How many ships have had people vanish?
Did anyone notice anything unusual before they disappeared?

Strange though--do other people just disappear on the open ocean? Without using the Nav or falling overboard or anything?

[...She's mostly joking.]
Re: [voice]
[He's totally serious.]

Some pirate guy who's looking for the gem pieces--well, wants us to look for them and I guess hand them over on a platter or something, I'm not sure what his plan is there. Anyway, he showed up with the first batch of newcomers to tell them what the deal was, and he's some kind of ghost? I wasn't there so I don't know for sure.
Re: [voice]
The assumption I was told was that this ruby is the only thing powerful enough to get us back to our worlds. Do you know anyone from that first group?
[voice]
[Which means that everything Codi repeated about Davy Jones being a ghost and having an army is probably wrong.]
If you want to grill her and see if you can get anything different than what I did, though, I'm not going to stop you.

[Given the population's tendency to call any sort of power witchcraft.]
[voice]
Whatever the case, Davy Jones is a weird customer. Maybe he's just trying to play on the suspicions of the townsfolk with the idea that it'll unnerve the rest of us, too?
[voice]
It doesn't take much to unnerve them, either. If it's an illusion for show ... [What would be the purpose?] Is he trying to impress us with his powers or something?
[voice]
[voice]
Your what?
[voice]
My cellphone. It calls people.
[Wait, no, that's probably not good enough. The temptation to tease is strong, but Sasuke seems too smart to really fall for that. Codi resists.]
...I mean, it's like these journals, but smaller. Also electronic. It doesn't work here, of course.

... it must be because I don't spend a lot of time waiting around needing to be kept busy. [His tone is dry.] Offices aren't really my thing.
[voice]
Sometimes I wish I was in the same boat, but then things like this happen and I have to wonder if I would prefer kidnapping over playing several mind-numbing hours of Block Tower. Each has their strong points, you know?
