A whole ocean...and not a single cruiseliner with a casino.
What in the hell does anyone do for fun around here? There are people round here that know how to play poker, right?
...
I'm going for another nap. Someone wake me up when something interesting happens.

Alright. So...
*She glanced around the room, looking for something to use as chips. Reaching just behind him, she grabbed a handful of earrings*
If you think you're gonna hit twenty one, you raise your stakes. That is, the money you'd in theory be willing to gamble.

*Faye would really have to take him if they ever got to an island with a casino*
Alright. You want to place a higher bet, or stick and show me what you've got?

Okay, and next card...
*She slips it across the floor to him with a wink for good luck (ooc: and you can choose whichever card you like!)*
And let me know what you think. Hope it's lucky!

Ah, drat! [obviously he busted. He didn't exactly have a poker face about it]
no subject
That's gambling for you.
*She leanes over from where she was sitting cross legged on the floor, and first took his cards, then pulled his bundle of earrings towards her*
And I get all your money. This is the part where, if we were in a casino, you'd get slapped by your girlfriend for losing. Or else try to flirt to get your money back - but that part never works for me. Wanna try again?

*Sitting back, she smiles and deals out the cards, watching him and waiting to see if he'll decide for himself about his cards this time*

Aren't so many relationships out there that aren't shallow.
*Grinning, she places done a few more earrings*
Okay. So I raise my bets. You going to raise yours too, or let me win?

Okay, so what have you got? Twenty one? Nearly?

[he sighed a bit] don't get me wrong, the physical part of a relationship sounds great. But... [he was worried about revealing his sensitive side by saying things like this, but hey...he already considered Faye a friend and thought he could probably trust her not to go around telling other people about this. He wasn't really sure why he felt that way, he just did] well, it's the emotional part I really look forward to and think of as the best part of a relationship. It'd be nice to be that close to someone, you know? To really feel like you're a part of each other... To be loyal and care deeply...
[at least that's what he'd dreamed of as a boy when the old lady had spoken to him of relationships. It almost seemed silly and unrealistic now by what Faye told him] feh, sorry, I'm being all soft again...I have 19. [he showed his cards, a 9 and a king]

*And actually, she seemed pretty seriously about that. Faye sat back a little as she listened to Thash talk about relationships, and she smiled again slowly*
That's real sweet, sharky boy.
*She chuckled when he said he was being soft - he sure was - but she grinned all the same*
I don't know that that exists. Not for me. That emotion stuff, the best part and the worst part.
*Faye shrugged, so cynical about all of this, then revealed her ace and her king*

Then Zace is a bitch. Especially if she wouldn't even let you kiss her. If she was scared, she should have just said.
*Faye tilted her head at his doubts, and raised a brow*
Yeah? Well, at least there's always the physical part.
*She gave a dramatic wink before grinning again at her own success*
I don't enjoy losing.

[when she mentioned the physical part and winked, Thash's eyebrows knotted together and he frowned a bit. He didn't particularly like the idea of the physical without the emotional. For someone like him, whose close contact with others had nearly always been fighting, he didn't think he could let someone get that close without trusting them. The old lady had also cautioned him about misery and pain that could come with accidentally falling in love with someone trough physical contact when there was no loyalty and trust there. He didn't do everything she'd taught him, but that part in particular had seemed important]
You seem like you've been playing games like this a long time.

*Faye looked a little taken aback when her wink got a frown this time, and not the usual cute reaction. He seemed lost in his thoughts for a moment, and Faye just allowed him to be*
Yeah. I used to make a living this way, I guess.

*She glances at his dwindling pile of earrings and tilts her head*
Hmm... let's see you can win one this time. Then I'll explain poker. It's a little hard to play with just two people though.

*Faye sat back when she placed the cards in front of him, looking at him levelly*
So, what do you want to do with your cards?

I'll take another card
