Since Selphie was reading love poetry, I started thinking about love again. How depressing, right? I'm beginning to think that being a pirate means not having manners or treating ladies with respect. Sure, there are some exceptions, but the things I've had to go through, honestly...

Do you think the perfect guy is really out there? My lord Ujiyasu would always say that my standards are too high, but what's wrong with high standards? If you set your standards too low, that's what you're going to be stuck with. That's what I think, at least.

I don't believe having high standards is a bad thing. If they're utterly inflexible, then there might be a problem. But, overall, standards are what make sure you like what you end up with.

I am the product of excellent breeding and brought up in one of the highest standards of living I could have been. I have been taught all my life to accept only what I deem worthy, and I think others should hold to that as well.

Same here! There are expectations for a lady of my class and station and I'm not going to just abandon them because that's not how pirates are supposed to do things.

[Ace had given her his whole "noble pirate" speech, but most of what Ace says is nonsense to begin with.]

Back home, no one would have dared to ask the sort of inappropriate questions I have to put up with.
