[The journal sits in Kaito's lap, propped open but turned to an empty page, for quite some time before he actually starts writing in it.]

A death sentence seems like a bit much for the crime of piracy, huh. . . tch. And they're supposed to be the law enforcement of this world? Gimme a break. Some law enforcement that is.

[Someone is highly against killing as a form of punishment, if that much wasn't obvious. His existing bias against law enforcement doesn't help matters, either]

Everyone, be careful out there, yeah?

[He flips a page when he's done writing, and starts a completely new entry, but not before asking his journal politely to filter it to those on his crew]

It would have been nice to find out that somebody would help us. Perhaps the people whose entire job is that.

And how many people does that include? Scurvey Dog and Margie-san? S'not many.

It's supposed to be the navy's job, I'd think. But apparently not.

No, stopping piracy is their job. [and killing pirates a part of that]

And as "pirates," we're a part of the group they're trying to stop.

As far as I can tell, everyone has just decided we're pirates for no reason.

Half of us don't even want to engage in piracy. I know the crew members of The Shepherd prefer to be known as adventuring treasure hunters.

Er, or that might just be me.

That's a good description of most of us, I suspect.

I sorta got that impression, too. Has a nicer ring to it! And it's much more fun.

They all seem determined to think of us as pirates, though.

Any idea on how we can change that?

Ha. Likewise. It's kinda hard to come up with a working plan when I have yet to meet anyone from this Navy face-to-face, though.

I suppose we could go around helping other ships that were in trouble, but that would require us to find some other ships that were in trouble.

. . . and I wouldn't want to wish for trouble on anyone's ship.

Judging by everyone else around here, they'd probably blame us anyway.

Non-natives make good scapegoats, it seems.

Though there are some people here who are causing trouble.

Typical. Not a thought for what kind of effect they're having on everyone else.

Or without a care. 'M not sure which one's worse.

What's worse is if that's the intended effect.

[uuuuugh, he would hope not. Surely no one was intentionally making things difficult for the out-of-worlders, right?]

Anyway, let's hope people will be more careful from here on out.

I hope so, but now it seems like we're going to have a constant supply of more newcomers to keep making the same mistakes.

You think we should try writing up a brochure to pass out every time a new group of people arrives?
