Prayer 1- Voice

The voice is a little wavering and unsteady, but quiet and reverent all the same.

Are you there, Heavenly Father?

It's me, Kevin.

I know I've done the unthinkable, abandoning Elder Cunningham in Uganda and breaking rule seventy-two- and I understand that it's Your righteous judgement that I've not done enough to be forgiven. I thought at first that- well, that's not important. He clears his throat. I should never have questioned You, and this is my punishment-

No, not my punishment. This is the opportunity that You've granted me to redeem myself.

I read the words on the fountain, thanks to the guide You placed in my path. 'What once was whole, now 'tis shattered'- I understand! Now, his voice steadies. It's been my mission all along, to do something so incredible- to gather together these tortured souls that have been shattered from beneath Your sight and make them whole again. Make all of us whole again.

'It's power is great, true depths untold'- it's the power inside of me. I understand now.

So, Lord- if You could see fit to put a patient, forgiving crew in my path as well, I would really appreciate it- I understand You help those who help themselves, but growing up in Utah didn't really prepare me for sailing- not that I'm complaining, mind you, it's just an observation.

Yeah, I'm familiar with it. And you don't need to go into your whole speech or programmed dialogue or whatever, I don't need to be enlightened. You should probably keep all of that to a minimum here.

He sounds taken aback- but just slightly. Mormons are used to this kind of reception, after all.

I had no intention. An educated man like yourself wouldn't be swayed by some sort of pre-written speech, anyone can see that.

Walt sounds smug, just slightly. He hasn't gotten a compliment like that in quite a while.

Anyway, I wouldn't go around trying to talk like that here. You should probably find a crew as soon as possible. Wandering around alone is a bad idea.

That shouldn't matter! [He doesn't sound any less jovial though.] Fourteen, but I've been sneaking onto boats since I was barely walking and sailing on my own since I was five. This is the safest ship in the sea, I can guarantee you that.

Now he sounds horrified.

Fourteen?? Where are your parents?! There are dangerous things in this world- you should be at home, not out- out- sneaking onto boats! Since you were five?!

Who are you speaking to? I am sure no one who is hearing this is your father and is unrelated to the method of which brings you. I doubt that wretched sea god pirate that kidnaps us cares what you find for yourself to do. I also doubt there is anything you can do for us, unless you have the unique ability to return us to our rightful places.

It was a prayer, to God. And He is related to all things- especially for what I do here. I'm on a two year mission to work in His name. I don't know this 'sea god pirate' you refer to, but there's a reason that all of us are here, I'm sure of it.

The one of whom I mension is the one who has spirited us all away to this land. The only reason is for his ammusement I would assume.

As for your prayer and mission, I am uncertain that any of the gods could help much, and I doubt there is much relation here. Though what is this mission you speak of?

He perks up at the mention of his mission.

I was sent on a two-year mission, as are all the men of my age in my religion, to spread the word of God to others, and to minister to the less fortunate. This isn't, well... this isn't exactly where I was originally sent, but there must be a reason I'm here- and just from being here a short time now, I can already tell there are people here who are in pain and hurting, who need the light of the Lord. I'm here to bring it to them.

[Hrm.... This almost sounds like a prayer. Perhaps she shouldn't have interrupted him then.]

Oh- excuse me. Yes, I was addressing Him, but it seems many have been interested in my words. I'm not offended, really.

No please excuse as I did not mean to interrupt your prayer. Is He like the goddess?

A-addled? Oh- oh, no, no, I'm fine, I assure you- I was just praying, that's all! I can understand that it might have sounded a little strange, but that's all it was, just a conversation between myself and God.
