[Oh, well. Yes. It's actually some salami, a entire box of it, she received it from the Christmas ship. It's even labelled]

I don't know a lot about this whole Christmas day celebration, aside from what I've heard here, but, um....thanks?  I think.

[Should anyone come across her, she'll be lugging around that box to her room.  Why she is even keeping it is a mystery to her]

*Selphie leans down to look down at the label, then she stands back up and smiles*

Wow. Nice gift. That'll come in handy! You must really like salami, huh?

*Yeah, she's not getting it here - just thinks she is a big salami fan*

Actually...I've never really eaten it. I don't know why I received a box of it, especially one so big.

[Which isn't exactly true. She has an idea on why, but doesn't want to say it]

*Selphie giggles brightly as she looks between the woman and the box*

That is so weiirrd! Why don't you try some now?

[Oh...Asami blinks down at the box]

*She looks very expectant now, and she might take that lid off if she doesn't*

[Asami's not really sure why Selphie's so eager for her to eat the meat, but she slowly bends down regardless and removes the lid of the box. Now she's holding a salami in her hand and takes a bite of it]

*Okay, so that happened quicker than she expected. She holds up a hand, as if to warn her. But she was going to suggest some bread, maybe mayo, but no, she's really just gone in for a bite. So she lifts a brow and waits for a reaction*

[So the stuff wasn't terrible overall, but taking a bite like that without anything to go along with it wasn't the best idea. She spits it back out onto the block, hastily wraps it up, and immediately lays it on the ground next to the box, nudging it off to the side with her boot]

Maaaaybe we should find something to go along with it.

Ye-eah... You're not really supposed to eat it like that.

*Wrinkling her nose up at the way she had decided to dispose of the salami*

How bout we just take a little bit to the kitchen, and make it into a sandwich?

[Asami picks another one up from the box and picks up her eaten one on the floor, tucking it under her arm so she can toss it away later]

So you've had it before?

Uh huh! You're only supposed to have little slices at a time.

C'mon, let's go to the galley and I'll show ya how you're supposed to eat it!

*And she'll just smile and turn on her heel, leading the way*

Oh, and I'm Selphie, by the way!

*She calls this over her shoulder with a wave*

[She follows after Selphie with a small wave, though she's not sure if the other girl actually sees her do that]

*Selphie catches it briefly and smiles. When they reach the galley, she goes straight for the bread, and takes out some mayonnaise and slices of cheese*

Okay. So all of this together should be pretty nice. Not too much cheese, though, cause you should really get a taste of the salami.

*And she'll busily get a plate and a knife too, and sets it all out on the table before taking a seat*

[Meanwhile, Asami discards the bitten salami into the trash and lays the other one on the counter, sliding it more to Selphie. She rests her arms on the surface afterwards]

It sounds like you really know what you're doing. Are you sure you wouldn't want to take some of it?

[She asks that with a small laugh, it was probably more of a joke than anything]

*Selphie works her magic and pretty soon there's a rather lovely looking salami sandwich in front of her. She pushes the plate over to Asami*

I sure do! This is like, the only thing I can make in the kitchen without hurting anyone.

*She giggles a little at that, then grabs a glass of water for Asami just in case she doesn't like*

Even if I did, I'm not sure I'd want the smell in my room. It'd be better to keep it in here where everyone can use it, I think.

[She pulls the plate closer to her and takes the sandwich into her hands]

I've never tried this before. Do they just use salami?

[And she finally takes a bite]

Oh, yeah. That's a good point. I mean, I'm sure the guys round here wouldn't mind if you always smelled of salami... But that's a bit weird.

*Selphie tilts her head as she continues to wait for a reaction*

Huh? Do what just use salami?

*She'll just lean a little closer to make sure that this all goes okay*

Yeah, it would be. [She, again, lets out a small chuckle. Though she won't deny that most guys do really like meat, but still...] It doesn't sound like a very good combo.

For the sandwich? [They don't exist in Republic City, okay. Or anywhere else.

As for the salami sandwich, she hasn't tossed it up or anything. So that's going well so far]

*Selphie just laughs along with her - she knows that's true herself, but the idea of anyone sniffing around her like a piece of salami is a bit weird* Not really!

You can put whatever you want on a sandwich! I mean, there's some stuff that probably isn't a good idea. Don't you have them in your world?

*No, she seems to be doing pretty well with it so far, so Selphie goes about making herself a replica of the sandwich and takes a bite*

I haven't seen anything like it yet, but it sounds like a good idea. I bet Bolin would really enjoy it.

It's not bad at all. [She pauses, there was something else she's been meaning to ask] Have you been here for a while too?

*Selphie pauses in her happy eating of her own sandwich*

Hmm? Who's Bolin?

*She grins across the table at Asami, taking a drink of water before finishing off one half of her snack*

Great! Glad you like it! *Selphie nods her head slowly* Mmhmm, a couple of months. Or a few, I think.

[Asami takes a sip of her water. She's just taking her time with her sandwich and is only about half way done. As for Selphie's answer, that was a long time to be away...]

Do you miss home?

Oh, right, 'just a friend'... Okay, I gotcha.

*She gives her a bright wink, and picks up the second half of her sandwich. As for that question, Selphie lowers her eyes slightly, nodding slowly*

Yeah. A lot. But everyone round here has been so good and so welcoming. I can't really complain...

[Asami slowly puts her hands out in front of her. She was involved with his brother at one point anyway. WAS. But that was a whole other story and kind of a mess at the moment. She nods back at her]

That makes it a lot more easier to deal with. I haven't met anyone really bad here yet. [No wait...] Except for the Marines maybe.

*Selphie just smiles - she doesn't know this girl enough to tease her any more about it, anyway*

Mmhmm. I think you picked the right crew! But if any of the guys do start bothering ya, just let me know and I'll go get them told!

*Because Asami's beautifulness hasn't escaped Selphie's notice. At the mention of the marines, she pulls a face and makes a noise of disgust*
