[Voice]
All Shepherds, meet on deck for tea time and discussions.
Keimi check in as soon as you can.
And yes, we're getting low on coffee, and cigars. I'll survive, [No, he won't.] but I still refuse to switch to tea.
For all you pirates out there, what did you lot do before you came here? Occupations, careers, whatever. I need to know what freedom you're fighting for, let's just say.

[action] - [ic discussion/backdated set up for event]
[Smoker's face is probably not helping ease any tension in this situation given how Smoker looks like he was carved from rock. But then he always does. At least it's clear that he's calm and not angry.]
[action] - [ic discussion/backdated set up for event]
[she turned back around to face Rikka, who'd arrived with her]
Do you want any, Rikka?

[Anything that made Mana worried made her worried, and nervous, and a few other things she tended not to let on. So she was a little out of it at the moment.]

[He just says it quite certainly, because he'll do everything in his power to make it so.]

She was possibly too quiet even for someone who appeared to the untrained eye as unassuming as she did. She was in fact quite worried about what was happening, both for the sake of those who would be defenseless, and their own safety in the long run.
Though, primarily that of Rikka and Mana, of course.
Still, she manages to cast a small smile towards both of them.]
It can be good to help calm your nerves, at least.
[Something she'd know well at the moment. In fact, putting it like that may have been a bit telling.]

[Mana sighed, and nodded]
Calm nerves are definitely a good thing, right now... Smoker-san, I'll reconsider.
[she smiled at him, and nodded]

[He's surrounded by girls less than half his age, but he feels vaguely like the most immature one here.
Spoilers: he is actually the most immature one here.][Isn't it infantile to not want anyone to die in this? To protect people who clearly didn't give a damn about doing the same? But he doesn't kill pirates, the last thing he wants to do now is start killing ma-- navy members, even if it's not his world. Maybe especially because it's not his world.]
The Straw Hats, and I believe Spades, are planning to come in from the South-East. The captain of the Spades was raised by the marine hero of my world. Straw Hat too. I don't believe they'll purpose kill anyone no matter what. [It's not Straw Hat's way. That's why they could see eye to eye despite being pirate and marine. Though Smoker still refused to trust any pirates, even after Punk Hazard.] In a blockade, they'll still have a few ships out to block anyone else from coming in, but mostly they'll all go to that point to close ranks.
[He doesn't expect anyone in the Shepherds other than well -- Henry, to be willing to kill anyone, but Henry just needed an eye on him. Still...] I don't want to let anyone die. No matter their allegiance. Pirates neither.
[So in order to get the new people... but how long would they arrive for? If at all.]
[Yeah, nothing like skipping straight to the point, huh.]
no subject
[Yeah, guess who's just going to jump into this conversation all of a sudden because he feels like it. Because we really need the creepy murder guy to weigh in on important matters, clearly. Henry's walking up to the group casually, showing up late because that's how he rolls.
He looks annoyed, but not too upset, despite his complaint. More disappointed than anything, really.]
And here I thought this was gonna be fun.

That said, if we can rescue newcomers before they get involved, it might go a long way.

I do not intend to take a life. I never have. I do not plan to try and start. However...
[She casts a quick, fleeting glance towards Mana and Rikka before looking back to Smoker.]
They will try to kill us. While I have no intent of trying to inflict that sort of harm upon someone... At the same time, I will not let that intent get in the way of protecting Mana-chan and Rikka-chan.
[She closed her eyes and gave a small breath.]
And I will do that, no matter what happens.
[Whatever that entails, she just leaves hanging.]

Like I told Maribelle-san before... I don't think there will be a wanton loss of life, and I don't think that was what everyone was saying... Capturing, disabling the enemy... that doesn't necessarily mean a massacre.
[her expression grew more serious]
I won't blame Maribelle-san, or you Smoker-san, but I think... with the fact that this is so important, and so much is at stake, that emotions ran high. People have a hard time trusting us, and I understand why you have trouble trusting them...
... but I would like to think, after all this time, you can trust us.
... The Precure are soldiers of love. Anything we would do in this battle would be to uphold that. That's why... that's why I would like you to put your faith in us... and the faith we have in others!
...
That might have sounded pretty corny, but... I believe absolutely all of it! Please, let us fight alongside everyone!

If you're strong enough, I mean truly strong enough, [He gives them all a very serious look.] Then you will find other ways to deal with the navy here, to prove you don't have to kill anyone. Pirates are so weak because they do not normally find those other methods, and they usually don't try. Some pirates make an exception, and if I'm to trust your justice on this, then I must trust you to have a wisdom beyond your years to find that difference.
Understood?
I do not want any of you hurt, but if you're strong enough you should be able to prove your points without killing anyone. And to protect who you want without killing anyone.
I won't ask you to promise not to, but know that if I'm to trust your strength, then you must follow through on it.

She understood what he meant.
She didn't DISAGREE with it.
But she had been faced with a number of things in this world already that were forcing her to rapidly consider her stance on many things.
Still, it was probably the last thing she should be arguing about. They had far more pressing matters at hand, at least so far as she was concerned.
She looked back up, smiling lightly again.]
I do understand and admire your conviction, Smoker-san. As said, to go that far is not my intent. Nor any of ours.
[With that carefully worded reply out of the way, she raised her tea cup again and took a sip.]
We do have other matters to discuss, do we not?
no subject
I see that there is no way Smoker or I will be able to convince you girls to stay where it's a bit more safe? I truly admire and respect your decision to help protect the innocent newcomers, but I must admit I do not trust many of these pirates you wish to help execute this plan. Their lack of regard for the sanctity of life is unnerving to say the least, and their disrespect for everything the shepherds stand for has been made clear on many occasions.
Yet I feel it would be wrong of me to stop you from following your convictions, and therefore I would like to accompany you on this mission. I may not agree with everything that may come to pass, but at the very least I can still heal the wounded, and make certain that none of you get killed doing anything overly reckless.
Do you find these terms acceptable ladies?
[Maribelle takes a seat, folding her fingers together as if she were in a diplomacy room, dealing with hostile negotiations.]
