9th rise of the phoenix ஜ Voice

[The first thing that Ikki does upon finding himself on Isla Empieza is to throw up. It may be due the feeling of being pulled back and forth through a diminute hole at the speed of light, or it may be due the way his brain is drained and then explodes with memories. It takes him a bit to clear his mind, to get a hold of his surroundings, the memories that had been taken and then returned.

As he recovers, he casts a glance around if only to confirm that this isn't his home. He was sent back only to be returned to this world right away. And that's not the worst part of it. The worst part is that he doesn't know how long has it been here. He remembers from others that months here could have been just a few hours for them back in their worlds, and he wouldn't put it past Davy Jones and Chronos to make it be centuries here while it was just a second for him.

The second thing that Ikki does upon returning is to open his journal and snarl at it.]

How fucking long has it been?!

[Even if that's the first thing that he asks, it's not really what he cares for the most.]

Are the Spades still active? [Do people even know them yet? If they vanished and enough time passed it's possible people wouldn't have heard of them.]

Is Selphie Tilmitt still here?!

[Wait a second.]

Lea is gone? Since when?

[He can't remember that, though some parts are quite fuzzy even though mostly everything is intact. Still, he would have thought he would remember that, though not for good reasons.]

[Roxas can be strangely honest. He makes a noise as he thinks.]

A few days before you left maybe? I...don't really know. I've kinda lost track of things.

[How long it's been, if he's eaten, he's been a real space cadet.]

He was gone and then there was a kraken thing and then Selphie said you were gone and I saw her.

Hn... It seems things from recently before I left are gone or fuzzy, I can't remember that well right now.

[He guesses. He isn't really unhappy about Lea being gone, but he's not going to celebrate it either. He wanted to punch him at least once after all, him being gone means that he won't be able to do so.]

It's okay if you don't remember! Right? I forget stuff all the time.

[No one seems that unhappy he's gone, except Roxas really.]

And do you like it?

[Last time he checked Roxas didn't like it that much, or was that just Ikki's own impression?]

No. I don't. I hate it and me. But...but I mean, he wasn't important to you, right, so maybe you just didn't pay attention to that. Like it wasn't something you'd note.

[Damn if his voice doesn't catch while he's speaking. He doesn't want Ikki to feel bad for not knowing, but the fact so many people don't care about Lea makes him sad.]

You misunderstand if you think that he wasn't important to me, just not in the same way as he was to you. Or in a positive way.

But he wasn't someone I wouldn't pay attention to, quite the opposite.

[Just... Not for good reasons, you know. He's sure Roxas doesn't like that Ikki isn't sad about Lea being gone, but he's also sure that the kid knows that already so lying would be pointless.]

I didn't think about that. I guess I figure when you don't like someone you just don't pay attention anymore.

[His tone his thoughtful.]

I don't know if there's that many people I don't like.

Depends on the person, but I prefer to keep tabs on where the people I don't like are. Makes life easier in the long run.

[Keep an eye on your friends and two on your enemies, or something like that.]

I think Shun would say that it's good to not have people you don't like. It's not like it's a requirement to life or anything.

There are some. Some I really really hate, but they're not here and I can't do anything about them. Maybe someday I'll be able to kick their asses but...

[He exhales.]

I'm glad you're back anyway, even if it's been a long time since I saw you.

Hn... Thanks, I suppose, I'm not sure what one's supposed to say to "I'm glad you're back".

[Not that it matters much with Roxas, the kid probably doesn't know either.]

Try to remember to eat and sleep.

Ummm, I don't know! Am I saying the wrong thing? [He very well could be.]

I've been sleeping a little.

Beats me, we will have to find someone versed on the art of being taken and returned from worlds and ask them. Do you know anyone?

[It's hard to know if he's being serious or just joking. He himself isn't sure.]

So you haven't been eating.

[Why isn't he surprised?]

[He gets a noise that sounds suspiciously like a stifled giggle at that.]

No one, sorry.

[He pauses a moment.]

I haven't been but it's okay. I don't feel like it.

Do you want to be weak if you get attacked?

[Honest question.]

No, but I won't be. I'm not weak.

[Listless and horribly useless maybe, but not weak.]

Tell that to your body when it starts to run out of energy due not having eating properly. At the very least make sure to eat once a week, else, weak or not you won't be of much use if you get attacked.

[In his own experience, at least.]

I slept for a month before without eating and nothing bad happened. I just woke up and started doing missions again.

I don't have to eat, it's just for pretending. Like I'm a person.

Maybe. Or maybe nothing bad happened because you were sleeping and thus not wasting your energy, like now that you're awake.

[He's not going to fight it, though, unless Roxas got back to the Spades he's not going to argue that much. Besides, he himself has gone without eating more than he should.]

Be careful either way.

Maybe. I didn't think of that. Mostly I'm just lying around.

[He sighs a little. Coincidentally, Roxas is currently with the Spades but any talk of coming back has not been mentioned.]

I'll try and be careful I guess. But I'd just disappear into nothing if something happened to me.

Technically you would just return to life sooner or later if something happened to you while you're here. Like it happened the first time. I return to life too even back in my own world, but that isn't a reason to not be careful.

[And you're not "nothing", kid. You have caused too much pain and arguments to be "nothing", but Ikki keeps that to himself.]

I remember. I'll still be careful though Ikki, I promise. I don't want anything to happen to me.

No one here wants anything to happen to you, Roxas.

[Unless Lea convinced someone else, that is.]

I know! I guess you sound worried? [He's guessing, but he thinks it's right.]

Why wouldn't I talk with you? I like talking to you. It's just been awhile. A lot has happened.

Well, I certainly don't sound happy when talking about harm or anything bad happening to you. It's another reason why I don't like Lea being gone, I know how important he is to you.

[There's a humorless chuckle as an answer to Roxas' next question.]

I wonder why... I suppose that I'll never get totally used to the idea that people want anything from me unless there's a fight involved.

[Nor here, nor in his world, despite the many proofs of that not being true.]

Guess it's because I don't feel like I deserve any of it, not even having someone enjoying talking with me.
