[The handwriting is a little sloppy, as if this was jotted down in a hurry.]

Hey Spades--

Found some stragglers. I'm bringing them back to the ship.

[Private to Sora:]

Heads up...one of them is Roxas.

Two. Roxas, he's the one who looks kind of like Sora. And a guy named Lea, he specializes in fire attacks.

Awesome, more fire users.

[There's actually a small, well covered glee in his voice at that. He's now interested in that Lea guy at least. There's also a certain gleam in his eyes which isn't seen thanks to the journals. He takes control of his tone soon, though and his next words are in his usual one.]

It seems this place has a soft spot for people from your world who use your kind of weapons. But I don't suppose you have any idea of why, right?

Heh, I told Ace it might as well be a requirement to join the crew at this point.

[Considers that question.]

Normally when we go to worlds, we're supposed to save them. So either this place is in enough trouble that it needs four Keyblade wielders to help it out, or...I don't know. Davy Jones thinks we'll be useful or something.

Maybe not being a fire user, but not having issues with fire is a must by now for this crew.

[Ikki hums.]

That doesn't explain why bring other people. I'm not someone who goes around saving worlds, I fight to protect the Earth but normally it's together with other Saints and Athena. Not like this. And I don't think Marco and the others were dedicated to save the world, either.

Mm, well I don't think that's why we're here, I'm just saying that's why we usually go to new worlds. But this place is different anyway. The same kind of Darkness isn't present that I'm used to...I don't think it's really a world that needs to be saved.

So I guess that brings us back to the Davy Jones thing. But really, I have no idea. Who knows why we're here and other people aren't.

True. Even if this world needed to be saved no one says that Davy Jones would be interested in saving it.

[There's a pause.]

But what if it is? We know nothing about the gem, only that it was once a full gem that was divided due its great power. We know not who divided it or why. Why if it broke by accident or something? And that huge power it has is the one that keeps this world together. Everyone seems to think it's something dangerous, but no one really knows what it does after all.

...That's a different kind of saving than what the Keyblade is normally used for. But I'd be up for it all the same if that's why we were really brought here. Maybe that's why there's such a random assortment of people who were pulled here.

It would be better than that gem being something dangerous for this world and us completing it would get it destroyed.

Man, could you imagine? That's supposed to be our way out of here, if it's not...and that happens... Here's hoping that's not how it goes down.

I can see it being both things. A powerful gem which power may be used to save this world or balance it, or to destroy and ruin it if said power is used for something else. Like getting a bunch of foreigners to their worlds.

The bad part would be that we would be the responsible of destroying this world, the good part would be that we wouldn't be here to know it. And if we were to decide to not use the wish to get us home, we would save this world, but we would end locking in this world forever.

[Ikki just loves to go for the worst possibilities.]

[Silent for a moment.]

...That last thing— [Hits a little too close to home.

He sighs.]

That sounds exactly like the sort of situation Sora would get himself swept up in. And probably others, I'm sure, maybe they've been through similar stuff.

[It's also a familiar thing for him though not in the same way.]

The major problem would be that we don't get to know which option is it if any of those are true. Though I guess that depends on how much we want to get home at any cost, then not knowing may be the best thing for us.

Yeah, true. I guess it's a long way off anyway, figuring all that out. We have to even have all the shards first.

And we don't even know how many of those are there. Or where they are.

[A pause.]

Or even if all of them can be found. Nothing says that one or several of them couldn't have been destroyed somehow over time.

[There's another pause, then Riku just lets out a short laugh.]

You're just a regular ray of sunshine, huh? Glass half empty kind of guy?

No. Glass completely empty kind of guy. Or filled with poison.

[There's a heavy sigh.]

Experience does that kind of thing. And I have some at being taken from places and sent to fill the wishes of someone while being lied and fooled.

Hm. Well, not like it's a bad thing having someone around to keep us grounded.

We've got enough optimists on board, after all.

I'm sure Selphie is enough to compensate for it.

Selphie's enough to compensate for the gloomiest of moody people on their absolute worst days.

She's a ball of sunshine like that. Enough to burn a ship on her own if you let her.

Mm... Is she still trying to get close to you?

You say that as if you expected her to actually stop.

[Aka: yes she is.]

...Yeah, I guess that's not likely, is it. Ah well.

You know her better than me, or at least for longer even if you got separated.

[Or even if she's another version or whatever.]

Say, has she always been the type to not listen others? Or is that something she only does with me?

[Laughs.]

No, she's pretty stubborn. I can't tell you how many times we got stuck playing with her dolls growing up, even when it wasn't her turn to pick a game.
