It's sounding like I've got a few places open on the ship I'm with, the Shepherd, but I'm not really sure what you're looking for in a crew... do you have any thoughts? I mean, we're all looking to go home, but... some of us have different ideas than others on how to accomplish that.

If not, though, I'm okay at conversation. Or being an acquaintance.

[Rikka was starting to get into the idea of being welcoming to new people - Mana was better at it in person, typhoon of pink jubilation that she was, but Rikka herself wasn't bad at carrying a conversation.]

Well, let's not be all rape and pillaging about it. That's about it as far as my thoughts go. Which I guess means pirates that aren't actually pirates, huh? Anyway, I don't really know much more than that right now, so I'm pretty keen on the idea of going with the flow.

Piracy for people forced into piracy, then. I know the feeling. If you're okay with being aboard a ship that's looking to protect the seas from themselves - or rather, keeping everyone safe when the Navy doesn't feel like it - we might be just what you're looking for.

A word of warning - regardless of what kind of ship you join, the Navy is out for all our heads. Think carefully about what you want to do and who you want to join, but you will be in danger no matter the choice. It would be best if you're confident in your ability to defend yourself. I've had fun out here, and it's been exciting, but I have no illusions that this place is safe. Please be careful, okay?

Back home, guns were a recent invention. I have been told this puts me many hundreds of years behind some in this world.

You have no lack of company concerning inexperience regarding 'piratey' affairs, I fear. It is an education many of us are gaining together.

I guess you could say I was an officer of the peace back where I was... [ Yet she doesn't seem all that interested in defending the position of the Navy or even Rikka's crew in the above conversation. Curious. ] It's not really something I was apprenticed to do if that's what you're asking, though. Just kind of filled a spot that was open.

Oh, I certainly do. You asked about a trade, which can be something entirely different. Music is my interest, along with [ small beat ] fiction.

Hardly enough. Before all of that you want to state what you're willing to do and what you are not. Unless you want to be invited to join a crew that pillages, kills and rapes for fun and to progress on in this world. Or in the case that you're actually up for those things, you may end being invited to join by the crew that has decided to be "anti-pirate" and waste their time chasing the rest while the Navy chases them as well for being pirates despite their claims.

[While Ikki respects and approves of an "anti-pirate" crew, in their situation it's just plain... Stupid in his opinion. Mostly because whatever they say and do, the Navy will still consider them pirates.]

Definitely none of that violent, overly-clichéd-for-a-reason bullshit. I'll take any job that suits, don't care really, but I'd rather not end up with a crew who thinks ventriloquism with fresh-made corpses are the pinnacle of humor.

I don't think any crew would claim to do just that, but if you want nothing to do with that, it's better to steer clear from those who are "willing to do anything". Though I'm sure all crews won't shy on violence if they are attacked first.

Regarding the Navy... For them we're unlicensed people who belong to nowhere, running around their world looking for some treasure rumored to be quite powerful. We're pirates, no matter what we do or what we intent, and they chase us like they chase the other pirate ships of this world.

I wouldn't recommend trying to speak reason with them.

[ There's a pause as she takes that last part in. It sounds hilariously sucky, but there doesn't seem to be much to change it and hell if she doesn't completely understand dumb status quos. ]
