[001 || Written / Voice at the end]

[After the escape from Yuezhong -- for those on the Spade Pirates crew, he's on watch up in the crow's nest. Things seem calm at the moment, though, which means he's a liiiiittle bored, so have some random jotted down thoughts.]

Well, definitely didn't pick a boring crew to join. And here I thought I knew how to stir up trouble quickly. Then again, traveling from world to world before, I learned how to keep a low profile, too.

Guess that's not happening here. Can't complain, though. Things are good.

The sea's really quiet tonight...

Watching the ocean like this feels like I'm back home again.

[You'll hear a faint splash suddenly, and there's a pause before the writing starts up again, this time accompanied by Riku's muttered voice:]

.......Except we didn't have fish that big. Or—what is that? Is that a whale??

[Setting his journal in his lap, he pauses a moment, before nodding.]

Yeah, I guess you're right.

[A laugh escapes.] Say... [His expression softens a bit into a more curious one.] What do you think about the crew so far? Think we picked a good one?

[Well... sure, Sora had agreed to join, before finding Riku...

But he totally would have went to a different one, if Riku had said he didn't want to be in this one.]

[Makes a considering sound.]

It's full of interesting people. And troublemakers. Kind of seems right up your alley.

[Gives Sora a sidelong glance and accompanying smirk.]

I think we did alright.

[He frowns a little at the comment about troublemakers being up his alley.]

What's that supposed to mean?

[But the expression softens and he smiles.]

Yeah... I think so, too. [With that, he grinned.]

[Raises an eyebrow.]

Uh, hello? [Gestures at himself.] I was kind of the opposite of innocent for awhile there and you're still hanging out with me. And anyway, this is all...kind of exciting. It's another new world, right? Regardless of how we got here. And I don't mind having to fight sometimes if it's for a good reason.

[Though it might be debatable if 'punching a noble in the face' is a good reason...]

[Now, you look here, Riku... you listen good.]

You were my best friend, before all that. And you weren't exactly yourself. [He looks down.] I just never stopped believing you still had good in you, is all. [Slight grin as he looks back up.] Well, wouldn't you do the same for me?

[Then he adds with a soft laugh.] It is exciting, actually. And, yeah, I'm not sure what that guy did, back there, but... I'm sure it had to be ...something bad. [Yeah, cause ...apparently, questioning the captain isn't something Sora does?]

...Mm. [Rubs at the back of his neck, looking a little awkward.] Of course I would. No question there. [Manages a small grin.] But I don't think I have to worry about that with you.

[Laughs, too, sounding more amused now.] Whatever they did, it sure pissed Ace off. His fire stuff is pretty cool, though.

[He pauses a moment, before laughing a bit.] I... guess not.

[He shrugs a bit, since... well, he doesn't know the future. He's going to hope they're right, at least.]

Yeah... [He then grins a little more widely.] The huge pillar of fire he did was really awesome!

[He leans forward a bit, another laugh escaping.] At least we know we have a strong captain, right??

Seriously, I was down in the harbor and I think I still felt the heat from that blast. It's good he's that strong, but...I think I'm more relieved he knows how to handle a ship this big.

[Shrugs, his grin widening a bit.]

I mean, you and I, we know we can ourselves in a fight anyway. Did you get to show off any of your stuff?

Ha ha yeah... That's definitely important, too!

[Pausing a moment, he scratches the back of his head.] Well, yeah, of course, but...

I didn't want to hurt any of them, too badly. They seemed pretty normal, at first. Of course, ...they definitely weren't. Even after a full blast of lightning, some stood right back up and were coming straight at us! Normal people can't do that, right? [Then again... they're not exactly in a normal place--he realizes that, completely, now.]

Not that it completely matters, now. We'll probably never see that island, again. [Sheepish laugh.]

I think after the past two years, I've forgotten what even qualifies as 'normal' anymore. But going against your lightning... Yeah, that's kind of surprising that it didn't take them out right away. Anyway, you never know, we might go back there sometime. Guess it depends how big this world is...

[Opens his journal again after a moment.]

Want to play Hangman or something?

... Yeah, that's a good point, actually. And I guess we'll only know after we explore some more, how big this place really is. [He laughs.

To the question, he immediately opens his own journal and nods. Heck yeah, he'll play a game with Riku. And he'll totally win.]

Yeah!

I'm curious what other kinds of islands we'll discover.

[Thinks for a moment.] I'll start with something easy. [Then jots down the following:]

I'm sure there's gonna be so really cool ones!

[That's a lot of spaces, there, Riku. He taps his chin a moment.]

Hmmm... T?

Mm... So what else is going on? Any changes with your friend?

[Yep, one T!]

...He doesn't seem to be doing so good. I'm actually starting to worry, a little.

[Turns out it's for a good reason, considering the captain gets eaten, in the future.

Oh, hey! ...But the look on his face implies that doesn't help him all that much. He speaks in an unsure tone.]

R?

You think maybe he's getting... [Hesitates.] Hungry?

And nope, no R.

[So he sketches out a quick gallows and adds a head!]

[Faintly nervous laugh.] Maybe... He also seems more tired, lately.

[Aw, man. He jots that guess way off to the side, so he can keep up with which ones he's tried. He tosses out another random letter, since he still doesn't have a remote guess on what the answer could be.]

[He looks down, scratching at the back of his head.] Actually... [Sighs.] No. I promised to think of something, but... there's nothing. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin.

[Maybe he should try a vowel, since consonants aren't being very helpful. And, he said this one is easy...

What's a good vowel...? A's usually a good one, right? Sure, he'll go with that one.]

Well. He's a tough one. Are you hoping to get him to come to terms with being a vampire, or what?

[It is easy!! And luckily there's an A.]

Yeah, you've got that right! [He attempts to mask his worry with a laugh; although, Riku probably can tell that's all he's doing--Sora's not a very good liar, after all.]

Yeah, I'm hoping maybe he'll find--I guess, a more positive... outlook? [He gives a slightly nervous laugh, now. Yeah, he's not even sure what he's hoping for, besides making the guy less suicidal.

Oh, man! Two in a row! ...Hm... He might just have it...

IS IT A PLACE?]

[The corner of his mouth tugs up a bit.]

You know you don't have to do that with me, you've already said you're worried. [He sighs, tapping his pencil against the journal for a moment.] I was hoping over time he'd realize things really aren't that bad...but what do I know, right? I'm not a vampire.

[Oh ho ho, MAYBE! And there are TWO Ds!]

Hey, you're getting there...

[He said starting to worry... a little. ~~Which is, indeed, code for "I'm really very worried". Freakin' Riku and his knowing this.~~

Sora lets the mask slip off, all the same and sighs. Riku's trustworthy, and he knows he'll never say anything, so...]

You can't tell him you know this... [He pauses a moment.] It was... his best friend who did it. Who... [His voice grows a little quieter.] killed him.

[So, maybe Natsuno has a very good reason for having trouble believing things aren't that bad. He pauses a moment before returning to the game, his pen tracing letters over the empty spaces.

...Oh, he's almost completely sure, but he'll make another guess, here.]

[Well, that hits a little too close to home. Riku looks up sharply, his eyes wide.]

What—why? That's. [Frowns, then shakes his head and looks away again.] Damn... Okay, yeah, I can see how that would mess someone up. ...A lot.

[Frooowns some more, rubbing the back of his neck. Eventually glances back down at the journal because he could use the distraction. He can't help giving an amused snort.]

You've gotta be able to guess this by now.

[He gives Riku a slightly concerned look, before glancing back down. Yeah, it had actually brought up a pretty extensive conversation when Natsuno told him that--of course, he never did get around to telling all of the details (at least, not the ones about what really happened with Riku). That's really not something he'd ever tell anyone, now that he thinks about it.]

From the way he made it sound, it was something Tohru couldn't... help?

[He's back to the game, after that, the amused sound from his friend actually causing a faint grin to appear on his face.]

It's Destiny Islands, right? Yeah, I had kinda figured that's what it was.
