[Written]
[It's late at night when the journal entry appears.]
Evening.
I suppose I am writing in this thing because I can't sleep. I haven't really figured out what to do about that. Any suggestions would be helpful.
[There's a pause, before he adds more.]
Is anyone else up at this hour? What are you doing with your time?
[Another pause, longer than the last.]
If anyone would like to talk right now, that would be fine.

Tea kind of helps. At least, while it's cold out. But I guess I'm not a very good example--otherwise I'd be asleep right now, right?
[She chuckles--then there's a pause as she takes a sip of the aforementioned beverage, as if to make her point.]
What's on your mind?
[voice]
[He doesn't mind changing to voice at all, but he's not entirely sure who this person is. It doesn't surprise him, he's been pretty insular with his crew.]
Too much, I have too much on my mind and it's keeping me from sleep, I think.

[voice]
[Not that Codi can't shut off her own brain--just that she has someone else as loud as she is occupying the same space. Getting both of them to shut up is kind of tedious.]
[But Codi doubts her new friend here is suffering from similar problems.]
...I mean literally, tell me about it. What was going on in September?
[voice]
[voice]
[Undead stalker--that's a new one. Codi decides to take his word for it.]
Did she show up here with you?
[voice]
[He shivers. He can still hear her voice. 'Yuuki-kun~'.]
It was creepy and difficult to sleep, so I stayed at my friend's house for the night. She didn't like that, so she killed him.
[voice]
Wow, uh...that's...awful! I'm sorry. [Awkward.] Well...at least she isn't here, right? So you don't have to worry about that anymore!
[voice]
I apologize. I should have filtered my words better, but thank you all the same. I'm not worried about her any longer, it's just I'm getting about as little sleep as I did then.
[voice]
That's fine. [A beat.] ...But if you're as anxious as when a murderous stalker was watching you while you slept, there's seriously something wrong here. Are you sure it's just an overactive mind?
[voice]
[He probably can't be considered sane, he realizes. Not after everything that happened.]
I'm not really anxious. I'm upset about something stupid and unrelated and when I lie here all night, all I can think about is everything that happened before I came here, on top of the current problem.
[voice]
And what's the other thing?
[voice]
Just some heartache. I was involved with someone who decided that someone else may be better for them. I did warn you it was stupid.
[voice]
[Granted, Codi's never really been in that kind of position; she can talk about how much she misses her husband all she wants, but ultimately she'll be too distracted with present excitement to worry too much. Still, she's had enough of these talks to understand where he's coming from.]
Was it messy? The breakup, I mean--never fun when it is.
[voice]
[He pauses to consider it.]
Because of the candy he had kissed someone else, only it wasn't just the candy, and he came to confess to me. He told me everything, and talked about this other person and I just...[He takes a deep breath.]
What could I say?
[voice]
Are you sure the candy wasn't just...clouding his judgement a little bit? You know--making him a bit too caught up in the moment?
[voice]
[He exhales and the hammock creaks a bit as he shifts to a more comfortable position.]
He seemed surprised that I was upset about it. I didn't realize it was...well. I have horrible luck.
[voice]
I see. [Sip. She has to think about this one.] At least he told you, before things got too messy. If it turns out that he goes for his friend, then you'll know--and you can move on.
[voice]
[voice]
It's very important nonsense, though--I mean, enough that it's keeping you up at night. [Siiiip.] Maybe you need the space as much as he does. It sounds like he's not the only one who needs to get his thoughts in order, huh?
[voice]
[voice]
Really? That's not what you said five minutes ago, honey. I believe your exact words were--
[Pause as she flips the page over to read his response.]
--"I feel guilty for pushing his memory aside." That sounds like something to think about, doesn't it?
[voice]
[voice]
[There's the faint sound of burbling water--Codi's pouring more into the kettle to boil]
No matter how many times you tell yourself that you understand what's going on, you won't sleep any better for it.
