Because I have the skills to back up my words. I raised myself my whole life and it would be stupid for someone to underestimate me just because of my age. I'm more competent and driven than most adults can ever dream of being.

Master wordsmith, swordsman, multi-talented, able to asses any situation and come up with at least twenty fucking solutions to a single problem and verify which of the outcomes would be the most profitable.

Also I can fly and rip someone's soul out of their body, but I'd rather not use that power unless I really have to because ripping someone's soul out is kind of a dick move.

That too.

The only downside is that we'll have to start off small and have less information about the rest of the going ons, but I've already got that covered as well. I've established an alliance with a crew that's been here for a while already, and they've agreed to be my informant on any old and new info in exchange for the device that'll let them detect other ships in their area.

I've had a rather lengthy conversation with this woman, and turns out I've got a relative on her crew. I know she can be trusted, and trusted to keep shit confidential. I don't trust people often. My trust here will extend to her crew and my own, and that's it. In a place like this, you can't afford to make too many alliances for that exact reason. Somewhere along the line, someone's gonna fuck you over.

[The next part comes after a moment's hesitation and after he switches it over to private.]

Also I plan to install a device that not only allows me to monitor them but also gives me the ability to blow it the fuck up whenever I see fit no matter what distance I am from it. A fail safe mechanism.

The explosion wouldn't be strong enough to kill anyone, just enough to blow up the device itself which will be rather small. The worst that would happen is a small fire, some collateral damage to anything near it and a few burns if someone was standing too close. And I would never risk setting it off if my bro was anywhere near it. I protect my friends and family with my life, there's no question about that.

I just know in a place like this, blind trust isn't something one can just give away that easily. It's better to have a back up plan if, like you said, they turn out to be untrustworthy and try to back out of the deal. It's more of a fail safe to destroy the radar itself so they can't continue using it after fucking me over. Anyone in my crew will be under my protection and responsibility, I won't let anything happen to any of them no matter what. I'd throw myself on the sword first if they show trust in return.

Should have been more clear on that initially, however I was under the assumption it would go without saying that no one would get seriously hurt in the process. I'll work on keeping my intentions more clear in the future.

Dirk Strider, AKA Cap'n Di-Stri the Prince of Heart.

It's a safe assumption to have about most people to be honest. You can never be too careful.

And if the enemy is too busy laughing then that just makes it easier to kick their ass and rob them blind. I thought the same thing too when I first heard my title was Prince of Heart, but where I'm from that translates to Destroyer of Souls. It's just a nicer way of saying it without slapping on the glaring sign of YOUR SHIT BE FUCKED.

But I'm cool with just going by Dirk or Di-Stri, it's more of an official title.

As of right now, none. I just started about two hours ago, it's a work in progress. However, I've already started on making notes for the different size ships they have available, along with how best to optimize them and how to budget supplies, leaving variables open for the input of other crew members should they have opinions on the matters. I also already have notes on where the navy was last seen and how best to work around them while planning to start off in a direction that's opposite from the alliance I mentioned, in order to assure as much ground is covered as possible.

If you agree, you can even snag the position of First Mate. Looks like you sure as hell got the experience for the job if you'd be interested.

Sure, if that's what you want I'm not opposed to the idea. But it'd mainly put you in a position of authority to make sure the rest of the crew stays in line and doesn't do stupid shit when I'm not looking.

I'll look forward to it then.

Honestly, my decision isn't based off of your experience. It's based on the fact that you showed concern for others and seemingly would be willing to have absolute loyalty and care to your crew. If I'm gonna be making a new "family" here, that's the mindset I want them to have.

Then there's something else we have in common. I believe pushing people to their potential is sometimes necessary, especially when they don't see that potential themselves.

Guess that means I'll keep on looking for other potentials, and you can keep me updated on your crew shopping status.

Good luck. I'll be waiting to hear back on that.

[Another reply comes from Dirk a couple hours later, he's got to stop finding these troublesome women.]

Quick question. When you say magical knowledge, do you know how to cast spells like a wizard? I found another potential but she insists she works best with a wizard around who can cast spells and has a lot of energy.
