[Natsuno's eyes are still a little wide, but he's not entirely sure what to do. He shakes his head a bit.]

Not like this, I mean, it's customary not to really touch people in my country. Tohru-chan put his arm around me sometimes, but...that's not really normal.

Oops! Well, I guess we ruined that custom!

*She smirks, giving Natsuno a coy look and batting her eyelashes at him*

Don't worry, Yuuki, I'm not flirting with you.

I-I didn't say you were! I mean...it's okay I guess.

[Other people's customs are pretty strange anyway, moreso if he's being hugged.]

*And she just continues with blinking her eyelashes at him, hugging him a little tighter*

You mean, you ~want~ me to flirt with you, Yuuki?

[Natsuno is blushing pretty hard and he squirms a little.]

Maybe you could just...

[He gestures with his hand at the hugging.]

*And with that Selphie just bounces right back, keeping her limbs to herself, and at an actual reasonable distance. And then she bursts into laughter*

Yu - Yuuki, seriously. You could really upset a girl like that...

[Natsuno clears his throat a little and looks away.]

Girls do not want to hug me. Even Shimizu wouldn't have, I don't think. I'm not even sure why you hugged me.

[In fact, he's completely lost control over this conversation.]

Well, I know I wanted to hug you, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. And aside from the fact of you being so adorable... Actually, that's all. You were being very sweet, and I thought it deserved a hug.

But hey - half the crew don't like it when I hug them so I don't see why it should be any different with you!

[He feels a little guilty at that and runs his hand through his hair.]

It isn't really about who's hugging me. It isn't you. It's just not something I am accustomed to.

I wasn't really trying to be sweet I just...I scared you and I'm sorry, and I don't want you to think I would do something to you. I wouldn't.

Well, I'll try not to be offended. But you should maybe hug some more people, just to get used to it. Lemme see... The Doctor gives nice hugs, Marco is very cuddly, don't go to Ace. No offense, but...it won't happen. Uhm, Ikki gives really, very nice hugs... And Riku. You could always practise with Riku...

*Of all the sly grins. Hope you like her hints and tips for crew hugs!*

Hey. It's okay. And anyway, you wouldn't hurt me, mostly cause you know I'd hunt you down and slap your wrists.

[Natsuno blinks at her.]

Why? I'm not sure what is with all the hugging. I mean, in Japan you really never hug anyone, not even family. Maybe it's too personal.

[Hug Riku? The thought stops his words for a moment as he scrambles to recover.]

I-I don't think any of them would like to ah, hug me, that'd be weird what with guys and all.

[He sighs a bit.]

Selphie, I can't fight at all. I am certain even if I did lose it, you could beat me up, if that makes you feel better.

*Selphie shrugs a little - physical affection is important to her, after all*

Well, hugs just feel nice. Didn't that feel good? My hugs are pretty awesome, you know. But it's just, to make someone feel nice, that's what they're for. This crew just mostly suck at realising that.

Hmm, I dunno. You might have a better chance of getting hugged than I have. I mean, there's only one person on this entire boat who hugged me first. Ya know, without me attacking them. So it's not like they're running riot looking for women to hug. So - yeah, I don't think it matters?

*She's not really sure where she's going with this, but her voice softens, trying to reassure him*

You don't have to fight. You've got these creepy tricks, so you don't have to. That's my job. Seriously, fighting is what I'm paid for back home. So yes, I could 100% beat you up if I wanted to. But I don't wanna hurt you either.

It wasn't unpleasant at any rate. I don't know about nice.

Why would I have a better chance? I doubt Riku or Ikki want to hug me, even Sora, I don't think so. I'm not sure why they would.

[He sighs a little.]

If I could fight, we could have gotten out of there, maybe. But I was as weak as anyone else and I got caught unaware.

Well, thanks. But every time you'll learn to love it more. Just you wait and see.

*She grins and winks at him, then looks thoughtful for a moment*

You never know when you might need a hug, if it makes you feel better. I hugged Riku when Sora died, and I think he needed that. Ikki - well, I thought he needed a hug but.. he's a trickier beast. So maybe warn him first. I think Sora would be fine with it too. But, if it's still too weird, don't worry about it too much.

*Selphie looks down at her boots and slowly shakes her head*

Yuuki, don't. I should have had the stength enough to get us all out, no trouble. But that didn't happen. That's what I was born and bred to do, and I couldn't. That wasn't your responsibility.

[Natsuno tilts his head and shrugs a bit.]

Maybe it would have been nice at a time like that, when someone dies, but it's not like that where I am.

[He wonders if Tohru's siblings would have liked that, or even if he would have appreciated it. At a time like that, instead he was fighting with Masao.]

Not really yours either, but we can both feel guilty about it. At least they came for us, and we're alive, right?

Okay, but don't worry, you can take hugging baby step by baby step!

*Selphie takes a deep breath and looks back up at him*

They shouldn't have had to! Just dragged them all in to get hurt...

I suppose I could.

[He scratches his head and looks a little puzzled at that. He's not sure why he needs to learn this kind of thing, but even his conversation with Riku made him realize that maybe things in Japan weren't the same as elsewhere. Natsuno honestly never thought about it.]

They were okay though. We're all okay now. Everyone's safe right? I feel bad Riku and Ace had to come save me, but it's better than being killed. I promised Riku I wouldn't die before he did.

They're okay but... they were hurt. Okay, so the Doctor wasn't but Ikki was, and Ace was exhausted. I'm definitely not okay with that. At all.

*She takes a deep breath and folds her arms over her chest, shaking her head*

I won't let it happen again. But yeah - if you can hold onto promises like that, that's a good idea.

*She manages a small smile, pleased that it means he isn't thinking so suicidal anymore*

Riku was a little hurt too, I think, but he's fine now. They all are. They will all be okay Selphie, and the alternative is worse. It's okay not to want that to happen again, and really, I'm with you there, but it's nice they came to save us.

[Natsuno isn't. Honestly, he hasn't been for awhile, but until Riku pushed him, he'd still been considering it from time to time, but he has doubts.]

We could have been left to our own fates. That would have been safer for the crew.

*Her shoulders rise and fall as she takes a deep, deep shaky breath*

Yeah. It would have. But... Maybe. Maybe it's good to be saved. I'd save them all right back! I just - I kinda even want that chance. Just in case. To fight and get my revenge, make it fair for everyone.

*Selphie pulls a face once she's done speaking, like she knows that maybe that sounds weird, or just plain stupid*

From what we know, sailing around here isn't that safe, and I'm sure you'll have the chance to do just that. The longer we're here, the more likely we're going to be to run into conflict, and after what we did there, I'm sure they are looking for us.

[It's not entirely stupid. Natsuno gets it, he understands this feeling very well.]

Good! They can come at me! Just wait til they get what those bastards deserve!

*Despite her language, she looks remarkably cheery and happy about it, moving back a step to twirl her nunchaku*

They're gonna get in so much trouble if they even think of looking at my friends!

[Natsuno gives her half a little smile and he nods.]

You'll have your revenge. Just because you were taken down that means nothing. Like I said, I believe you have a lot of skill.

[Is he trying to cheer her up? That might be the case...]

*If he is, it sure seems to be working, and she twists her nunchaku round some more, jumping on the balls of her feet*

I sure do! I just gotta keep practising as best I can to keep those skills up!

Good. Even I'm going to learn to fight somehow.

[Natsuno scratches his cheek. He's pretty uncertain about that because he's never been into fighting.]
