[The journal sits in Kaito's lap, propped open but turned to an empty page, for quite some time before he actually starts writing in it.]

A death sentence seems like a bit much for the crime of piracy, huh. . . tch. And they're supposed to be the law enforcement of this world? Gimme a break. Some law enforcement that is.

[Someone is highly against killing as a form of punishment, if that much wasn't obvious. His existing bias against law enforcement doesn't help matters, either]

. . . yeah, a little. But I think that's what they were trying to do.

I know that piracy is wrong, but I also don't believe that all crimes should be punished with death.

'M in the same boat. I wouldn't consider myself a pirate, but putting people to death for it? It's a little much.

I feel the same... This doesn't make me feel any more in danger, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

I don't think everyone who considers themselves a pirate is automatically bad, either.

As far as crimes go, stealing isn't too bad...

Depends on what people are stealing, but in that example it's hardly something worth harsh punishment.

Most of the natives consider us pirates, whether we actually are or not. I think the Navy would be quick to sentence us to death if they had a chance.

It's difficult to turn against the ways of a world we're not even from.

And a world that seems to be against us completely.

Just because we were brought here against our will doesn't necessarily mean it was by theirs, so I understand everyone from here being frustrated, but... [ well, she's not sure where that sentence is going. She doesn't quite have reasonable alternatives. ]
