Now I have been avoiding this possessed book as much as possible, but ah--
Does anyone know how to fix one of those big, tall... Sticky-thingies?

That question never ends well. Let's put it this way- I'm pretty sure we can't just duct tape a new mast on there, or whatever it was Miguel was trying to do.
