They are. All of us are, actually. [And by 'us', she means the Magical Girls.]

Really? With what? Is it school? Are you all in a club together?

School is one the things that keep us busy back home, yes. Helping people out is another one.

Yeah, that takes up a lot of time! How do you help people out?

We defend them. We fight for them.

Wow, really?! Me too!

You do? ...Do you know Kyuubey too?

Kyuubey...Kyuubey...nope! Who's Kyuubey? Another one of your friends?

No, it's... Someone who gave us the strength to fight for people.

I wondered if it was the same for you.

Nope! JJ gave me my Note! He's an alien! He's really tall and he doesn't talk, but he has really nice scissors!

Scissors? [That's something quite random to say about someone... Except if he's a hairdresser maybe.]

Excuse me but what's that Note you're talking about, Hajime-san?

A Note is like a Gatchaman's soul! JJ pulled mine out of my chest POOF! just like that. It's the cutest little notebook, only we can use it to talk to each other like with these journals and JJ can use it to ZAP! us to wherever he needs us to go. And we use it to transform, of course.

Transform? So you're a Magical Girl as well, Hajime-san?

Not a magical girl, a Gatchaman! Utsutsu and I are the only girls. Well, on Earth. Well, D-san sort of counts as a girl, too. But Senpai and PaiPai are boys. Except PaiPai is a panda.

Oh, my apologies. ...I see. [You're kinda hard to follow, Hajime. But she's trying.]

I'm afraid the thing is... I don't know what the Gatchaman is.

[Sometimes Hajime's brain just goes in...Hajime directions.]

No one here seems to! I guess we just exist in my world! There are Gatchaman all over the universe and it's our job to keep our planets safe from aliens! I guess mostly we just keep them from causing trouble and interfering, which means we have to fight them sometimes. I'd rather we talk things out and make friends, though.

Talking things out with your enemies might be a dangerous thing to try, though.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Miscommunications are easy enough to clear up.

I suppose you're right about that. As long as your opponents' intentions are not just purely evil.

Even so, you can still find a way to talk to them.

I'm afraid I have a hard time believing that.

You never know until you try. Even if you end up not agreeing, you can still try to understand each other.
