001 Written Hello

 I've found out this book is connected to all kinds of people, and it's not private to me.

So I should say 'hi' then. My name is Roxas. My best friend is Axel Lea and he's here with me. 

What kind of people are out there? Who are you? Do you like sea salt ice cream?

I don't know. What are souls or aura?

All I know is that when I appeared about a year ago, I was empty. I have no memories from being Sora. Axel remembered being Lea, but I remember nothing about Sora. Except what I saw in a few dreams.

[ Things without souls are what they call Grimm in her world, but she knows that can't be exactly right. After all, this person is shaped like a human and can talk. ]

An aura is an extension of a soul. It's used to protect those who know how to use it from harm. If I get scratched, it'll heal automatically using my aura. There's a limit to how much of my aura I can use at once before it breaks and I can end up getting killed in a fight, but I've never gotten that far down. Well, almost never.

[ The scar over her eye would be her one exception. ]

It can be used as a weapon too, depending on how good you get at using it, but it does depend on how strong your soul is. A soul is essentially who you are, the choices you make, your emotions, your spirit, and your strength of heart; all of those combine together to make a soul. The only ones without souls are monsters called the Grimm, but I've never seen one who looks like a human being before.

I don't think I have aura. Maybe no soul either because I don't have a heart. I should have those things, but Namine says I'm just a part of Sora.

Maybe you're both different parts of his soul? If the soul can be used as Aura to project attacks, other worlds might have different situations where it can be used for.. well, other things.

I don't really understand things like that. I know that without me, Sora can't wake up.

[whiteas]

Except he already is, here. Right?

Yeah, he's from the future!

[whiteas]

People can be from different times here too?

Seems like that, yeah.

[whiteas]

Wouldn't that completely offset any future you had into something else just by knowing?

[There's a bit more of a pause before he writes back.]

No, because when I go back, I disappear.

See, this is what I meant by that ruby being horrible!

[ Okay, it's a bit of a subject change, but it feeds into her theory okay!! ]

If someone gets that ruby, they can't wish for everyone to go home or they'd be making a bunch of people who can't help it die or disappear by force. It'd have to be an individual wish, which means the rest of us all get stuck.

[ In a way, it's like saying she doesn't want him to disappear though so that's good, right? ]

[Hmm, a wish for everyone to go home. It's a moment or two before he continues.]

I think I have to go back though. If I don't go back then Sora can't wake up. As much as I feel like I'm my own person Namine says I'm not. I'm just a part of him. I'm kind of just glad I get to spend some more time hanging out with Lea before then. I've met Sora though. He's a nice guy. He's okay with me being here at least, but I don't really think things can just...change.

The ruby that everyone's after here! There's a plaque on the fountain. I don't know if it's real or not but enough people seem to think it is. If you gather all the shards, you get a wish. That's what everyone says anyway.

[ She's still not sure she buys it, but for now it's all she's got to go on. Until she can convince someone else to start investigating other ways with her, at least. ]

That's great for you, but I'm sure not everyone is going to have some benefit from going back.
