[theres the sound of a book being flung open, and then...]

what the HECK?! What'd I do, piss of Davy Jones or something? Eat some strange food? Walk through some... Cursed fairy magical stupid crap?! WHY AM I A....[he paused to look at himself again. Just what the heck is he?]

FURRY RACCOON THING?!

....urgh. I like this place but it's weird. Seriously. Whatever this crap is, it better go back to normal. Anyone in the Bloody Roses hear me? It looks like I'm on isle Empieza for some weird reason in addition to being a fuzzy freaking forest animal. I'm gonna go to the Backwater Brig and use the nav to get to the ship.

((Ooc: oh noes! Thash has swapped bodies with Yasaburo the raccoon dog shapeshifter! But he doesn't know how to shapeshift so currently he's just a raccoon dog. This post is open to action Yasaburo, Thash, and anyone on the bloody roses who interacts with them while body swapped. Feel free to start branching threads from it where needed. [hed grinned what she said she'd take him for a ride. True, neither of them knew of that would ever even be possible, but if it was, he'd certainly love to do it]

Heh, yeah.... [once he was a falcon again, he clawed and flapped his way back up onto the bed. Then he turned towards the edge again and tried just flapping his wings a bunch. At first it didn't work very well, but when he opened them all the way and flapped as quick as he could, he finally rose into the air a few inches before making an excited noise almost like a yelp and settling back to his feet]

Heh, see that? I flew for a second there!

[he started flapping them again, this time giving a small jump off the edge just before he rose. He still ended up on the floor, but more hovered down than fell this time. Since it wasn't as jarring he didn't mistakenly revert to the body's natural form this time and remained a falcon]

Whew, birds sure gotta flap a lot... [he looked around the room] maybe I could glide a bit from a high point...

*Faye laughed at his first attempt, mostly just amused by how utterly ridiculous this entire sitiation was. She looked around the room at his suggestion, but the highest point was the lantern she'd been given for her birthday and she didn't want him standing on that*

What about the door frame?

*She pointed at the small ledge over the door*

Your tiny bird feet can manage that, right? And then you can sweep down onto my shoulder.

Okay, I'll try it.

[he walked over the door, using his claws a beak with a bit of flapping here and there to climb the frame. Once he was on top, he looked down and around. The too certainly looked bigger and the height of a door frame higher in this little body...but he wasn't too afraid. The bird body felt light enough that a fall would to hurt too much]

Ok....gonna try it now....

[he spread his wings, hesitating a moment before pushing off the ledge almost like he would to dive except forward rather than down.] whoo!

[He didn't have the position of his wings as perfect as a bird with instincts so he didn't glide as efficiently as one, but he did glide. His glide path would have carried him into Faye's lap if he continued but at the end he flapped his wings quickly to raise himself and sort of half-landed half-crashed on her shoulder]

*Faye flinched as he crashed onto her shoulder, turning her face away so that she didn't get smacked by wings, or a mouthful of feathers*

Urgh. Okay. Guess you did it that time. What did it feel like?

*She glanced at him uncertainly, realising that she wasn't really much of a fan of having a bird so close to her face afterall*

[it wasn't hard for him to see she didn't like that, and hopped down from her shoulder into the bed next to her before replying]

Pretty cool! But also...kinda scary, hahah. It would take a lot longer than I hope to spend in this body to get used to that.

[he focused again, shifting back into a body just like his, then leaning back with a sigh. Now that he was alone with Faye and they weren't trying to relax on a date or anything, there were some thing she kind of water to talk to her about... But first, one more idea of what he could do with this body crossed his mind]

I wonder if...I could change into a body that would look like me as a human?

[he ancestors at her to see what she thought of that]

No offense, but I much prefer your shark guy version to your bird version..

*She laughed about that quietly, but watched him curiously as he changed back and sighed. He seemed to have quite a lot on his mind, and she was going to ask what was wrong whenhe made his suggestion*

As a human?

*It hadn't occurred to her to think of such a thing, and she eyed him carefully as she seemed to think it over, somewhat unsure*

I don't know. Would you really want to try that?

[he glanced at her, seeming equally uncertain]

I don't...really know

[he thought about it for a moment. There had been times in his life when he hated humans with a passion, and other times when he felt like he'd give anything to be human. When he'd first come here he'd been full of bitterness on the subject, hating what he was but not liking humans enough to want to be a part of their race. At least hadn't hated them all indiscriminately for quite some time by then. Now he felt much better about what he was, thanks to this world, Namur, and especially Faye. Yet some part of him had always envied humans even during those times of hate. He did wonder what he would have looked like if he'd been born with a body that could fit in with them]

Part of me wants to. But maybe I shouldn't.

[or if he did, maybe he should do it in front of her. He loved that she liked his shark features. What if she decided she liked the human form better?]

You only shouldn't if you're not sure. I mean, maybe it wouldn't work anyway - since a human you doesn't really exist, right?

*Faye had no idea how his transforming skill worked, but she wanted to offer Thash a possibility whereby he could talk himself out of doing it if he wanted to find some kind of excuse. She looked at his face a moment before her eyes travelled down his body in a curious way. She was trying to figure what he might look like with different coloured skin, without the tail and the claws...but it was hard to picture*

[He almost opened his mouth immediately to tell her it probably would work, and that according to Yasaburo he could even turn into inanimate objects... But at the same time, maybe he did want an excuse not to do it. Besides what Faye might think, what would HE think if he could see himself that way? Would he like his looks better as a human? Now that he liked what he was, he didn't want to create a reason to resent it again]

Eh, it was a dumb idea. Maybe it wouldn't work.

*Faye had noticed he'd been about to say something, and wondered if maybe she'd stopped him from saying something else. She shrugged a shoulder, and moved her hand to rest on top of his*

You can always try, if you want? You're not going to have this power forever. Least, I hope not.

[It sounded to him like she wanted to see it... and even as he considered tossing the idea, he knew it might keep coming back to haunt him if he didn't do it. He tried to warm himself up to the idea by remembering that Faye liked him the way he was, and he believed she still would no matter what he ended up looking like. There were lots of attractive humans in this world she could have chosen over him if she didn't like his sharkiness. Yet she had... that was very comforting to him. Besides... this wasn't going to be permanent or anything. If it freaked him or her out he could just go right back to this form]

[He nodded a bit, moving his hand to take hers and lift it before leaning over slightly to plant a light kiss on her knuckles] Alright, I guess I'll try it. I know you like my real body either way.

[He put her hand down, glancing down at himself] I have to be able to visualize stuff clearly before turning into it and since it's kinda hard to visualize myself that way i might have to do this in stages. Would you mind looking away till I'm done?

*Faye watched him, able to recognise now when Thash was thinking about things. Or, in his case, often over-thinking things. Maybe she should have talked him out of it a bit more, but Faye smiled when he kissed her knuckles, looking at him brightly*

I love your body, you know that.

*She nodded and turned her back to him fully, waiting for him to change and staring at the wall in front of her*

Just lemme know when you're done...

[yes, he did tend to overthink things. It was a habit he'd picked up over the course of a life with way too much time alone with nothing but his thoughts to keep him company. He seemed to be done thinking about it now though, smiling at Faye's comment about his body and nodding]

Okay, I'll let you know.

[as he'd said, he ended up having to do it in stages, his body changing as he visualized each non-human feature becoming human. First he got rid of his tail, gills and fins, then his claws and webbing, then he changed his skin color and texture. Finally he focused on his face, changing his ears and eyes and teeth. When he was done, he looked like a human in every way he could think of]

Um...okay, I think I'm done. Tell me if I've missed anything...

*When he said she could, Faye turned round to face him, sure that his change wouldn't be all that different. But as soon as she noticed the change of skin, her mouth opened and she stared at how he looked. It was him, and it wasn't. She leaned closer and took up his human hand, examining it the way she had his shark hands that first day they met. Then she glanced down to where his tail usually was, expecting to see it waving somewhat, but it wasn't. Finally, she met his eyes, the same, but not quite as bright. She wasn't sure what to say, but slowly shook her head*

No... I don't think you did...

[he watched her eyes, wondering what she thought of it. He didn't know what to think of it himself. Sure, it looked more normal than his regular body as far as most people would be concerned. But to him, it felt almost as alien as the raccoon body]

...what's it look like? I know what I look like in my mind right now but it's not quite the same as seeing myself...

*She didn't answer his question at first, still so unsure what to say. He looked the same, but so different*

You look... human.

*Faye let go of his hand and pointed behind him to a large mirror she had. Not quite full length but almost*

[he turned around and moved over to the mirror, looking a little shocked.]

How weird. Heh, well I guess it would to be weird if I'd been born like this...

[he tried to imagine for a moment what it'd be like to be comfortable in this body as if he'd had it all his life]

I guess it's not bad. But since I'm used to having a tail, it's really pretty strange not to have one. Feels like losing an arm or a leg might.

[he glanced at Faye, then back at the mirror] I think if I was a human I'd cut my hair, heh. Not a lot of human men have long hair like this...[then he shrugged and turned back towards her, not wanting to stare at himself any longer]

*Faye bit her lip as she watched Thash examine itself, looking at his back and realising how strange it was without a fin, and without his tail. She brought her hand to his back, running her fingers down his spine where his fin usually was*

You don't like it? There are some human men with long hair...

*She moved closer to him, wrapping her arms around him from behind and resting her chin on his shoulder. When he turned back round she moved away a little, tilting her head at him*

Which body do you like best?

[he liked the feeling of her hand running down his back, but it still felt strange to have no fin there. He'd also liked her arms around him and was tempted to hug her again after turning around. At her question, he scratched the back of his head thoughtfully]

.....honestly? If I had to stay like this id feel kinda...crippled. No tail, and no gills means I lose an entire world of water I can survive and thrive in. I'd even have to catch fish with a pole and fishing line or a net... I don't think Id like that.

Now if I were still under the impression that I couldn't find love without being either a human or an Aquarian, I...might like the body more and wish I could stay like this. The ocean and gills are great, but the water's pretty frickin' lonely without anyone to share it with. But now that I have you and don't feel so rejected...I like my shark body a lot more.

....with all that said though it'd be kinda nice not to have to worry about the possibility of accidentally hurting you with my teeth and claws. Might make intimacy with you a little easier and more relaxed for me. But it hasn't been a significant problem so far, which is awesome.

*It was nice to hug him like that from behind, since she wasn't able to do that with a fin in the way. She nodded as he explained, knowing very well that it must be a shame to lose a whole underwater world. And she knew that he loved that side of things. When he mwntioned feeling lonely, Faye lowered her eyes, but when Thash said that she made him feel better about himself now, she looked up with a smile*

Smile for me?

*She wanted to see that big smile of his and how it suited with his new human teeth. As it was, Faye knew there were places his claws couldn't go, but she did have to nod in general agreement*

For a sharky and a human girl, I think we've been doing okay so far, don't you? No so horribly incompatible, hm?

[hed tried to smile a little when she asked him, but his smile turned much more genuine and big when she said they weren't incompatible]

Heh, yeah, I agree! Seems like all my fears about that were pretty unnecessary. As long as I take my time and get used to something slowly at first, I can do most things a human guy could without hurting you...

[or himself for that matter. For the next move he wanted to try on her sometime he'd be more worried about cutting his own tongue than anything on her...]

Uh...speakin' of comparability though, there's something I've kinda been wanting to talk to you about...if you're in the mood?

[he tried to keep smiling mostly, thinking that maybe heavy subjects didn't always have to be unpleasant. Maybe if he kept a positive tone it'd be less daunting and more enjoyable]

[first, Thash changed back into a body like his normal one. He just felt a lot more comfortable in it and wanted to be comfortable while talking to her. Then he sat next to her, giving her a shy look]

Um I kinda wanted to talk to you about... Well, full intimacy. And what I think about it and...I know it's an uncomfortable thing for you to talk about but ...what could make you pregnant or not.

[he scratched his neck a bit but hurriedly added,]

I hope the topic won't drag you down too much though? It could be a nice thing to talk about if we make it that way.

*That he was back looking nore like hinself made Faye feel more comfoetable already. She blinked when he said what he wanted to talk about, looking down at her knees as she spoke*

Before we start I need to say that yes, this is pretty uncomfortable for me. I've never had to explain this sort of thing before...

*But she made an efffort to sound as sofr and comfortable as possible*

Firstly, the only way I, or any human woman, can get pregnant is by...'full intimacy'. Nothing else is going to do that..

*Though she wasn't sure that Thash was entirely aware of what other possibilities there were in terms of what they could do together*

Secondly, there are lots of things women can do to make sure they don't get pregnant. Right now, I can't because of pills I take.

*Then she paused to he could ask or say what he liked*

[he frowned slightly when she acknowledged it was uncomfortable...he decided to try to keep the discussion short and to the point. He hated making her feel awkward, especially because of things like this...this certainly wasn't something she'd have to do if she were with a guy who knew these things already]

[he was relieved to hear there was only one way to get her pregnant, and the kinds of things they'd done recently didn't fall into that category. He was surprised at the mention of a pill, though]

There's a....pill you can take for that? Whoa...how on earth does that....[he stopped himself] no, never mind. I don't need to know how it works. It always works though?
