Voice - The Murderess is no more, all hail the Princess

[Link's voice is not what it used to be. Those that knew him before would have little chace of recognizing him on that alone now that he'd skipped puberty and gone straight to Hero of Time 17yr old body. His voice was deep, more bass than tenor, but manner in which he spoke held the kind of innocence his 10yr old mind had always had.]

Hello everyone.

This is Link, Cabin Boy of the- Sorry. That's what I wanted to let everyone know about.

The Charming Murderess has been scuttled. It's been a few weeks since we did it, but we decided that it had to be done. Our new ship is the Sea Princess. That was the name I picked and everyone voted for it!

[Which is kind of exciting!]

So now I'm not the Cabin Boy of the Charming Murderess anymore. I'm not a Cabin Boy at all! I get to join the watch rotation on the Sea Princess and help out with much bigger things.

And the Howling Sabers want to recruit more people, too! So if you need a crew, you should ask Miss Maggie to send you to our ship. It doesn't matter what you can do, I'm sure we'll be able to find a job for you! We could really use a cook, though. Someone who knows how to make a lot of good stuff with apples.

[Sorry, Sasuke. That's how he recruits.]

Ah well, it... matters SOME what they can do. The captain has ordered us to focus on finding those skilled in personal combat.

We can look for those people, too. But we need people to help the ship keep going. If they can't fight, we can teach them how later.

Training is quite the investment, Link... Though I suppose Futo might jump at the chance.

She likes being in charge of security. I have to report to her now, don't I?

Yes, but it's not so bad being subordinate to her... Well, our last disagreement non-withstanding.

I'll do my best. As long as she doesn't try to be overprotective again, I think it will be fine.

[He was glad they weren't in the same room because suddenly he felt very flustered and didn't know why.]

Sorry to hear you had to do that to her. She was a sister ship to the Mistress.

The Sea Princess can still be a sister ship! The Mistress should come sail with us again! We can have a party! Like the one we had the games at!

[He'd been talking about how they'd been built .

We should meet up again. I don't know if we're going to enter but we might be in Port Chance for the ghost race.

We'll be there, too! Captain Sasuke wants to enter the race.

I think Haytham and I need to meet with you captain about the committee Codi used to run. [Talking in person would be much easier even it would take a few weeks for them to be in one location]

You'll have to ask him about meeting up. I don't know what his plans are. Just that we're entering the race.

What happened to your previous ship? Was it damaged?

[That sparks a bit of melancholy in Robin. She's only had to scuttle a ship once- and that ship was more than simply a mode of transportation, it was a true friend and her first real home.]

It's good that you were able to obtain a new ship though. Congratulations on picking the name. Speaking of, what's yours, if I may ask?

Link! And I'm not supposed to go into detail about why it was scuttled. It was the best um... Idea? Option?... Decision! It was the best decision at the time.

[It couldn't be seen, but he had given a single, firm, nod. His voice equally firm in having figured out the right word to say what he meant.]

[She had spoken to one of the Links. Or she had been lead to believe that there was more then one? A younger one had spoken to her that she had dubbed him Lil Link. She's assuming this is the other one, because she's sure as hell not sure]

I'm sorry to hear about the ship. I was curious though, if your crew had Lil Link with them? I've talked to him once before but haven't in a bit.

[Link did not drop the book, but there was a sharp intake of breath before a long stretch of silence. Then, very, very, very hesitantly, and very softly, he replied:]

[Awwww, Lil Linnnk! That brought a smile, albeit small, to her face, and in her voice too]

Hello, Lil Link. Sounds like congratulations are in order on your promotion from Cabin Boy to Watch.

[She didn't seem to question his change in voice. Which was a relief. Not that they had talked much before. Mostly written to each other.]

Do you have a ship now?

[She hadn't questioned it, YET. She had noticed it though, and might be looking back over some journals and voice recordings between comments.]

I do. I ran into a group of people who aren't interested in piracy. Looks like a handful of Marines from another world, and then some. One of them, Coby, is even teaching me not to be useless on the ship. [she even sounds amused by this.]

I learned how to take care of a ship when I first arrived. I learned from Captain Jack Sparrow and Mister Gibbs.

[His voice got louder, stronger. He was relaxing.]

Now I can sail a ship by myself if I need to. A small ship. One of the sailboats. Ours is the Hey! Listen!. I named it after my friend Navi.

That's pretty impressive. Sounds like you had good teachers. Give me a bit of time and I might be able to handle a small ship on my own too. For having no affinity to water I feel like I'm doing alright with it.

[she chucked about the man though. That's pretty cute.] So you guys have two ships then?

Yep! A galleon and a sailboat! We only need one person to sail the Hey! Listen!, the rest can sail the Sea Princess. And when we need everyone on the Sea Princess, we can tie the Hey! Listen! to the Princess and tow her.

That sounds awesome Lil’ Link. though I suppose you aren’t so little now, are you? [because he didn’t sound so small. Still young and adorable though]

[The shyness returned and his voice quieted.]

...no. I got bigger. I'm not as big as the other Link, but it's hard to tell.

My how fast kids grow, huh? She smiled to herself for the thought, but instead asked...] Did you run into something that made you grow? Or did you go home for a bit? [because she had been hearing about that too.]

I went home for a few weeks. There, I mean. It was only a few weeks there. Here it was about ten days is what Captain Sasuke said. But I was little the whole time I was home. When I got here, when I climbed back onto the ship, I was big. I've never been big before.

It sounds like you grew up in a couple of weeks... how interesting. And you feel all right?

But I didn't grow up when I was there. I was small the whole time! Then I was suddenly big when I got back here.

[He repeated it because it was important. This wasn't normal.]

I don't feel any different, just bigger. And I can't fit into the holes I used to.

That's strange. Any idea what might have happened? Are you... unhappy like this?

I think Sea Princess is a much better name.

I guess it is! I like it a lot! I'm engaged to a Sea Princess now, too.

Engaged? What do you mean?

[As much as he hated the name when very short and very angry, he has to admit that it's probably a better name to recruit with than Murderess. And the younger Link seems to be doing a decent job at convincing everyone else that the old ship is thoroughly scuttled, so as long as no one tries to Nav to it, things should work out. Even if someone does, they'll have to hang out in the traps for a while before they'll be able to get word out.

This recruiting, though ...]

... I suppose we could use someone who can cook, but the priority is still those who can protect the ship.

We can teach them how to fight.

We cannot turn noncombatants into seasoned fighters in a matter of weeks or months, especially if they don't have the stomach for risk.

Sure we can! I never fought before I took up the sword and I'm great at it! It only took me a day!

... uh-huh. [He sounds deeply, deeply skeptical.]

And just how do you propose to teach your instant sword skills to someone else?

Put a sword in their hands and have them practice against rocks. Or barrels.

[Clearly it would work.]

... rocks and barrels don't fight back. Is that what you've been practicing on? [There's sudden dubiousness in his tone regarding Link's level of skill.]

That's all I ever practiced on at home. I don't have a sparring partner there and I had to practice on something before I could go after the monsters in the world.

[He doesn't count actual combat as practice, but then, he never seemed to need that much practice anyway.]

[The monsters in Link's world must be incredibly stationary, if he was able to be successful against them after practicing against inanimate objects, or Link must be uncommonly gifted. And lucky.]

Try this, then. If you find someone without any fighting skills, train them for a day with your method and then spar with them. See if it helps them as it's helped you.

[You know, that sounded like a great idea.]

Okay! I'll do that!

[Now he just needed to find someone to train. Some poor, sad, soul...]
