[audio] On noticing the Doctor is gone...

*When Selphie speaks up over her journal, some might catch the tail end of a sigh*

So, more people have been disappearing... A whole bunch of people seem to arrive here at the same time, but the people who leave - They just poof, disappear into thin air whenever.

There's not a trace of him left... Just the stuff he left behind in his workshop. But he's really gone.

Guess that's why we should make the most of the time we have with the new friends we make. You never know when one morning you'll go to talk to someone that...just won't be here anymore.

*She clears her throat, signalling the end of her comfort zone*

*She only glances at him briefly, then looks back at the turkey - it's what she's got him as a Christmas gift, after all*

But anyway, the delivery service is really good. Nice and quick, and really friendly too.

I meant that even if we didn't have leftover paint you could always order more.

[He pauses and looks at her.]

So you used it already?

Oh right. Yeah, I think the delivery service is an awesome idea.

*She smiles at him and stands back up, spreading her arms a little as she shows off the new dress she's wearing - a cute blue dress with white polka dots*

Uh huh! The stuff got here pretty quick!

[He just glances at her face, what do you mean you're wearing a new dress?]

What did you get? Party items?

*Her arms flop down at her sides, because he obviously isn't getting it*

Hmm, some. And I bought some new clothes too.

*There's a heavy emphasis on 'new' and 'clothes', hinting some more*

New clothes? Did something happen to your old ones?

[She could waltz around naked and he wouldn't even flinch. It's not her body what he focuses on, after all.]

Well, no, but I've basically been wearing the same things since I got here. And - I thought the dress was pretty cute anyway.

*She glances down at herself, and smiles, before giving a little twirl. Come on, Ikki, Selphie's hoping that he's really not that dense. And if she ever finds out about that naked thing, that will be a sad day*

[That actually gets him to look at the dress, before he shrugs slightly.]

Why does it matter to girls so much that the clothes are cute anyway? You are pretty whatever you wear.

Well... it's just nice to look good. It can make a girl really happy to know that she looks pretty. And sometimes, if it means that a guy that they like notices them more and likes them more for it, then that's even better...

*She explains it, because from the sounds of things Ikki does need it explained. Once she answers his question, Selphie blushes at his compliment, whether he meant it or not*

Oh, thank you...

[He snorts at the explanation.]

Bullshit.

[He knows it's mean but he really feels that way about that logic about clothes.]

What's the use of a guy noticing you for your clothes and not for yourself? Do you want guys to go out with you or with your clothes?

[She could be dressed in drags and covered in dirt and he would still want to kiss and hug her.]

*Selphie blinks at his reaction, then slowly shakes her head*

Well, with me, obviously but - if someone gave you a present, it'd be better if it was all wrapped up pretty too, right? Okay... that explanation sucks. But I mean, if someone's gonna spend a lot of time with me, I guess I might as well be nice to look at too.

*She turns her attention to the turkey instead, perhaps a little scared about bringing up self-esteem issues with Ikki. Those she can save for when she's in female company that understands that sort of thing*

If the present is rubbish, wrapping it up prettily won't change the contents. A monkey dressed up with silk is still a monkey.

[He looks at her and shakes his head.]

Who cares if you are nice to look at or not? I have no interest in looking at anything else but you either way. If no one else wants to look at you because they don't think you're cute? Much better for me.

[You are his... Or something.]

*She's annoyed that he's right, but she smiles a little as she looks at the turkey - it's still a turkey even if it's painted like a phoenix after all. The way he says the next bit makes her want to argue just for the sake of it - she can get like that with Ikki sometimes - but when she realises what he's saying, it's actually very sweet. So she spins round and hugs him tight and she's just about to kiss him when she wonders if she should do that in a place where people might walk by, so her lips pause awkwardly just by his*

Ikki, I don't think you realise how adorable you can be sometimes. Even if it is by accident!

[What has gotten into her now? Ikki frowns in confusion, arching then an eyebrow at her words. No, he doesn't think he can be adorable, he was just saying the truth anyway. He notices her face pretty close to his, so he does the only logical thing and kisses her. Who knows it may actually serve to finish that strange conversation.]

*Selphie smiles brightly when he kisses her - at least that means he isn't freaking out about being seen with her or anything like that. That, and it means that what happened the other morning wasn't just a one off, because they hadn't really spoken about it, so she wasn't sure. She giggles though when she feels the turkey walking over her feet and standing between them*

Aww - I think he's jealous!

[He hums as the turkey stands between them.]

That's what happens when you blow kisses at turkeys. He probably thought you had something special.

[Was that a joke?]

*Ikki seems to rarely make jokes, but when he does, they always make her laugh*

Well I didn't expect it to fall in love with me just from a few little air kisses! Besides, I thought it was you that it liked, always coming down here to feed it. I bet it thought those were all romantic dinner dates.

You think he likes us both? Maybe it developed Stockolm Syndrome when we painted it.

Maybe he does! We're both very attractive, interesting, intelligent individuals. I'd be in love with us both if I was that turkey, wouldn't you?

*And she blows the turkey a kiss just for good measure*

I'm not into sharing, though.

[Pause as he eyes the animal and her.]

Maybe we should reconsider putting it in the oven.

*That makes her laugh, probably much more than she should, but it's really too sweet, and quite hilarious. She grabs up Ikki's arm and leans into him, whispering like she's keeping out of earshot of the turkey*

Ikki, are you jealous of that little turkey bird?

[He just arches an eyebrow at her.]

Who said it was you who I didn't want to share? I meant the turkey.

[No, he didn't, but he's not jealous either. Not of that turkey. Of intelligent guys who can actually rescue and protect her while he can't even find her? Yes, he is jealous of those. Not that he will ever admit it.]

*She quickly lets go of her arm them and steps aside, brushing down the sleeves of her dress*

Well, that's fine then. I can just leave and let you two get on with your petting.

*Is she joking? Maybe. Is she serious? Maybe.*

And what are you going to do?

[It doesn't seem to matter to him whether she's serious or not.]

I'm going to - Uhm... I don't know? Find something else to do while you two have your fun?

*She shrugs lightly while she tries to think*

I could go read that book that the Doctor gave me. I haven't got round to reading it yet.

*And what better time to read it than when he's gone*
