[Yes, voice is what you get because Shepard is accustomed to dictation software with his omni-tool.]
This is Commander Shepard, Systems Alliance Navy. Considering the crew of the Normandy and I only had enough time to gently interrogate the locals on the main island before we were kindly asked to leave, the location of a friendly port or merchant ship to restock supplies would be appreciated.
I would also like to personally extend my thanks to the person responsible.
[All the fucking sarcasm in the world.]
Shepard out.
[And shortly after there's a little addendum made private to the Normandy crew.]
Not exactly inclined to trust just anyone out there, but I'm sure you've all seen the reports about an impending attack. If there's a chance one of our people will show up behind enemy lines, we should make some plans.
Swimming lessons at noon.

Re: [action]
[she lies, there was trouble all around. Good times indeed.]

Re: [action]
Re: [action]
Maybe you're not as boring as I thought.
Re: [action]
Wouldn't that technically be insulting yourself?

Re: [action]
Re: [action]
[with whatever he's been doing with the rigging done, he actually moves towards her and leans against a barrel for a bit.]
[normally he wouldn't be this social with someone he's just met, but there's obviously something different here. he's always been the one closed off, keeping his emotions and inner thoughts to himself for the sake of putting on a strong, confident face for ship morale and the mission.]
[but if you can't be honest with yourself, who can you be honest with?]
Were you on Torfan?
Re: [action]
But then, she's still trying to gauge just who he is, and this seems like a good way to do that.]
I wasn't, although I met Major Kyle later. I didn't exactly get the impression that operation ended well, even though the Alliance won eventually.
[Although she wonders if it would have gone down differently with him there.]
Re: [action]
Damn batarians were dug in pretty deep. It took some pushing, but we flushed them out. Major Kyle was my CO for that mission. It was one of the operations that put my name on the short list for N7. [And the Spectres later on.]
"Butcher of Torfan" they called me. [He doesn't look too impressed with that moniker, so he quickly moves on.] What about you? Any nicknames?
Re: [action]
She also doesn't doubt he deserved the recognition. It was a tough mission, from what she's heard. She only shrugs a little when he turns the subject back to her.]
Nothing so fancy. I was on leave on Elysium during the Skyllian Blitz, and they called me a hero after I gave them a hand. The colonists did a good job in holding the batarians off themselves, though.
[She'll always admire civilians who pick up weapons to defend themselves, even if they didn't have much of a choice in that case.]
Re: [action]
He doesn't like the nickname because it cheapens the sacrifice.]
Right in the thick of things, huh? I've read the reports. Tough fighting.
[Funny. She was there when the Blitz started, and considering Torfan was basically retaliation for Elysium, he was part of what really ended it. The irony isn't lost on him, and he shakes his head a bit as he stares up towards the other end of the ship where the rest of the crew probably are, crew who come from different universes with different events.]
Re: [action]
[It's interesting to find more differences between them - more so than similarities, because those she'd expected. They'd both ended up in the same place after all, fighting the reapers.
She follows his gaze for a moment, then smirks.]
We might have proved ourselves differently, but we both got landed with the Normandy for our trouble.
[Best damn ship and best damn crew in the galaxy.]
Re: [action]
[Said with a sarcastic smirk of his own.]
