[The writing is large and looping and it looks like proper penmanship has been abandoned in favor of looking girly and cute.]

Since Selphie was reading love poetry, I started thinking about love again. How depressing, right? I'm beginning to think that being a pirate means not having manners or treating ladies with respect. Sure, there are some exceptions, but the things I've had to go through, honestly...

Do you think the perfect guy is really out there? My lord Ujiyasu would always say that my standards are too high, but what's wrong with high standards? If you set your standards too low, that's what you're going to be stuck with. That's what I think, at least.

[That's... quite the odd story. The Toyotomi versus the Tokugawa probably means that she was dealing with the same East vs. West situation as Magoichi and her fellows, but their Eastern Army never tried to invade Osaka Castle, and theoretically Sekigahara should have been the end of it. Not to mention that the Western Army apparently won. All of this, standing in the face of what Philip told her earlier, though his mention of Motochika's death is enough to make her doubt his information in relation to her own world. She would chalk the whole thing up to alternate universe weirdness and leave it at that, but Kai's last statement bothers her ~~and not because it implies the alternate Ieyasu is a fat old tanuki~~.]

Impressive. But why would anyone "count out" the Toyotomi? Our worlds might not be the same, but at home, even after the deaths of its lord and its chief strategist, the Toyotomi were the only army with the potential to unite the land aside from the Tokugawa.

You're not a prince. Princes have refined manners and charming personalities.

[Also she really doubts that he can get a date. She hopes most women have more self-respect than that.]

Maybe they did once, but losing at Sekigahara was a big blow, especially with Hideyori so young. After that, there really wasn't much they could do. Lord Yukimura did what he could to pull everyone together and we managed to win, though.

[And now who knows what the future will hold.]

Pirate princes are much different. We're strong and really cool, so we don't need to be boring and unmanly like other princes.

[So, the West did lose at Sekigahara. That, at least seems to be consistent.]

So, Yukimura Sanada was responsible? [He was the other successor to the Tiger of Kai, so it made a degree of sense, but still...] I trust your word, but it's difficult to see that happening with the Yukimura I know.

Then I don't want to marry a pirate prince!

Huh?! But...but...[You've broken her brain, Magoichi.] Who else would be able to? Lord Yukimura is everything a warrior is supposed to be! Everyone recognizes that!

[The dim bulb who goes on and on about their lord and has more hot blood than sense in Kai's world? You're talking to her.]

No doubt, then.

[Well, that's definitely an okay response. Mitsuhide only expects his name to have bad associations in the future, so he is always wary during moments like this.]

If I may ask, my Lady, what is your name? If your family served the Hojou then I should at least know of them.

I'm Kai, the daughter of Narita Ujinaga.

[They aren't exactly famous, but oh well...]

[It takes a little while for Mitsuhide to remember anything about Narita Ujinaga, but eventually, the most basic of information comes to mind. It's not much, but as a former principle retainer of the Oda he'd had to know something at least about their potential enemies or allies.]

I recall the Narita clan from reports on the Kantou lands, just about. Forgive me, but I know only a little of your family.

So, you want someone weak and uncool? That's just being mean, isn't it?

It would be more proper, but please don't. There are certain people who really don't need to know that.

I think people here think of something a little different when you call someone "princess."

[Of course, the princess on her crew is a magic talking pony. With wings.]

Perhaps yours is. Ours isn't. Though the young Tiger of Kai is certainly no slouch when when it comes to fair one-on-one matches, in the realm of military strategy he is still but a cub. And I should know; we were the ones that took Ueda Castle while he was defending it.

It's true he's more of a front lines fighter and less of a tactician, but he's still an excellent commander. Everyone recognizes him as the greatest warrior in Japan, even the Tokugawa. The fat old tanuki himself said as much.

[She feels like she has to defend the Yukimura she knows, even though he's not actually the one Magoichi is talking about. He's someone she truly admires and someone her ~~best friend~~ close acquaintance has been in love with since forever, so she won't tolerate anyone badmouthing him.]

No?! But--but-- I can't accept that! It's too depressing!

Hey, refined isn't the same as good! I have good manners and not refined ones.

You're talking about the difference between nobles and other people.

Just because I think so doesn't mean you should. Something like that should be up to you to decide.

But if the right guy's out there for me, then there must be someone for everyone.

[She doesn't intend for it to sound the way it does, but it's still kind of true. If Kai can find the man of her dreams and he doesn't run screaming, then there really is hope for everyone.]
