[It's late at night when the journal entry appears.]

Evening.

I suppose I am writing in this thing because I can't sleep. I haven't really figured out what to do about that. Any suggestions would be helpful.

[There's a pause, before he adds more.]

Is anyone else up at this hour? What are you doing with your time?

[Another pause, longer than the last.]

If anyone would like to talk right now, that would be fine.

And totally unsure of whether or not he should say anything.

He just stares at the entry for a long time before finally giving a mental screw it and writing down something stupid and simple.]

[Well, isn't that his luck sometimes.]

[Pauses there for a moment, pencil tapping against the journal.]

It's been quiet lately.

Pretty quiet, yeah.

[He sighs.]

So. Why can't you sleep?

I don't know, this and that.

[Screw writing, he's busy at the moment so he just uses the audio option to answer, as he does the sounds of something frying on a frying pan can be heard faintly in the background.]

Cooking.

[That's regarding what he's doing with his time right now.]

Tried to count sheep yet?

[He sounds mildly amused.]

The chef know you're in there?

[He snorts a little bit, responding with a sarcastic drawl.]

Yeah, I'm at six thousand, nine hundred and thirty-six.

As far as I know, no.

[Then again, Ikki is still refusing to eat anything not prepared by himself, so maybe even if he knew he wouldn't say anything. Or maybe he would confront him as to why he's refusing to eat normally and just does so late at night while everyone, or mostly everyone, is sleeping.]

Have you tried to knock yourself out?

[It's a valid question even if it's clearly sarcastic.]

He seems awfully particular about the kitchen.

[He sighs a little.]

I don't think that would help me get any rest though. Some time unconscious, sure. Not that restful.

[Really, Riku? He doesn't really have anything else to do though.]

I dunno. When's the last time you practiced with your sword?

Every morning, except for the last week or so. I took a break.

[This seems like a bad idea, at least for him. Riku seems fine with it so after a moment he finally answers.]

We'd have to be quiet, though.

[Since...it's the middle of the night. Hmm.]

Maybe sparring isn't such a good idea then. It tends to be noisy.

[He comes up from below onto the deck of the Sun though, sitting on the railing and looking out over the sea, if Riku can see him.]

[He's already out there, sitting on the railing of the Moon. He looks up when he sees movement on the other ship, though he doesn't really do anything to let Natsuno know he's there.]

I guess there's not really much to do in the middle of the night, huh?

Not really. Being up alone all night is a very lonely thing.

[Finally he puts his journal away in his pocket and lies on the railing instead, one leg draped over the side. If he falls, well he can swim so it isn't a problem.]

[Watching him and he frowns, because now he can't keep writing to him. After a moment, he sighs and tucks his own journal away. Then he whistles softly to try to get Natsuno's attention.]

[He just isn't sure what else he can say to Riku. The whistle does make him turn his head and look across the way at the Moon.]

[Yeah, Codi's never been one for sitting down to write what's on her mind--not even when everyone else on her ship is trying to sleep.]

Tea kind of helps. At least, while it's cold out. But I guess I'm not a very good example--otherwise I'd be asleep right now, right?

[She chuckles--then there's a pause as she takes a sip of the aforementioned beverage, as if to make her point.]
