A death sentence seems like a bit much for the crime of piracy, huh. . . tch. And they're supposed to be the law enforcement of this world? Gimme a break. Some law enforcement that is.

[Someone is highly against killing as a form of punishment, if that much wasn't obvious. His existing bias against law enforcement doesn't help matters, either]

[He flips a page when he's done writing, and starts a completely new entry, but not before asking his journal politely to filter it to those on his crew]

I wish you luck. If you do manage to get the shard, would you mind sending me a rough sketch of it to size? I'd just like to know how big they are. That might tell us something about how many we'll need to find to have a chance at getting home.

Have you considered the possibility that if this jewel does what it's rumored to, there may only be one wish applicable to one person? Or that other people may not want the same wish you think should be made?

But if the jewel is in pieces, and multiple people pick up multiple pieces, then we're all going to have to collaborate somehow.

Better to wait until you're in a position to bargain, though, isn't it? Than to announce you have a piece? Especially when Shepard is easy to identify.
