, or you might have someone's eye out.

*Then she reached back over to grab a pack of cigarettes and her matches before sitting back down on the floor* Some people here I haven't spoken to either. Haven't had the need to. No point getting into conversations all for nothing.

*She smiled back at him and gave a short laugh, lighting up a cigarette*

And what if I'm the best the ship has to offer?

[he gave a sort of nervous chuckle at her eye comment...sort of embarrassed but sort of amused too] wouldn't want that...

And yeah, that's exactly why I haven't spoken to most of them. No need, and I've never really come close enough to them that it's awkward not to talk. Heh...maybe you are the best the ship has to offer as far as company...even strider, the guy responsible for me being here, doesn't seem to talk much sometimes.
