[ Weiss has been keeping to herself for a few days, really only having spoken with Ruby and Jaune so far.. but this situation has come to a climax. She can't take it anymore. She has to do something! Even if it means acknowledging the other people who may or may not actually be pirates. ]

I'm going to ask you all a question and one of you had better have an answer! Is there anywhere in this place to sleep that isn't full of smelly drunkards? Maybe a place with an ice machine that looks a little more like it's got zero chance of bugs.

[ Weiss's tone is dead serious. She has absolutely no tolerance for this quality of rooming. Bunk beds, dorm rooms? Fine. They're clean, warm, and more than comfortable at the top school for huntresses and hunters. They definitely aren't situated over a noisy bar. The other option was to actually get a ship and she wasn't going to deal with a tiny little dinghy-- that would probably be worse than the room. ]

I know my standards can be a little high sometimes... but there is absolutely no way I'm staying in a place that's not even fit for animals for one more night. [ The last three words are punctuated to emphasize her point. ]

There were some efforts in that direction early on, but all of the people involved have disappeared and we haven't really had a chance to reorganize.

You don't have to have everyone involved, just have the captain of each ship go to a meeting with a small list from their crews. At the meeting, the questions get prioritized and the top priority get asked in order each time this Scurvy Dog fellow shows up.

I'm not the heiress to one of the biggest dust companies because I play around chasing after a bunch of rumors, you know.

Dust! You know! Energy? Fire, water, lightning, ice? You have to have it mined and purified from quarries, and it's highly explosive if loose and not properly stored and cared for. Schnee Dust Company is the number one dust company in the four kingdoms, and I'm Weiss Schnee.

I can show you if I can get more. I'm not going to waste what I have left on a demonstration if I can't.

I think that may be a unique quality of your world. I've never heard of such a thing.

I didn't say that. You might be able to find it on some island or not. And if not, there's a store called the Backwater Brig that reportedly carries items that can't be found anywhere else. But it's not something you could have found where I'm from.

If they have it, they're not a licensed carrier of Schnee Dust products. It's probably lower grade. [ Weiss is very obviously trying to decide if that's okay or not. There are pirates all around here, there's a chance it's actual Schnee dust, which... would definitely be bad. She might have a conflict of interest there. Or possibly lose her temper because you can't just carry dust without a permit ok. ] It'd be better than nothing I suppose.

How long have you been here?

[Karen giggles at the absurdity. She's pretty sure it wasn't intentional and that arguably makes it funnier. Ah, she's never been on this side of these moments before.]

Roughly three and a half months. The local date was September 8 when I first arrived, and it's December 19 now.

What is so funny? [ Her grandfather's company is very important to her! Absurd or not she's gotta think about this stuff! ]

Is that long a time normal for this place?

It's just that you're been transported against your will to a world where you might not have access to an important resource, and the first thing you question is whether the store that might have it is properly licensed.

Nobody's really certain what's "normal" here yet. This wasn't happening at all before the group that arrived in September.

If you didn't sound so serious, I wouldn't be certain he was even a real person. What kind of name is Ozpin?

That's the Headmaster's name at Beacon Academy!

At the risk of stating the obvious, I'm not familiar with it.

It's one of the best academies in Remnant for hunters and huntresses. I'm a student there, from Team RWBY. Ruby Rose is our team leader, she's also here, then Jaune Arc is the leader from Team JNPR. Those are all the people I know that are here already.

This Ruby Rose... does she have black hair and fight with a scythe?

I ran into her when she first arrived. I told her she could join us on the Antoinette if she wanted, which I suppose is an offer I should extend to you and your other friend as well.

What are your policies as a group? I'll have to discuss it with the two of them before we agree to anything, but chances are she didn't missed a few key things to ask.

That's actually a bit up in the air at the moment. Our original captain disappeared a few weeks ago and we're still breaking in the new one, so to speak. But as a group we're not interested in actual piracy, and Suoh-san's policy seems to be to treat the crew like a family.
