How many ships have had people vanish?
Did anyone notice anything unusual before they disappeared?
Did anyone notice anything unusual before they disappeared?

[The idea of a ninja injuring themselves and having to stay in hospital for long periods of time does not surprise her enough to pry. Although he could be referring to other things...]
Phones are so much better than radios, though. You don't know what you're missing!
[voice]
Darkly:] Medics would probably find a way to use them to keep us stuck there for longer.
[voice]
Why on earth would they do that? One of my best friends is a doctor; I can't imagine why he'd want to work longer hours than he already does.
[voice]
[voice]
I also know a few people with the same opinion! I don't argue with them much, though--they went through a lot more training than I could ever do to become a doctor, so I assume they know what's best for my health.
I guess the doctors where you're from could be more malicious than mine? I've never met any like that.
[voice]
They just all have a habit of thinking they know better.
[Some of them are, in fact, malicious -- outright dangerous, even. But for the most part, Sasuke's dealings with medic-nin have revolved around their insistence he stay bored for way too many extra days in hospital.]
[voice]
Unless they're going nuts from sleep deprivation, I usually assume that they do! I mean, my doctor friend is a pretty smart guy--I'd trust his judgement on a lot of things, including my physical well-being.
Re: [voice]
He was a good enough medic-nin, I guess. [It occurs to him late that it's possible --] Was your friend a civilian doctor?
[voice]
[That's about as general a description as she can come up with for him also working as a vigilante medic, to ensure that their more reckless members didn't get themselves killed while on missions or testing powers or the like. Besides, it's more of a part-time thing.]
Why? What did your doctor friend do?
[voice]
That question, though ... the better question is more what Kabuto hadn't done.]
He's not my friend. He was an unavoidable associate. [And more dangerous than anyone had expected, for all his delusions of power.] He kept me in health to specifications.
[voice]
[voice]
Civilian doctors couldn't handle the kind of things medic-nin need to deal with, and they'd never make it on a battlefield.
[voice]
[Again, mentioning her own friend's abilities might be best saved for another time.]
I'm sorry you were stuck with that guy, then! He sounds like he really got on your nerves.
[voice]
Fortunately he's dead now, or as good as. [Unless he chose to exit the Izanami, or so Itachi had said.]
[voice]
[voice]
... he could show up here. [That's not a good realization.] Time doesn't make any sense in this place.
[voice]
[What do alternate canon points?]
[voice]
My brother and I are from different years in our lives.
[voice]
[Although...]
You don't...say. Are you sure you're not just pulling my leg right now?
[voice]
If you expect your friends to follow you, though, does that mean they have the ability to follow you across worlds?
[voice]
[Yeah, he's not exactly Dave's type. She'll take his word for it.]
They don't yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if they figured something out. I have interesting friends.
