Oh, fuuuuun. A fetch quest, huh? It's like I really am part of the team now.

[He can get behind causing trouble, that's for sure. He makes a note to introduce himself to the captain when he gets a chance.]

So what's the other way? You said there were two.

Heh, a fetch quest... Yeah. But it's pretty annoying, especially when there's so many of us.

[At Lea's question, Riku shrugs and crosses his arms.]

You just disappear. It's more of an assumption that you end up back where you came from, I guess we don't actually know. But if there's another explanation for the disappearances, nobody's figured it out yet.

Huh. Sounds like something someone should be looking into. You think Davy Jones is just tossing back the ones that don't work out?

[Because that's a lot nicer than what he'd assume.]

He could be. I wouldn't know how to look into it, aside from asking those people if they ever show up again. ...Though, if they haven't gone home, if they're just disappearing and something's happening to them in this world somewhere, then we've got a problem.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. I don't know anything about this Davy Jones guy, but I know a lot about getting rid of people when they aren't useful anymore.

[Sometimes getting rid of them personally.]

There is one person we could ask. Actually, I think someone already did but they didn't get a real answer. Maybe that's why people aren't letting themselves worry about it... Anyway, I don't know much about them but they show up in the journal sometimes.

[Pauses.]

Have you figured out the journal yet?

[He fishes out the book. He hasn't really looked at it since he got here. Too many other things going on.]

What, this thing? Haven't even opened it. Is it something important?

Yeah, that.

[Riku pulls out his own matching journal, flipping to the entry he'd just written earlier to show to Lea.]

They're a means of communication in this place. Everyone has one. You write in it, and it shows up in everyone's journal. And you can talk to them, too, and they'll record what you're saying.

[Lea opens his own book and finds the same entry, then flips back and forth through the pages to check the rest of it out.]

That's handy. So there's someone who writes things in here sometimes that gives you clues, is that what you mean?

Something like that. There's this guy who answers one question a week, so it's kind of a matter of making sure you get there first if you want to ask something important. I've never talked to him. ...Her. I think we recently found out it's a woman. But anyway. We could try asking her what happens when people up and vanish.

Sounds like a plan. Heh, look at us making plans. I feel more responsible already.

[It gives him a bit of direction, too. Not going to turn that down.]

[Grins a little.]

She might give you some backwards, utterly unhelpful answer, but it's worth a shot. And hopefully she shows up again before we get swept up in some other crazy thing. It's really easy to get distracted in this place.

Oh really? Losing your focus? No wonder you haven't figured out a way to get home yet. Playing pirates is just toooo much fun.

[Not that he's not thinking that maybe he needs a badass pirate outfit himself, but he's not going to tell Riku that.]

Sure, fun. Especially when entire naval fleets are trying to kill us, or did you forget about that already? Not everyone who ends up here can fight like us or summon chakrams out of thin air.

[AKA it isn't all fun and games.

What? That wasn't even the fun part? No wonder you're distracted.

[He pushes off the rail and stretches.]

Guess it'll be up to me to keep an eye on you kids.

[Raises an eyebrow, then grins a bit.]

...Maybe that was a little fun. But still, we can't take them too lightly. They captured some of the crew awhile back.

[Slight pause.]

Not me, though. You really don't need to keep an eye on me.

Oh really? Seems to me you get yourself in just as much trouble.

[Sure, Riku is probably right, but there's no reason to let him know that.]

Yeah, but then I get myself out of it!

[...Kind of. Maybe—

A disgruntled kind of pout settles on his face.]

...Alright, fine. Never mind. Shut up -- you're going to have your hands full with Roxas anyway, aren't you?

[Okay, so Lea can't help but laugh at that face a little.]

Yeah, but you say that like it's not going to end up being Roxas and Sora and then you getting wrapped up in whatever they get into. I'm lucky Kairi has some sense.

[Of course, if they've been here a while...]

Unless you guys have collected more friends to get into trouble with.

...Kairi's the only one of us who ever had any sense.

[Because the rest of that was probably exactly what would happen. He gives a pained sigh.]

When does Sora ever not collect more friends?

It is kind of what he does, huh? Well, great. I'm gonna have gray hair by the time I get home.

[At least no one was dumb enough to let Sora be captain of a boat or anything like that.]

Please tell me at least some of the new crowd have half a brain.

On the bright side, I hear gray hair is in right now.

[Grins a little, then he shrugs.]

Yeah, most of them, actually. And some of them were already pirates, so at least they know how to handle a ship this size.

[Lea's brow furrows.]

So basically saying he's made friends with the whole crew. Well, I'm not looking out for all of you. That's what we have a captain for.

[He waves his hand dismissively. Whether or not he listens to that guy is going to depend on whether or not he wants to.]

Don't worry, they don't all need a babysitter. Some might need more help than others, but everyone is learning how to handle themselves. You'll probably see how everyone shapes up pretty quickly, actually, we can't ever seem to leave islands quietly.

Never a dull moment, huh? Well, I guess I have a lot to look forward to.

[And a lot to keep Roxas out of.]
